L85A2 gone, no way of combating prone snipers now. -
L85A2 disabled? Reaaaly? DICE?
TractorFiend replied to FrostDMG's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah this will be a problem for clearing out snipers who are camping cherno on the hills. Also for checking the areas in and around the airfields. I didn't actually use the gun its self, just used the thermal scope. -
1.7.5 isn't even out yet

I bought Arma 2 to play DayZ. I thought it was pretty shit at first, after being used to more polished games. But then I found out it was an alpha build, constantly being updated, bugs being ironed out etc, and my attitude towards it changed. Eventually I got one of my mates to play it with me, and the first night we were trying to find each other for ages. It took 3 days to find each other, and when we did, that was it. Hooked. In a nutshell, I think the reason most people love this mod, is because it's a refreshing break from all of the handholding that the other similar genre games have. There are no tutorials, no waypoints, no direction at all. You're dumped on an incredibly hostile island, with no food/water/weapon, no idea where you are or where you're going, and you'll likely die within half an hour of reaching a settlement. It's fucking awesome.

My M107 turned into an AS50. Explain that.
-
That's a good point! I'd like to know how to do this too, as I'm currently using this gun. Switching off NV/Thermal would make it a bit more versatile during the day.
-
Pretty sure this could work. Would make for a more atmospheric and terrifying jog into a town. For authenticity, keep it to the larger, more industrial towns (Cherno, Elektro, Berizino etc) Using the original lamps for now, I'm not sure how hard it would be to turn them into a light source. It would be fairly easy to tie them into the day/night cycle though.
-
Killed by zombies? Shouldn't you turn into a zombie? I'd like to see some sort of system implemented where the DB keeps track of where you (or another player) died, and a special zombie of a player character spawns there after some time, with some pretty sweet loot. Also, military zombies, y u no drop things like sidearms/tools/nvg's? This would encourage people to leave the NWAF occasionally and go looking around at other places, such as green mountain for example.
-
Well if not that, what about the other suggestion I made with the military zombies? Also, what's the deal with calling them 'infected'? Some of them have bullet holes already in them. They're fucking ZOMBIES. 28 days later zombies or no.

Knocking people unconscious without killing them.
TractorFiend replied to PointAndClick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
http://dayzmod.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=7 Some cool ideas though. Many would still chose to kill on sight though, so it might be slightly pointless. -
Update drivers (all of them, video card, network, sound), check temperatures to see if you're getting throttling, check voltages; are your headphones drawing additional power?

I want to be able to spawn as Usain Bolt, so I can get up to the NWAF in 20 seconds when I spawn a new character -
Was your FPS normal in "Modern Shitfare 3235121256"? Most FPS issues you'll get in the DayZ mod is server side, optimisation of the code etc. Try a different server.
-
Central DB one huge disadvantage
TractorFiend replied to JorisK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want your character to be persistent throughout all servers, then this is the way to do it. Otherwise you'll get all sorts of hacks and exploits if everything was server/client side. -
Compound Bow with 7 bolts or Lee Enfield with 3 mags?
TractorFiend replied to beigesponge's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
400 meter range though, I managed to kill someone who was taking potshots at me from a hill northeast of elektro - I was in the school. Is a very useful starting weapon. Just make sure to use it INSIDE buildings, never outside near towns. You'll agro every zed in a huuuuge radius! -

^ this I'd go for the Lee Enfield, but it's very loud and will attract the horde. -
Seeing yourself on your map?
TractorFiend replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think what makes this an awesome game is the whole orienteering side of it. This is the only game I've ever played that forces you to use your brain to figure out where you are, and it's awesome. More game developers need to realise this is the way forward. Most of us are adults and don't need our hands to be held. -
hurr durr, you're so cool
