frendly = half frenzy, half friendly ... I will kill you, but don't take it personal

what is wrong with bicycles? they do not need gas, and are far easier to maintain than cars...
-
I always hoped that dayz standalone would be like the mod, only better I really liked the bicycles, the drop of blood as indicator, which was not very intrusive and did i mention the bicycles?

Usually I cannot tell if I am "50" or "62" hungry, just if I am slightly hungry, hungry, or really hungry, maybe I should meditate more to get a better self perception ?-) also I do not have to open my backpack or pants to check if I need to drink, eat...

A vision of what DayZ 1.0 could look like

don't you want to move/link this in the suggestions forum? -
A vision of what DayZ 1.0 could look like

really nice how you built on the original logo (and integrated twd intro style :-) and, finally! we don't have to check our backpack if we are hungry! *extra beans* for that -
so modding would destroy the game because there would not be enough players for the "real" dayz - but let's "just hope the "easymode" community stays in different games" ?

I miss the possibility to recognize other players, that is, to tell apart the ones I have already met, under which conditions. there have been numerous threads about showing the players name or not (and a lot of valid arguments against it were brought up) other ideas are more sophisticated and propose badges, changing colors, masks etc or even distribution of "wanted" posters to promote the bad reputation of someone. For me these do not match the apocalyptical setting: I might kill 90% of the players I encounter and still are not a bad guy, maybe I had to do it to protect myself or friends... and on the other hand I am not interested in how many others someone else killed ... there is not this kind of good or bad ... But I want to know if this person was an ally or at least neutral when our paths crossed the last time. Therefore it would be nice to have something like the possibility to take notes when someone is close enough and visible - and that these notes are displayed again (this can be in the lower left/right corner, does not need to be linked to the player position) regarding immersion: there was a nice post ( https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/229590-understanding-realism-in-computer-games-through-phenomenology-dayz-discussion/?hl=immersion) pointing out, that e.g. checking the current health status in the inventory can break immersion more than when it is displayed on the HUD ... anyway, that is a different discussion .-)

exactly that is the point! it would lead to more meaningful interactions: now most who are in cover shoot as soon as they can because there is almost no point in waiting...it is almost impossible to recognize someone later if it is your style of playing the game you could sit in the bush all day long... you could see if someone tries to help others, or just shoots on first sight - but the information you could gather is very limited... and in the end you don't know why the person was friendly or not - and if you would be treated the same way but to try to interact with others, talk, would be more useful... and of ocurse the other should be really visible - in the night you would need to be very close... "why not just say "hello, it's so-and-so" " - if I understand you right you mean using the voice chat? - first both have to talk... second recognising someone only by voice is really difficult... edit: "I'm also not seeing the link or parallel you're drawing between player identification systems and knowing the game map.... " ... I was trying to be one step ahead and counter the argument of realism regarding death and memory *blush*
-
it is also not realistic that you can remember how you get from cherno to north west airfield when you just have been washed ashore - probably you would not even know what these names mean... but there are limits to simulation and I am not sure how this could help you to stalk someone... there are no possiblities of tracking, and you don't even know the players name, if he/she does not tell you
-
you usually do not recognise others only based on their looks, a lot of it is the way they move and behave... so someone looks familiar far earlier than you can see the person in full detail... there are limitations on what can be simulated, I would not mind if there is a reasonable work around - and again: it is not ment as a terminator like perfect identification system...

there is no good and bad - https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/230145-travellers-notebook/

I see it coming: you are not just killed and grilled, but kept imprisoned as living stock of fresh meat  I have never done this so far in game (neither in real life ;-) but I don't think that the gameplay should be artificially balanced like that.
-
I just tried to put it in the simplest way, the described UI elements are all already there, but the devs can surprise me ;-) sun glasses or masks make identification more difficult? nice idea! (clothes alone are changed so quickly, and due to their functionality everyone is ending up with more or less the same.. does not really work for identification)

Spawn with random genetic predisposition to diseases to add variety

HIV is NOT manageable by using antibiotics and vitamins, and I think it does no good to spread this idea in games - even if it is only for simplification and for diabetes: good luck in the zombie apocalypse without refridgerators and constant medical supplies it is a blessing of modern health care that we can live with these problems so well regarding skin type/race: not sure what to say... really? it is 2015 -
and actually it happened to me once, that i was on the way, close to starvation, found a can of bean - but only had an axe... I kept on searching, but finally had to use the axe, and lost ~80% of the food ... it was dramatic .-)
-
I like the idea of DayZ that there is no definitive good or bad... just to advertise my suggestion - because non controversial (good ?-) ideas get forgotten quickly the way this forum works... what do you think of: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/230145-travellers-notebook/ ?
-
I disagree that a can opener is faster than an axe just because it's the right tool yes, it's a zombie apocalypse... and I would rather worry about zombies and surviving than if the can opener has to be put in an realistic angle...or it takes a realistic amount of time until I have eaten an apple... - I think the timespans are long enough that you have to consider where to eat, to avoid getting into trouble
-
I completely disagree: regarding realism: 90% of the can openers suck and their handling is not so quick, yet I can smash a can with one swing of my axe - and loose a lot of the content! that food loss does not matter at the moment is a different story, and cannot serve as an argument to turn dayz into a "find 5 ingredients and spend so much of your time to craft item yxz" application of imperfect tools usually not prolongs the task, but more often renders the product worthless I don't understand the obsession to turn games into something tedious, adding simplest tasks for the sake of "realism" - you end up playing a game where you do nothing more than in every day life - well you do it instead of living your life. In almost every house in dayz there is a computer - maybe it should be more realistic, and possible to turn them on and play, let's say a survival game...
-
that is a funny idea :-) I would not like to become dayZ another world of warcraft, "you have to go there, collect this and that, so you can craft the super hicking jacket, giving you +7 stamina, and then you have to apply oil of a stag to run faster..."
-
hell no, I don't want to play an "eating simulator" or spend half an hour to prepare a "campfire" it's a game! zombieapocalypse!!! if you want to spend a realistic amount of time on things: there is a better game, it is called "life" walk to the supermarket, grab you some nice ingredients, and cook yourself a delicious meal or invite someone, and enjoy your time edit: and yes, I can search for things even in my backpack while I am running, might miss a detail on the road and trip, though - so this is quite accurate less realistic is, that i have to go to the inventory to check if i am hungry (once again: https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/229590-understanding-realism-in-computer-games-through-phenomenology-dayz-discussion/?hl=immersion )

if the marking is left to me, this could be the minimal variant, yes
-
checking pulse should not be necessary, just be reasonably close and in view.. but I like the variations how you would present it :-) and then I would like to be able to input some text, like: gave me a can of beans / patched me up / RUN - tried to force feed me! so who knows if I ever knew the real player name, only if the person revealed it to me. Rather a nick name I gave
-
"please shoot me"? no, not at all - I thought more of something like text in the console: "ah, I remember this one: <my note>"

don't know about CLE, but the pencil story nice, but not true: http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/fact-or-fiction-nasa-spen/
