Hi guys. So i have been playing DayZ on and off since December 2014. I started playing for a few days after they added the new patch with the updated graphics engine etc. to the stable branch. No problems updating the game or BattleEye. But i got caught up in playing other games. So today i wanted to check if there has been any updates to the game and if my character still existed. I was happy to see my old character still in the intro screen. But when i tried to fast connect to my last server it didn't work. So i figured the server was offline and i go to change to a new server. However, i can only find a handful of servers to which i cant connect. They are called TEST0, TEST1 and TEST 10, all of which are empty, and than there are some servers called BattleEye FREE which also do not work. I have checked my filters and they are set to default. I have already downloaded and installed the latest BattleEye dll for DayZ. But the problem remains. I tried searching for news about updates or server down times / maintenance but came up empty. Anybody can explain what is going on here? Thanks in advance.

I should have a worn civilian tent on 3PP somewhere. Would trade it for the rail handguard. I dont need the ak 101. Ill have to check when i get home from work.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
nillie replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
A question about the zombies. Maybe it has been addressed somewhere in this massive topic before, in which case i apologize for my laziness. BTW : this question is for the sake of immersion and realism, not to give negative comments. Ive just been playing for a while now, and im starting to ask myself questions about the game. Searching the forum, i have figured out that the zombies are in fact living humans that have become infected with some sort of virus. Now : since i seem to be starving after not eating for 20 minutes in the game, shouldn't these infected be starving as well? Not to mention dehydrating? Or do zombies still hydrate/feed on loot like we do. Or do they supposedly feed on the uninfected? We can see zombies chasing wildlife, so in my head, zombies will chase and try to kill any living thing other than fellow zombies. I imagine that they will take up at least some liquids while biting and killing... But i dont think the infected are eating us / wildlife? If thats the case, why do they keep surviving? True immersion and realism would mean that the infected (assuming they take up fluids while attacking), could survive around 4 weeks before starting to fall like flies from starvation. To implement this ingame, Persistent Servers could run for 31 days, with the last few days seeing a massive decline in infected, before resetting the zombie count and starting the whole thing over. This brings offcourse a big number of problems with it : Firstly : counter immersion problems and dilemma's : Do characters reset also? Do bases reset? People probably will not like this idea? etc... Also : if you let infected starve after only 30 days, its quite immersion breaking if survivors still starve after 20 minutes, so thats a big no go. Even if newly infected people are migrating into Chernarus from the north, eventually they will all starve to death rather fast, and having infected running around for months after the original infection incident would be unrealistic considering they way infected are explained at the moment. In conclusion : For immersion's sake : perhaps they should find a way to answer these questions, or maybe they already have and i just dont know. Otherwise they should maybe rethink the background story behind these infected? -
Chance of becoming Infected/Zombie (Non controllable) (Not walking dead)
nillie replied to theswedishcathead's topic in Suggestions
I actually like this idea. Imagine running in to your infected previous character :) Also : it would provide people with a reason to go out and kill infected because they might carry good loot on them from the time when they where still survivors. And if you are dead, you are dead and have to start over anyway. What does it matter if your character becomes an infected or not. The only problem is getting your gear back from your previous self. Also : it would encourage people to team up and kill zombies with bullets instead of using them on each other, as the fear of getting bitten increases. You can be immune to an airborne virus, and still become infected by getting a mutated strain from a bite (getting the strain in your bloodstream). This would also open up some cool torture possibilities for bandits : Giving infected blood to their victims for example. I understand why people would dislike it as well tho. But good read ! getting your gear back from your infected previous self would be a nice metagame. Imagine that infected roam from town to town. You could let yourself get killed, then respawn, and run around looking for your previous character to kill it off and get your gear back. Asking other survivors : "have you seen a zombie with a pink baseball cap and a riders jacket?"... LOL -
Get rid of it : Its a lot more trouble than it is useful, and a quick look inside the trading post will show u that nobody really wants one. Even the normal tent is hard to use. Right now, tents are basicly only good for some cool screen shots. Having to pick it up every Wednesday will result in you having to place everything that was inside the tent, inside your inventory somehow, forcing you to drop stuff anyway. If you want to store stuff for long periods of time there is only one sure way : use a mule account or account(s)... And even then that is quite stupid seeing as public characters get wiped regulary in alpha, and private servers go down permanently or get wiped all the time as well. My advice : get a firearm, put the tent in a military location and find a good hidden spot with a clear shot, and then wait for greedy server hoppers to come check it out. As they are trying to find a way to put it in their inventory or play around with it, you can shoot them and take their military gear and have some laughs.

To summarize the post below : Rail kits, conversions and rail compatible optics are available for any law enforcement or government agency, as well as civilian gun owners in Russia. In military terms , they are only issued to currently operational units (in limited numbers). 99% of the arsenal stored in Russian military bases will have no scopes or rails. Conscripts and regulars will probably never eve see or hold a PSO-1 scope, as they are normally issued to a matching SVD sniper rifle, which in turn is only issued to a marksman. Weapon manufactures like Izhmash have begun offering rail conversions for their weapons, or even producing weapons with integrated rails like the Mk 107. There are also 3rd party manufactures (like Zenitco in Moskow), who offer rail hand guards, railed scope mounts and top receivers for a large variety of AK family weapons. These can be freely purchased by individuals and organizations. I agree that they have certainly become increasingly popular with local law enforcement agencies, government agencies and special forces, as well as civilian gun owners... However, the military modernization program started after the invasion of Georgia has once again stalled. I think we need to make a clear distinction between weapons beeing tested in limited numbers by OPERATIONAL UNITS, and weapons kept in storages at normal military bases and ammunition stockpiles. It all depends on how you look at Chernarus really. Do you consider it a place where the Russian military was actively operating ? The you should probably find rail accessories here and there, but they should not be common. In fact, if you would want the military bases to reflect what a normal Russian military base would look like, there should be nothing there but a pile of AKM / AK 74 machine guns, RPG's and lots of stockpiled ammunition. As stated by somebody before : Infantry regulars will not have any scopes. PSO-1 scopes typically come attached to a matching SVD rifle. This does not change overnight. It would literally take decades to start converting AKMs and AK-74s stored at military bases with any sort of kit or scope. Therefor, Russia plans to simply find a cheap and easy to produce modern rifle with integrated rails (like the A-545) and simply produce off the shelf optics and accessories with it. Finally : IMHO : Rails should never be a craftable item, its just not realistic imho. AK type Rail kits should be available in limited numbers and various shapes and sizes, and should be interchangabe between most if not all AK type rifles, with possible exceptions for the Krinkov and maybe the AKM. They should not be found as a standalone, and should spawn randomly attached to weapons. The survivor can then simply detach the rail and attach it to his own weapon, or simply loot the entire weapon. Perhaps a screwdriver may be needed to do this. Also : the more commonly known russian close range optics like Kobra, have variants that can be used on weaver or picatinny rails as you can see in the picture posted by the OP.. Most russian optics, even the modern ones, still use the AK type side mount which usually comes attached to the optics. Again : loads of different variants with 0 standardization. All different shapes and sizes, but they all fit tho.

Just add a craftable ghillie wrap for the SMERSH backpack and make it compatible with the full ghillie suit. I dont think you would really need a wrap for the SMERSH backpack tho, its low profile and has decent camo to start with, so maybe they could just make the SMERSH compatible with the ghillie suit.

As the game currently stands, they should not put magazines in guns imho. Firstly : if its realism you want, the majority of weapons have loaded magazines in them or near them. But many of these weapons will have been used, so the magazine would not be full to start with. Secondly, other survivors who find weapons, will always remove said magazines, either for having magazines and bullets themselves, or to hamper any survivors that find the weapon after them. Secondly, due to the lack of threats from zombies and climate in the current version, about the only thing to do is find magazines for weapons. Either by looting your favorite places, or hunting for people who might have already found them. If they add working zombies and make them abundant and actually dangerous to players, then i would say : spawn guns with magazines. Or : Police/military zombies who carry clips and bullets for weapons, and make them lootable when killed. Gives people a reason to actually go out of their way to kill zombies and gives them some reward for doing so. Using weapons should in turn trigger more zombies to spawn near you, giving you the possibility of more bullets/magazines, but forcing you to use them as well.

PSO1 Scope Spawn Locations (share your experience)
nillie replied to Jabberwock00606's topic in General Discussion
PSO-1 scope ONLY spawns inside long barracks in military bases. A lot of people seem to confuse the PSO-1, which is very rare, with the PU scope, which is common and found in various civilian locations. The scopes are totally different btw... Your best bet is to find one on the top bunk bed of the last bedroom. But they can spawn anywhere in the barracks. Looking anywhere else is futile i believe. I have not found one in 0.53 either; but i found 3 in 0.52, all in previously mentioned location. -
Sometimes people just find a gun they have never used before, and want to see how much damage and effect it has on other players, as killing zombies isn't exactly a good way to find out. Killing a fresh spawn is the easiest way to do this, as it shows how much bullets u need to kill a fellow human, without the risk of said human shooting back. Its also easier to live with i guess, as opposed to going out and seeking a fully geared good guy player who has accumulated hours of gear searching, and then shooting him in the back. These people tend to forget that shooting at a guy in t-shirt is completely different from shooting at a guy with a press vest and ballistic helmet who is shooting back at you with a bigger gun.\ And some people just have their own reasons that you cant hope to understand.

Woman with frying pan is south of the Elektro railway station. Look for where the 3 tracks converge into one single track leaving Elektro. There is a railway crossing ahead with a pub next to it, and the sign is in that area

Your best bet of finding 30 round mags in 0.52 where at following locations : - Small log houses that usually have guns inside. - Piano houses (on the shelves) - Police station gun rooms - Police station roofs - on top of hospital/office building roof or in their gun rooms (this was actually where i found my last 30 rnd mag, just hours before 0.53 hit ontop of office roof). - Car graveyards near Berezino and south of Novo, or at car graveyard near Novy Sobor - The car wreck near the big hangar at Kozlovka I have only ever found 10 round mags at car wrecks, but i dont think they are all that usefull if you can find the 30 round mag just as easy at multiple locations. Note 1 : I have actually found 30 round mags at all of those locations. Note 2 : I have not used a sporter .22 in 0.53 stable, and i have not looked for one or its mag either Note 3 : I have spent plenty of time in military areas in 0.53, and i have not seen a single 30 round sporter mag anywhere, so my guess is they still spawn in civilian areas like before. In some servers, the spawn rate and economy seems to be weird, and you will find repeaters etc inside long barracks, instead of the usual nothing or military loot, and i guess there is a chance of finding sporter gear there to. Mostly sporters and low tier weapons are there because somebody picked up an AK and dropped their stuff there before you came along. Good luck exiting the barracks... The sporter 22 is a great gun to use when you are looting military areas with a lot of infected. You can take care of the Z's, while your parnter(s) loot the area. Its not verry good for pvp imho, unless you play first person and know how to shoot. Most people just tap away in 3PP and you can take a ton of .22 hits....

I find it easy to find V3S trucks since 0.53 tbh
