Recommend a Taviana Private Hive?
dave.mcdaniel04@gmail.com posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey All, Haven't played in months. Looking for some good hives to check out. I haven't tried Taviana yet, and it looks like it could be fun. Chernarus hives would be nice as well. The one I tried to join before still hasn't whitelisted me. Cheers, -MisterFister -

Yep, I'm assuming that most of the people who are playing DayZ now also played back in the dark ages as well. Didn't mean to imply that you didn't struggle through it like the rest of us. Like I said, I'll check out the private hive you recommended. Maybe tonight even. I'm a bit nervous... Somene hold me? -

Thanks! I'll check em out. So duping is still happening, eh? I would think that everyone would have some pretty sick gear then. But if thermal AS50's are removed, I suppose I could deal with it. Edit: Oh, and Hi again! :) -

My biggest concern with dedicating too much to one server is that if a scripter joins it, I'm forced to either start over on another private hive or just logoff and wait for them to get bored and go elsewhere. Things might have changed in the last 7-8 months, but when I left scripting was so rampant that dedicating myself to one server seemed silly. At least to me. -

Hi All, I haven't played DayZ in several months and I really miss the good ol' days. I'm just curious if 50%+ of players in public servers have AS50 Thermals or other duped/hacked one-shot one-kill weapons? I'm assuming de-sync is still an issue, as well as the occasional scripter, but what really killed the game for me was the huge influx of OP weapons due to duping. If this is better on the public hive I'd be inclined to reinstall and give the game another shot. If this is still an issue, how do you guys get around it? I hate the idea of having to limit myself to playing on a single server to stay off of the main hive. Cheers! -MisterFister -

Agreed. Imminent DDOS incoming (from a disgruntled hacker victim probably). -

Yes yes yes, hackers are a problem, and they will continue to be a problem. The thing about the hacking issue is that we have already been told what the situation is. It will take 100 times more manpower to fix the issue now than when standalone gets released, so until standalone we just have to suck it up. It's an unfortunate, but understandable stance. I think there should be a stickied (and locked) thread with this information somewhere however. -
would this be a good videocard/deal

A GTX 460 for $200 is a rip off at this point. If you wait a month or two for the new 660Ti's to saturate the market, the prices will plummet. On a side-note: many publications are rating the GTX660 TI's to be the best bang-for-your-buck right now at about $300. Also, a 460 would only be a marginal upgrade. You can easily get a GTX 560 TI for about $250 that will knock the socks off the 460. This too, will see a price drop in the near future. EDIT: Missed the two video cards part. In either case, I think a wise investment would be in a single 560 TI for about the same price, or better yet a 660 TI for $100 more. A 460 SLI setup will be somewhat comparable to a GTX 570. A GTX 660 TI beats a 580 in most benchmarks. You can always SLI a second 560 TI after the prices drop in another month or so. -
Sweet baby Jesus! I thought I was done with this game until the stand-alone came out, but thankfully I was mistaken. Great job on the hotfix DayZDevTeam, and especially to you Rocket. I'm sure you know that your user-base was dwindling, and it's a shame that there was such lack of communication on this issue, but you pulled through in the end. I hope this is a learning experience for everyone. 1) Communication, good. 2) Patience, good. I think the whole community would've been much more willing to grit our teeth through the troubles with 1.7.2.5 if they had only known the difficulties you and your team faced with addressing the bugs. Weekly updates on what you tried (even if it failed) would've gone a LOOOONG way in keeping your user-base happy. Also, use your bloody forums for updates. Please. Not everyone keeps track of your twitter feeds and interviews. :) Everyone else: try not to be so douchey next time. Fair deal? Thanks again. -MisterFister

So vehicles are saving now...
dave.mcdaniel04@gmail.com posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since vehicles are saving in DayZ now, THANK GOD, I am learning that I need to be a bit more careful with any vehicles me and my mates get put together. Does anyone know of a comprehensive list of vehicles and how many shots it takes to destroy them if hit in multiple locations? For example, how many shots does an M107 take to down a helicopter if the bullet huts the under side of the hull? What about the main rotor? etc. Any help is appreciated! Thanks -

Marvel actually had a solid point, once you looked past his nerd-rage. Pay one guy on your staff to spend one day going through the map and remove all the dead bodies and barbed wire that's causing these artifacts. Then release a patch to the public with these changes. Boom, functioning work-around. It might take TWO whole days for a guy to do this task though. I know, it's asking a lot... The patch would probably be a large one because you would have to download a whole new map, but if it fixes the graphic glitches people won't care. Then if you could work on tents/vehicle saves we'd be golden. Sure hackers are a problem, but they've made it clear they aren't going to work on addressing that issue until stand-alone. Tents and vehicles however were working fine a few patches ago. -

dave.mcdaniel04@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
The graphic glitches disappear when you disconnect or completely close the game and load back into a place that normally has the graphic glitches. In other words, the reason you didn't see artifacts on the second server is because you spawned there. If you spawned further away and hiked there you would've had them. Server settings don't matter, so you will never find a "good" server.
