I was on top of a building and two guys came up. I had a motorcycle helmet and that was it. They started trying to punch me and I was able to punch them both to death 2v1.

Is anything being done to address DC'ers and server hoppers?
framesh1ft posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Let me explain the problem for the uninitiated. Server hoppers are people that go to a place with good loot and just join different servers trying to get different items. They log in, grab loot, and log out to another server. This is irritating as it makes fortifying a building pointless, it makes it hard to find loot in certain spots without server hopping yourself (seriously... you'll find nothing but empty cans some places, even though you watch to make sure no one is going in or out for a long time) The DC'er is a player who gets into a jam (by zombies or from other players) and just disconnect. They either wait a while to join back or they join a different server. So my question... is there anything being done to address this? Just curious because currently, this is the biggest problem in the game right now. -

This is not the answer either. I don't feel like i need to explain why. -

Drinking all of this soda and eating all of these beans should make you have to shit like an elephant at the circus. I think players should have to pee and poop every so often. I just kinda thought about this when I heard the rain turn on and I thought someone was taking a piss behind a tree for a second. This would add some comic relief in such a serious game... like if someone's meter is about to go off during a gun battle and they shit themselves. Or you catch someone taking a piss and shoot them. I'm not weird and haven't been thinking about this for a long time... it just kind of came to me as I was eating some beans. Comments?

As of patch... 1.7.1.5 stealth is basically the exact same as 1.7. Are you sure you didn't play 1.7.1.4? It was just hotfixed back.

I'd say it's pretty intense? What's the longest you've lasted? And if you have lasted forever... maybe you should stop camping the airfield and go to elektro and have some fun. But... I think that the zombies could be turned up a bit... I mean not in the way that they were in the previous hotfix where they had super hearing. Look' date=' if proning actually got you anywhere, I wouldn't be complaining. Now if you want my personal opinion, I think the Mak was a bit too strong a starting weapon. I ain't complaining about the lack of food or water bottles either. I'm just complaining bout the fact that after you die, there ain't much left to do cept sit on your hands. Go prone? Zombie spots you and kills you. Make a run for it? No shit you get killed. Go to a barn? Either spook a zombie or say hello to a bandit. Rinse and repeat. If the survivors started out with something that just let them defend themselves against a single zombie - like a BB-gun or something, absolute junk weapon - that'd eliminate my complaint entirely and I could join you guys in praising this patch. Cause there's a lot to be praised. Too bad the game is unplayable as is. [/quote'] Hmmm, not in my opinion... Honestly... on a full 50 man server.. i've been able to crouch walk through Elektro and come out with a lee enfield, makarov, map, knife, and plenty of food and drink. They just had 13,000 concurrent players a few nights ago... it's definitely "playable" Hell, even when I have a decent weapon, a lot of the times I don't ever have to shoot zombies... crouch walking/prone is pretty easy to pull off.

I like how it currently is... I mean.. that's how an apocolypse should be right? Shouldn't there be haphazard defenses erected everywhere? Maybe make tools slightly less rare.
-
Necessary? Nothing is actually necessary... but all of it adds to the realism/experience.

This has been the most fun patch since I've started playing ( a little before 1.7). There aren't that many bugs in this patch and performance has gone way up. No weapon start is intense but no impossible. Just find a barn and get a winchester/doublebarrel/lee enfield. I like that people are less likely to go guns blazing everywhere... because even having food or drink is something to lose now. Even when just having a makarov... I don't want to die. Melee weapons are a nice touch and flashlight in the tool belt is great! I'm actually enjoying night time servers with at least a flashlight. All in all, I'd say that Rocket has finally nailed down 1.7.1 and it's a lot of fun to play again. (hasn't been stable since 1.7) This thread might seem pointless, but I'm just posting to put some praise up on the forums. Too much whining and not enough praise for such an epic mod. I think it's going in the right direction.

Find a toolbox and dismantle it

Can't wait for this patch. 1) increase fps 2) zombies no longer have super hearing. 3) hatchet no longer primary weapon 4) flashlight in toolbelt AMAZING!!!!

Here is part of the solution.... Zombies who are outside of a building... should not be able to hear footsteps inside of a building period. How often have you stood outside of a supermarket or a pub or an office building and heard people walking around? If someone weighed 400 pounds, opened their window in their office, and did jumping jacks you wouldn't hear his feet hitting the ground from the outside. And the zombie aggro range needs to be reduced by a slight amount. Also... crouch walking should be buffed by a lot. It should be more silent than prone but more visible. This creates more interesting game play. If you want to avoid zombie's sight range but maybe not be heard.. choose to crouch walk. If you want to be more hidden from zombies (and players) but make more noise.. go prone. I think 1.7 was almost perfect. I liked how zombie aggro worked then (except for the whole seeing through walls and hitting through walls part). I think that Zombies aggro should return to this, but they should hit much harder. This way.. stealth is again a viable option.. but if you screw up you will pay the price.

I'll put mine here I suppose I agree. The zombies detection needs to be toned down a bit but otherwise it's a nice patch.

Ok, now once was funny but 3 times is a bit much..

Yea we need a splint option or something. There should be multiple ways to cure a broken bone because it's so debilitating that you basically have to start over if you get unlucky. (trust me, i've done my fair share of crawling looking for morphine to realize that it's bugged out and not spawning.) PROTIP: best way to go upstairs prone is to turn sideways and strafe up until you're on them, then straighten out. You have to find the right orientation to go up on certain stairs (some you have to face left and some you have to face right) -
Prone all day long... when to crouch nowdays?

I think driving a car or a tank would attract less attention than crouching through a city now -
Changes to "SNEAK" ??

I used to be a player that crouch walked everywhere. I was probably the most cautious player in most of the servers that I played in. Hell, I'll sit on a hill and use my binoculars for 10 minutes on a hill before I enter a town. Frankly, the new infected detection is a bit too rough on the stealth players, and much too easy on the "hey i'm going to just make a mad dash for the building and aggro everything. They'll just drop aggro outside the building and I'm fine." players. I've become this type of player... because sneaking into a town is practically impossible now (unless you prone all the way into town and want to be sniped by a bandit). Don't get me wrong please.. I'm someone who enjoys making the game harder when it's necessary, but it seems that we can't avoid zombies any more. I like the no weapon spawn. I like zombies not seeing through walls, but I don't like being forced to dash through cities to be able to scavenge for loot.

God, this hotfix can't come fast enough. I need to find some morphine!
-
you should probably just kill yourself.. in the game' date=' i mean. please stay alive irl [/quote'] I have an alice pack, double barrel, PDW, knife, hatchet, map, compass, watch, box of matches and camo. I don't want to die :(. Once loot is fixed I can find morphine in Zub or crawl back to mogilev
-
I hope it comes soon. I have a broken leg and no morphine. Crawling around zub forever. Game is unplayable for me right now with the loot.
