Not the worst time, I started the very day after they had removed starting with a pistol. Its very tough when you first play. If you're persistent you can easily learn quickly. Ive played the game a total of 14 hours now, and I almost never die without finding a gun these days. Keep going, its a great game, especially if you have clan mates to play with!

YES I have personally never played the game with starting weapons on. I like the challenge of finding a gun although frustrating at times. As long as the game avoids a mass influx of trolls or a troll group then everything should be fine. The odd bandit killing weaponless is realistic. When it grows to the scale of being trolling, then its an issue.

Ive been killed while weaponless a few times, kind of frustrating, especially when you've built up some other nice items like hunting knives and hatchets. But then again, I suppose it makes the kill worth it for the other players.

Cant seem to get it working properly. Ive got Day Z 1.7.1 downloaded, and ive downloaded and installed the latest beta patch for arma 2. Not sure if I did that correctly though. I installed it into the Expansion Beta folder. it opens the game from the updater fine now, but I had to download the Day Z files manually. When I open the game I can connect to servers but I spawn into an open world with nothing but hills and empty corpses. Ive tried all the steam launcher extensions and stuff. Any suggestions on how to get it working? Thanks
