Did you considered that your harddrive is may broken? CHKDSK? Consistence Check? Defrag? Cheap way to be sure: borrow or buy a small hdd, move your entire steam games folder via settings to the "new" hdd and try again. Also the relocating trick could help to get rid of your "experimental-setting" I would try it like this 1. remove game 2. move game folder 3. install game If you dont know how to relocate your steam game folder google it, its not hard.

POLL: How happy are you with the buildings and map?
Freshmen replied to ColonelBurton's topic in General Discussion
Actually i got the idea for a golf resort from the horror flick "Carriers" For those who don't know the movie: A group of teenagers are like the last on earth after an infective virus has wiped out almost the entire humanity(sounds similar?). They travel around in a car till they find this abadoned golf resort which they want to make their new home. Too bad it turns out it isn't abadoned but owned by bandits. Well you can figure the rest out. Edit: GOLFCARTS!!!! -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.

How would it be, if 3rd person makes you hear less? -

Two words: Golf resort also: Shopping Centre + Zombies = Win -
= Running sideways while shooting? Is that even possible without spraying all over the place? If i would try, i would fell over the next root and shoot myself in the knee. Maybe possible with one handed guns/subs but with rifles?
-
Isn't that already kind of on the roadmap? They plan that you can attach bandanas and stuff to your arms. Like all wear green, or all wear black patch.

You watched too many Harry Potter bro. How ever, there are also real cloaks (like these from Lord of The Rings) Anyway count me in

Sry didn't read the thread. Was punching my door open, couldn't find keys.

Sounds really cool and i would really like to see this. BUT I can't believe it's possible because there would be just so many questions about the mechanics behind this and how the gaming experience would change. The modeling work would become ridiculous or it would just look crappy.
-
So cool idea, i feel like Sherlock Holmes right now. We also need the "grab your chin and think about it" gesture

Honestly, who shoots in 3rd person? 3rd is only spray and pray. And i would like this very much. Would be cool to have a basecap in the backpack to cut out the sun while aiming. While motorhelmlets would have its use in cities due its knockout protection.

Why is Bohema so bad when it comes to AMD?
Freshmen replied to john5220's topic in General Discussion
Well let me try to explain the whole multicore Intel/Amd stuff. At least as far as i know. Like 10 years ago the people came to something called manufacturing cap. Which means they couldn't build processors any more smaller. This is because if they would build them smaller the wires in it would just burn out like in a bad light bulb. So they couldn't go any smaller means they couldn't become faster. So they tried to find a way around this problem. At the same time i believe companies which build servers like HP/Dell rather then Amd/Intel were making attempts to put two (singlecore-)processors into one server. They found themselves being able to use this processors simultaneously like for two different programs/threads. So for example: they were able to run program A on the first core and program B on another core. So while they effectively doubled their computing power, they still weren't able to use this extra power. At least not with a single program. So somebody asked: "What would be if we code that program in a way that it splits up its work on several cores?" This technology is still pretty fresh and it's whats happening these days. Developers are trying to find out how exactly they can get the full power out of the multicores. While it's "easier" at applications like music rendering it become really tough when it comes to games. Because games are usually doing most things in a single process/task and splitting this to multiple cores can generate problems like lags. Also the operating systems are mostly using one core which means if a program/game has to wait for the OS it could have 1000 cores and it wouldn't make it any faster. Today we got the same multicore technology from the servers shrinked down to "a single processor with multiple cores" but we still struggle to code programs (especially games) to split up to these multiple cores. This will probably enhance in the next 10 years because everything is still new to coders and the OSs will probably be more focused on multicore then today. So while Intel was more looking forward to squeeze even the last Mhz out of their processors AMD was more into the multicore thing. That's basically why all games nowadays have to struggle with AMD processors and not only Dayz. If you were able to find a game that runs well with your AMD it can have two reasons: 1. The devs made an outstanding job on splitting their threads to multiple cores, while the whole engine has to be predestinated to that task. 2.(more likely) The game simply don't needs that much power and would also run on an Intel, even if the Intel has only the half of cores which your AMD has. There also another phenomena that a single AMD core at 3,2Ghz is still slower than a single Intel core with 3,2Ghz. This comes from different manufacturing technologies and can observed in many benchmarks. If your system isn't maxed out like in ricp case (or also mine), that's a complete different thing and mostly tied to bad optimization(let me say the Alpha word at this point). Your next PC: get an Intel CPU if you like gaming rather then multitasking on editors and watch the progress of operating systems. If i made horrible mistakes in my description feel free to comment -
I don't have any problems with that not knowing thing if it is presented in a way which is well rounded up. I just mentioned the lack of story related to this topic: Should zombies eat flesh And usually what i read about this topic is just like your arguring: They no zombies they infected they don't eat. So i just wonder how could they survive for maybe month without food. My reasoning tells me they had to stop their metabolic and become in fact undead and real zombies. But then everyone rages again and tells me they aint no zombies they just infected. If you don't like infected eating, thats ok. But if you want to argure about why they don't have to eat don't use arguments like "Just play and don't ask it's just a game"
-
I just said i would like more background story :(
-
So me, who is using tools and arms and scavenging all day dies in pretty much 2-7 days. But a braindead one who don't eat lives longer then me. Meh im doing something wrong.
-
I call it a nade job. At least if one is in those bags :P
-
So tell me again. Why shouldnt they eat flesh?^^ If it's just disbelief and fiction noone cares anyway... But i have to admit, im kind of hard to satisfy
-
So when i play the game for two month all Zeds, want to say infected, are gone due starvation and only survivors with resistance around? Sweet talk or not, i call it a plothole.
-
*cough* You all will rather be perished by the all mighty moskito than by a bear
-
So they dont eat, They should starve but they dont starve. You see my trouble there?^^
-
Yeah but how does the virus work? Ok they no zombies, they just infected. Got that. But do they have to eat? Do they maybe need even more food than humans? What do they eat? Us? Whats happening when they don't eat? Die? So they wouldnt eat flesh laying around but run behind pigs? The whole thing is pretty shady.

Sure we can, i holded it the whole last year to see Dayz become more playable. Kidding, it works. I already tried. Its custom bind is the right mousebutton as same as the zoom. I recommend give it a seperate button. The zeroin thing sounds cool, but its much coding for a little feature
-
Would be cool to have alittle background story about the whole dayz thing. Hard to tell from this point of view how good the zombies are at smelling. But i kind of like the idea to toss humen(or any other) flesh from the rooftop to distract zombies and loot other places safe. Makes me feel like the guy from Walking Dead :P

I vote up for more sway for the reasons mentioned above. Espacialy after running / generating blood presure. While holding breath should be a big advantage at aming.
