Hey Guys, Can you please give me some feedback on my inventory redesign. I feel my version of the inventory makes a ton more sense. Change log: *Uses drop and drag system* *Players can see at all times, what is in their backpack* *Uses the same amount of screen space as the current inventory, however utilises it more efficiently* *Weapons now have a slot for current ammo loaded into the weapon, this also grants the player an additional 3 free slots* *Melee and Flashlight have their own slots so there won't be anymore bugs in regards to equiping the hatchet and having your primary weapon vanish, Also you will no longer have to drop your secondary to equip your flashlight* *Easier to understand system for multi slot objects such as weapons and consumables such as wood piles or vehicle parts. Note the yellow wood pile slots taking up 3 slots* At this stage, it's all just placeholder and not programmed into the game yet. Players are also not restricted to having certain items in certain sections, the segregation simply allows for easier management. *Updates* *Increased transparency based on feedback

Yes it would. I could just import the whole image as a smart object into Illustrator from Photoshop, it's no biggie. Set up my layers and just make it vectorized, thats the last thing I'm worried about. Vector based images can be resized quite easily, and also, that image was demoed on my PC using 1024, 768.

Man, I would love to, my only problem is time. I simply don't have it what with work and all. I'm more than willing to work with anyone who is good in the Arma 2 engine and can get it up and running, I can give them final assets and do all the other dirty work. Share the credits and what not.

Probably my biggest gripe with the current inventory aside from it's bugs is it's lack of space efficiency. The fact that I could fit the actual backpack and it's contents on the same page does my head in.

I'm quite aware of how much work it takes. Luckily I just finished my Degree in Interactive Entertainment and have basically spent my last two-three years studying game development in all aspects of the trade. Including making small games of my own, programming, modelling, animating, working with various engines from UDK to Unity and yes, making a bunch of menus for various games. It would require a fair ton of programming to get this thing working, and I'm not even sure if the tools are available to the DayZ devs to even implement such a redesign, specifically the drop and drag mechanics. I think all thats happened here is you have read what I said in the OP a little too fast and missed some details. Yes the personal inventory is only 12 slots, however you can place any object in your primary and secondary slots. The segregation of the menu into primary secondary and personal inventory is simply to make the menu easier to read, and to help you organise your gear. This system also allows you to put bandages or blood bags or whatever you want, wherever you want. That last part probably should be in the OP, I might update it. Thanks.

Yeah I did, simply because you never interact with it in the menu, simply press B to use it. You could make the same justification for the flashlight as a previous poster commented on, but I just feel with it's ability to be swapped with the military flashlight and likely future updates reducing the players ability to mess around with gamma and brightness settings, it will become a more crucial piece of inventory. I'm happy to change the flashlights position based on feedback though. UPDATE: Apparently there are already servers which restrict these values.

Ok, so if I were to change something, what would if be? With this system, the player would still need to scroll the mouse and equip the light, are you saying you want to have to right click the mouse and then select it, and it should be smaller on the menu? The way I see the light, is that in future updates, the ability to up your gamma and brightness will be removed or heavily reduced, causing players to rely on the light a ton more, so therefore it makes sense to have it presented as a main item. How can Improve what I have done so far?

Yeah, 100% I back Rocket and his team on this, I blame the bad inventory on Arma's design. The mod is just making the most of what it has.

Can someone help me create a new topic? Im trying to post my redesigned Inventory that I just made, and later I hope to somehow code it into the game, it uses a drop and drag system and is a thousand times easier to use. I have made threads before, but now I cannot make threads, there is nothing that tells my why I cant make new threads or when I will be able to. Please help. I also cant seem to find a PM button on any of the moderators names. Also no one responds to the support messages either. -

This thread is just a clear troll. Games regardless or what they are, do not have to have women trannies or orcs for that matter. He made the game, it can be whatever he wants it to be. If I paint something. Lets say I paint a woman, Im not sexist or against a sexuality. Thats my choice. Dumb thread, should have been locked a long time ago. Choice is nice but honestly who cares. I play this game for its mechanics. I couldnt give a rats ass if people are wearing pants or not. OP, get a life you loser. -
Hi, I have some pretty bad issues with this game. My laptop is as follows. i7 @ 2.8ghz 8gb 1333mhz ram 750gb Hdd 50% full Nvidia 540M All my games run 100% fine. BF3 runs High/Ultra Skyrim runs on High SC2 runs on High unless playing 4 player I drop it a bit COD runs almost maxed out. Arma 2/Dayz however is running at a constant 8fps. Sometimes at random my FPS jumps to 23 frames which sounds about right. Bare in mind I tried maxing the graphics out and I get 6fps. Basically its not a GPU issue, 8fps max, 6fps low. Can someone help me?
