Liberation! (Mechanic of reclaiming towns for Survivors)

A much simpler way of being able to hold towns as bases is to just have zombies not able to spawn within 150-200 meters of players. That would feel more natural imo, and would need hardly any coding at all

    Very brief zombie behaviour suggestions

Forgot to add that I think zombies should be able to run indoors, which would balance out the fact that they would be easier to hit when aggroed seeing as the zig-zag run would be removed
  3. Great idea, but how'd you fit this in with the soldier zombies that patrol the crash sites?
  4. RobbL (DayZ)

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

I reckon that zeds shouldn't spawn in about 200 metres of the player so you can clean out towns and hold them as a base or safe zone, and zeds should only spawn every 10 mins or something. Makes more sense and is more immersive than zombies just popping up out of nowhere all the time
  5. RobbL (DayZ)

    Defibrillation

I don't think you should be able to revive people who have died from headshots though, for obvious reasons
  6. RobbL (DayZ)

How to make the blood system more realistic

Good ideas, but for realism I reckon you should only be able to revive players who die from gradual blood loss, not single attacks or headshots ect.
  7. I'm just gonna explain this idea very briefly because i'm lazy I suggest that two new stats be added to the game, 'morale' and 'courage' Players start with medium-high morale and low courage These stats reset after you die Morale: Your morale level depends on a number of factors, including ones that decrease it- Killing players with low courage or high humanity (just to note, humanity would have to reset when you die for this suggestion to work properly. Maybe someone can suggest a way around that but I can't think of any myself) Looting the corpses of players with low courage or high humanity And make it decrease over time- When zombies are nearby, the nearer they are the faster the decrease Blood level, the lower your blood level the faster the decrease Injuries like broken bones, ect. Being nearby a player that has shot you (or very close to you) more than once within 5 minutes (just in case of friendly fire), the nearer they are the faster the decrease There are also factors that increase it- Interacting with other players, e.g. bandaging or blood transfusing them (both players involved get a morale boost) Killing players with low humanity Killing zombies Eating and drinking And make it increase over time- Being nearby other players (apart from those with low humanity), the closer they are the faster it increases Your morale level affects you in a number of ways (I only thought these up quickly, maybe you have better ideas)- High morale increases your endurance, and so can go slightly longer without food or water, can run for longer without getting out of breath and you're more resistant to pain As your morale decreases, you experience these effects. First your endurance decreases, then your aim starts to get shakier and after that you may panic when zombies are near and uncontrollably fire your weapon Courage: The higher your courage, the less the factors that decrease your morale affect you. Courage can only increase The factors that increase your courage are- Killing zombies Killing players with low humanity (can't think of anything else) This would mean that you would have to work together with other players to start off with, but could depend on them less as you progress Now I don't know if this system is overcomplicated and would be too much of a fuss rather than enhance the gameplay experience, but i'm open to your ideas if you think you can improve this suggestion I can also imagine this would be difficult to balance and get to work nicely in the game Done.

    Is it really?

As long as realism and enjoyment isn't sacrificed for difficulty I don't care Meaning I do care about superhuman infi-spawn zombies
  9. Not as flamboyantly as these crazy ass zombies though. Snakes just wiggle their bodies, not dart all over the place like Usain Bolt running through a minefield after snorting a bag of cocaine and downing one too many espressos
  10. No living organism on that has ever existed on this planet runs like that
  11. RobbL (DayZ)

    CROSSBOWS - Your opinion?

It would be cool if you could apply poison to bolts Maybe different types of poison that make zombies attack each other or survivors go mad and shoot uncontrollably everywhere
  12. RobbL (DayZ)

Hands up if the game is too Easy.

The zombie behaviour in 1.7.1 was way unrealistic and buggy, why'd you want that? Ideally for me the zombie behaviour should be like this: -Zombies should not be able to spawn within about 200 hundred meters of players. This would make it possible to clear out towns and parts of cities and hold them as a sort of base and safe zone for fellow survivors. -Zombies should also spawn in longer intervals, say every 20 mins. A player could come across a town empty of zombies which would notify them of the risk that there could be other players nearby -Zombies should run in roughly straight lines towards you, not zig-zag all over the place like Usain Bolt after one to many espressos and a few snorts of cocaine (or at least slow down slightly when they get into zig-zagging distance of you) To make up for these changes which you could argue make zombies less dangerous I reckon zombies should be made much more unpredictable as a threat -There should be roaming hordes of zombies, say 15-35 of them in size, that travel randomly across the map. This would make zombies a threat out in the wilderness as well as in the predetermined spawn areas -Some zombies should be stealthy. Zombies that are quiet and stick to corners, alleys, doorways, ect. that a player could run into without seeing or hearing them first -Also zombies that can play dead. Some should spawn as what appear to be corpses, but jump up and attack any player that comes close. Zombies should have a chance of appearing to die when they get to a low amount of health, but like above, jump up when a player comes near. This would make players much more cautious of corpses, worrying if they're dead or not -Zombies should be more lethal when they actually reach you. Maybe they could have attacks that knock you down onto the floor, and it takes a short amount of time to get back up

    Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update

I think the biggest problem with the update is this... INFI-ZOMBIES!
  18. RobbL (DayZ)

    Do you like 1.7.1?

  19. RobbL (DayZ)

    Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update

I think that's just because they don't feel pain and are in a constant state of rage so can push themselves further than your normal human, not that they're actually stronger or anything. Anyway, it's a virus, and generally viruses are gonna inhibit both your mental and physical performance, so imo zombies shouldn't be superhumans
  20. RobbL (DayZ)

    Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update

Zombies are basically people though... so if zombies can do stuff your average human can't, then that's unrealistic
