I can't play for more than 10-15 mins until I get the message. The strange thing is for the first few weeks after I bought the game this never happened. It happened when servers restarted but not just all the time. Now it happens all the time. Every server, every game. I watch my ping and it's typically under 30 and my bandwidth is in the 300-400 range whatever that means. Low to 0 desync. But still, after 10-15 minutes drop. I exit and rejoin immediately and much of the time my guy is just where I left him, though if I was near zombies I'm usually dead and respawn and if I'm near other players I'm always dead and respawn when I rejoin, but it's just so annoying since it didn't do it before. It's been going on for like 2 weeks now. I really want to enjoy the game but this is just stupid and since there are a lack of others posting similar issues recently I feel it's something with me. How can I troubleshoot the cause and get it fixed. The game isn't fun. Last time I played I dropped while driving underwater to the prison island. When I rejoined my car was 200 yards behind me and my legs immediately broke. I crawled to the beach and rolled around a while looking for a way to make a splint until it disconnected again. By that point I was hypothermia. I don't want a refund and I know this is alpha but I want to enjoy the game and to do that I at least need to stay connected.

I'm on a surface so it's my only option. I can't plugin. That doesn't really explain though why it started. Looking back it seems to have started around the time 53 was released. Edit: I do have a USB adapter, not sure why I didn't think of that. When I get back home I'll try that out and see if the issue persists.

So I ran a ping against google for two sessions (disconnects). Each time I got the message I quickly Alt-Tab out of DayZ to see the ping list and neither time was there a break in the pings. I did notice during the game when I would stutter or skip forward for a moment or the right click on an item was unresponsive I would Alt-Tab out and I would have a request timed out right then, but after 1-3 requests it would pick back up pinging and the game was fine. It was during moments of no noticeable lag, stutter, or ping timeout that the No Message Received popped up. Now I am currently in a hotel (with decent internet by the way) but the way its acting it identical to how its been acting at home the past few weeks.

How do you know they are more frequent. Most servers I join restart every 2-4 hours.

Did something happen recently? I've never had disconnects until recently. Now I can't stay on a server for more than 10-15 mins before I get the no message received thing and I have to leave and come back.

I'd one up this. I find myself with too much food most of the time, but maybe that's because of the weekly resets or whatever. (I don't fully understand what causes a respawn of items). I think farming should take at least several hours, if not a full 24. I don't think it needs to be as tedious as needing to be weeded, but simply requiring watering every hour or so would make things very interesting. It would force people to farm near water or wells thus increasing the chances of run-ins with other people. If not watered enough, the output could be diminished or the plants would die if neglected. Animals I'm sort of split. I rarely see any, but I agree when I do it's far to easy to get close. That being said, I do find it too easy to kill them. I axed a hog. It took 2 hits too. Granted it ran after the first one, but a wild boar would never allow me to get close enough to ax it. I understand it's all alpha so it's not a complaint, just hoping the devs have it on the road map. I love the idea of creating your own "settlement" with farming plants and animals in pens and such. Maybe this game will never be designed to allow players to become established, but the outcome would be so amazing. Having groups of people attack other established settlements. However until persistence is figured out and some of the mechanics with farming and such it's not the case. This game has such amazing potential, however I fear its going to fall into a trap of trying to be too much. Is it a survival zombie game or a outdoor survival game, or a build you own town game?

After about an hour or two I avoid contact at all costs. Or if I happen to have a gun and ammo that match. At that point, I'll probably KoS unless you are moving in the opposite direction.

Generally I get shot and killed, but the other day I was a freshie off the coast and a pair of guys happened upon me while I was looting a shed looking for an axe. They had guns and told me to drop my pack. I obeyed of course and they just took a couple of things and left. At least they let me live. Can't their be honor among thieves. I'll gladly give you whatever you want so I don't have to relive the last 20 minutes starting over.

I believe you need a status of "healthy" but I've wondered the same thing. I've been like you at times and experienced no noticeable healing.

So I've played through a few deaths and I feel I'm starting to get the hang of things. I've died to my share of bandits, dick heads, elements, and zombies, but through it all I have a few questions that after investigating still remain unanswered. Is there any "trick" to building up stuff. I feel like I'm full within 20 mins of spawn and have no real way to establish myself and build up materials. (I know is's alpha and I'll probably die/wipe anyway). I get persistent servers I think, and if I stick to them I only have to worry about their resets that happen occasionally, but what then. I can only hold so much. Item damage seems very random. Is this an alpha thing? Sometimes I one hit zombies with prod, crowbard, etc, and other times it can take multiple hits, and sometimes, so many it seems pointless to fight. Does quality of item affect damage or just longevity? Is it realistic to "live" for multiple days? I see people with a ton of gear is that from just knowing where to go and playing for an hour or is that truly found and saved up stuff. If it's long, whats a trick to get established. Sometimes I find stuff and when I try to pick it up it goes to my 1-0 inventory as white but stays on the ground. Then I mess with it a few times and finally it goes into my inventory. Is there a trick to picking up things. I feel like its simply a alpha issue. I've picked up like 6 stoves in one sitting this way. Are there things you can't do in 3rd person view? I happened on a server that I swear was like a loot farm. Didn't like it. Is this a thing? Where the F can I get a water container.

Please record this every time you do it. Could make for some very interesting vids, -
Thanks to the comments. A few more though. Occasionally I get a "You have not received a message in x seconds" counter. Is this the server restarting? Seems I usually have to log off that server and go in a different one or back in the same one and typically it spawns me a small distance from where I left. How much can I "store" or setup a base? If I drop a bunch of crap in a single spot, how long will it stay. Should I look for one of these tents? If I get one will it stay. I've read different things. I really want to get an axe and farming equipment and try to setup shop outside a decent town and farm, kill animals, store water in canteens/bottles etc. Is this possible or will my stuff keep disappearing. (I get it it's alpha) but is there supposed to be a way to have your stuff stick around? I've read different things about max item counts, persistence in some things but not others. I feel like without good persistence the alpha is a bit limiting, but will be so awesome once they get it figured out. WTF do I use the pot for. Do I put water and vegetables in it or something? Does it improve food in anyway or sort of pointless. Is there anyway to "craft" a knife of some sort for skinning animals or is that only found. I'm having a real hard time getting around. I have no clue how to tell where I spawn. I'm fine just wandering around and roaming to different cities, but I'd love to know where I'm at. And F you bandits who KoS. Last time I trust anyone.

DayZ Standalone Or Arma 2 DayZ mod?
leeish replied to PinoyRiceShop's topic in New Player Discussion
I've watched gameplay online running on the i5 4GB version and I know it's not like running on a decent PC, but hey, I'm not expecting it to run 1080 with full textures and what not, but I'd love it if I could talk to someone with experience. Hoping to hook up my Xbone controller to it as well. -
DayZ Standalone Or Arma 2 DayZ mod?
leeish replied to PinoyRiceShop's topic in New Player Discussion
All these posts in here about the standalone are so old I'm trying to determine if I want to purchase this game. I have to play a game for a class so it's not a in it for the long haul sort of thing. If I like the game I may purchase the SA when it comes out. I want to purchase whichever of the two is "more complete" at the current moment. I would assume the Mod is but the SA has been released for a year so I'm not sure. Also I'm running this on a Surface Pro 3, so I want to get the one that will run better. I know neither will run ideal and will most likely need to be run a low settings. I'm leaning towards the Mod since I imagine the Arma II engine would be more polished and the Mod would be more complete vs the SA running on a new/updated engine might be less polished and the SA lacking in many features. Is my assumption correct/still the case. Most of these complaints threads are 6-8 months old (any very long to read through) and I don't know how to trust them anymore. The goal is to have as fun of an experience as I can while running this on a Surface pro 3 for the next 10-12 weeks and to help me know if I would purchase the SA when released. I understand both are in Alpha and both have their share of glitches/bugs what have you.
