I'm not sure if has been suggested before, but here i'll give it a go :P Here's the situation. You're in the middle of nowhere, a zombie hits you, and you have no rags. You do have a sewing kit however! So, you do what anyone would do, and stitch it up, like a man. But then you'll start to notice you're getting dizzy, and the wound is infected! Now, if you find yourself in a forest in a real life situation, and you have the ability to create a fire, you could release your inner Brit and start scrambling some herbs together. A can could function as cup, but it's even possible with a plastic waterbottle. It will damage it though, melting it for a bit, but as long as there's water in the bottle it won't break and boil the water instead. So, how would one aquire herbs in DayZ, or how could it actually improve gameplay? Since we can now get stones and twigs by searching it on some textures, the same technique could be applied with herbs. Nettle, and some goose grasses are all edible, and goose grass can be found in fields regularly, so i'd say goose grass is the way to go. The canteen and plastic bottle can both be used in a fire, but it will damage it for a bit. That way it's a bit of a sacrifice to get healed in the wilderness. Drinking tea however doesn't instantly cure a disease, but it has a minor chance it would. Possible recipes: Filled Canteen/filled water bottle + Goose Grass = Tea Description: When cooked = Cooked tea Description: Keeping it in the fire for a long time, will simply ruin the canteen or bottle, with a chance to extinguish the fire. When tea is cooked, it can be kept with you on your journey, and can also be consumed cool. I think DayZ needs tea, because i'm very sure it will enhance the roleplaying aspect, as well as improving survival rates in the wilderness. That way you don't have to either drink until you puke, wait the sickness out, or get yourself some cure in a hospital in a crowded city. Any thoughts on this? :P
