shut up and take my beans! (nice post, you summed it all up quite well.)

if Combat Logging is bannable, there would be a string of bans for people who escaped a fight legit and left the server. so it shouldn't be. file support tickets, people

running from town to town is not a safe bet. take it slowly, find a deer stand with a weapon (at the very least, an axe or pistol), and then stealthily make your way to your friend. DayZ requires patience and planning, unlike most other FPS games. do not fire the gun unless it is urgent, as the noise attracts zombies. and most of all, expect to die! this game is about surviving as long as you can, and even pros die often. also, going prone makes you near-invisible to zombies. use prone in a town, crouch-run elsewhere. when shooting, aim for the head. axes will 1-hit a zombie, i think it takes 3 hits to kill a player, but melee can KO players DayZ has a steep learning curve, it's not a run, shoot, run, shoot COD-, Halo- or TF2-ish mod.

Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ

ten-minute cooldown for respawn is a good idea. the constant respawn for good spawn point thing is bad, because: 1 it puts strain on the authentication server 2 the "average life expectancy" is affected by it. i heard it was at 3 hours once, now it's 30 minutes, probably spam-respawning contributed to that -

Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ
El Barto 227 replied to Sticky (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
house building would be nice, but i don't think the ArmA engine can do it. fortifying doors and windows, easy. hmm, what about fire damage/burning up? maybe you could get set on fire somehow (explosions, molotovs, stepping on campfires etc) and go into a perma-sprint mode until the flames extinguish (by jumping into water, surviving for a short while, using a canteen or two to douse yourself, etc) -
Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ

the Skyrim follower was a joke. i like the cure idea, not sure how it should be implemented though.i think in older stories they were walking dead, but modern versions are all viruses that cause rabies-like symptoms, probably with some form of necrosis (unnatural cell death, the "rotting") and several other things like that. -
Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ

El Barto 227 uses Bump! It's Super Effective! some very nice ideas here. i can imagine using a tow truck on a bus loaded with people to drag them away into a death trap. just drag them to Cherno and attract zombies. a suggestion: getting hit by cars! you can ram a zombie with a car to do damage relative to your speed, and perhaps flip them over the car. i can imaghine players getting broken bones etc from cars. rocket could have the player flip over the car and then take damage upon landing. also, if cars collide, they should be damaged, along with the occupants. a slow crash, eh, not much damage to the car, players fine, but a high-speed smash could kill the driver and shotgun passenger and harm the other passengers, maybe kill one or two. heli crashes could cause explosions? sounds like your typical Skyrim follower -
great ideas, so +1. shut up and take my beans

i live in australia, the rating system is fine. but games don't have an R18, which seems stupid. but it's being introduced next year, i thinkcome to think of it, no R18 for games might be good... (jk)

nope, i want chicks being a pimp, DayZ style

idk know much about game engines, but i hate the CoD engine and love Valve's Source engine. so if an engine switch happens (i'm not suggesting using Source), make sure it's not going to make DayZ feel like not-DayZ

yes, of course it will. just remember to turn off the defibrillator so that you can't be dissapointed if it doesn't work

DayZ has become quite popular for a mod that's still in Alpha, and i think that it could benefit from having an official wiki, most likely created by Rocket (because he is the main Dev, he sould get the honour of starting it, and that would prove it's officialness). this may be just a mod, but it has great potential, and it will be truly amazing when completed. the reason i think it should be started now (if at all) is that the mod is incomplete. if we wait until it is complete, there could be 5x as much to do to get a DayZ wiki up to a decent standard. it would be easier to start it now, and add information from updates as they come. that way we can have a nice shiny and 95-99% ready wiki when the mod is officially out of Beta, not months later. a DayZ Wiki would be great for new players still learning the ropes to find out stuff like "What is a bandit?" (i was on this forum for more than an hour before i found out what it meant. going to (example only) "DayZ.wikia.com/wiki/Bandit" would be easier) and pro players alike. if you wanted to check out a map of Chernarus or what that thing chomping on your brains is, a wiki would be a great solution. i would suggest using Wikia, because it has everything we need for this. imagine a wiki page with a dark background and silver text, with red links (sounds familiar?). i've used Wikia, and i like it a lot, and it's quite easy to learn how to use it properly. before Rocket makes it (IF he decides to), we need to come up with some feedback and ideas such as: Name. DayZ Wiki would be direct and to the point, but perhaps we could think of something more creative. something with Chernarus or DayZ etc in it? Colour scheme and background image. i suggest a theme simillar to these forums, but we could choose something else. URL address. all wikia wikis have something like "teswiki.wikia.com for "The Elder Scrolls Wiki". dayz.wikia.com or dayzmod.wikia.com? and anything lse you can come up with. perhaps a cool layout for the main page? affliated wikis? etc. so, who agrees? who disagrees? who has any constructive critisism? I'd really love to get Rocket's opinion on this. thank you all for reading, i hope you like this suggestion.

Niemands "Automatic Signature-Banners"
El Barto 227 replied to Niemand (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
my fvourite MineCraft server has something like this, and i'm pretty sure that this could be implemented easily. here is my banner showing my stats on the server: (the actual stats are a lot higher, playtime should be way higher because the badges are relatively new, but you probably get the point) -
Remove The Screen Shake While In Pain.

agreed. INFINITE shaking makes no sense -
+1, nice idea and could be handy, perhaps to leave a warning, or distract someone while you use a sniper rifle to kill them
