What is exactly happening or wrong when fighting zombies?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to cheranuscrusiser's topic in General Discussion
How could coding an entire game engine and rewriting the entire zombie architecture be easier than repairing code that some what works? Then we will have new problems to deal with and the devs will have to either start again or repair the bugs. Once the game gets optimized I'm sure a lot of our issues will disappear. If you find a nice low ping server that restarts regularly then you should experience less bugs. I've read that every hour the server is running the performance of that server goes down, When the performance goes down you experience all kinds of problems. On some servers by the 3rd hour if feels like the server is on it's death bed, Invisible zombies, Legs breaking, Items not getting into your inventory etc -
Did .53 remove sunglasses?!?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to AdamantiuM's topic in General Discussion
Private or public? I haven't come across any sunglasses at all this patch on public. -
A discussion on player mobility

I will still do everything in my power to avoid watching a campfire for 10 minutes, It wouldn't be so bad if food didn't burn so quickly. If I have to take a hostage and force them to cook food for me then that's what I'll do but I will avoid having to stare at food cooking as much as possible. I don't mind gardening since I can start new gardens while the old ones grow but staring at a campfire for fear of my food burning in 30 seconds? Hell no. -
A discussion on player mobility
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to Dagwood's topic in General Discussion
The main reason I scavenge rather than hunt for food is the fact that it takes so long to cook food and if I don't watch it constantly it only takes like 30seconds to ruin what I was cooking. With the introduction of the leather vest I will kill animals to craft it or kill them simply for fun but I still wont cook the animal because I get bored as hell waiting for the meat to change colour while the smoke can attract people to my location, Although decoy fires help it's still a pain in the ass and a huge risk compared to running around and finding cans. -

Finally an optimization that I didn't know about, Have my beans good sir. This seems to work wonders for me as well. The explanation that I googled says that the windows 7 memory allocator is quite good and seems to work better than the custom memory allocators which come with dayz, This launch parameter forces it to use the windows memory allocator. I definitely recommend adding -malloc=system to your launch parameters if you haven't already. -
Véhicules that are returned + Persistence.
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to ProTECK's topic in General Discussion
This has been assigned but everyone should upvote this so they see it as a priority. http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=21145 It is a feature request for having the ability to check if a server is actually persistent so we don't have to rely on server names. -

If you have a nvidia graphics card I have some changes that may or may not improve your performance without making the game look like ass (At least for me). Open Nvidia control panel by either right clicking your desktop and selecting it or go into windows control panel or type it into the windows search. Expand 3D settings if it isn't already. Select Manage 3D settings. Then click on the program settings tab and select dayz as the program. I will make the setting you change bold and a description of whether you skip or do this step in italics. If you have an I7 or some other beefy intel cpu you can probably skip this step. How ever if your CPU is struggling and your dayz freezes up when you reach big towns you may want to change this. Maximum pre-rendered frames - change this to 1,2 or 3 depending on how good your cpu is. 1 is for weaker cpu If you use only one screen you will want to change this from default. Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration - change this to single display performance Even if you have an amazing pc you will want to change this because screw power savings. Power management mode - change this to Prefer maximum performance. If your hard drive isn't completely full you will probably want to turn this on but I haven't honestly tried it turned off. Shader cache - On This is something to individually test as it apparently improves performance, However it can cause shimmering so turn it off if your computer displays walls as shimmering objects. Texture filtering - Anisotropic same optimization - On if it doesn't shimmer, Off if it makes your game look like everything is shiny. This is something to test for yourself as I personally noticed no quality difference. Texture filtering - Quality - High performance. I set this to on and noticed no loss of quality but it apparently improves performance. Texture filtering - Trilnear optimization - On Turn this on because I don't see why you would want it off. Threaded optimization - On I was originally going to only recommend changing power management mode to prefer maximum performance but I decided to say what else I changed from default just incase it helps someone else. If it doesn't help you, You don't need to tell me because I don't care. -
Sooo, how about those brooms?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to emuthreat's topic in General Discussion
If I can craft a cleaning device from a zombie and a broom I will be extremely happy. -
Chainsaws in game? Where. Never seen one!
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to venkman302's topic in General Discussion
I know grenades definitely spawn, I almost blew myself up with one yesterday when I forgot that I had it in my hands and tried to hit a zombie. It is super effective against groups of zombies.... -
Véhicules that are returned + Persistence.
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to ProTECK's topic in General Discussion
After hiding 10 vehicles on a persistent server and finding not a single one was where I left it, Then trying to hide 3 vehicles on a different persistent server I came to the conclusion that either 1) They do respawn after some time limit 2) The servers lie and aren't persistent 3) Persistent vehicles don't work right on public servers -
Which loot tables to believe?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to Kiekos's topic in General Discussion
Probably finding brooms that people traded for axes because I found a few axes at those little sheds. -
I had the same problem trying to skin animals using a steak knife, I wasn't sure if it was the knife or if skinning is bugged. What type of knife were you using? Deer pelt + Garden Lime = Tanned Leather Cow pelt + Garden Lime = Tanned Leather 4x Tanned leather + Leather sewing kit = Leather Vest

Some people had problems opening the game, It kept crashing on launch I believe this patch fixed it for them and I'm not sure what else it did.

I've had so many lying compasses that I refuse to carry them.

When you see smoke and immediately yell "HELL YES I FOUND A HELICOPTER" True story.... -
So I was searching for Heli Crashes, and Found one....
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to darkrider400's topic in General Discussion
Some crash sites still have its normal loot, I found a heli crash and it had a grenade, CMag and I'm not sure what else because that's all I took. -
Why is such a drastic increase in enterable buildings considered a good thing?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to BC_Hawke's topic in General Discussion
Isn't that what he just said? Also you might have more luck finding people in the middle of no where if you play persistent servers since there are tents and soon to be vehicles hidden in the middle of no where so more people run into the middle of no where -

Will there ever be a Fullscreen Windowed Option?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to jonno12321's topic in General Discussion
I didn't have a work around so I just checked config files to see if I could make one for you. Go to the folder Documents -> DayZ then open DayZ.cfg Now you are going to change the following values. Resolution_W=1920; Resolution_H=1080; winW=1920; winH=1080; winDefW=1920; winDefH=1080; Render_W=1920; Render_H=1080; Only change the number values don't delete anything or change the spelling of anything. It wont make it borderless but it means that when you press Alt enter it will change to a window mode that should be the dimensions you said. Also I only gave it a quick test and didn't try anything other than the menu because I'm on starving status so I have to eat before I'm capable of any more thought. -

I have no preference, It all depends what equipment I have and how I feel at the time. -
Why is such a drastic increase in enterable buildings considered a good thing?
Jesus Christ The Goblin replied to BC_Hawke's topic in General Discussion
I Love the fact that people could be literally anywhere and the large number of buildings increase that chance because people have more incentive to spend time looting towns rather than running straight to the same areas over and over again. I love the fact encounters are becoming more random and I have to actually worry that people could be hiding in places that I wont necessarily find them. I was in Novo and it seemed that I was the only person there, I threw a flare at the top of City Hall and within 3 minutes I saw 5 players show up and shoot each other, After executing the sole survivor I had a laugh about how I had no idea there was anyone else in the town. While you see people spreading out and spending time looting towns as bad, I see it as good. It is all a matter of opinion and in my opinion the game is taking a fantastic direction by having so many buildings to search. Yeah I get it you want a middle ground, I don't. -

There's a difference between a house looking boarded up and a house that has an immortal door. There are houses that are locked as there are lock picks in the game which lock doors. Third quarter of the year they will implement barricading, I would love to see players barricading houses rather than a house just having an immortal door because its "real". Perhaps I did explain that in a bit of an extreme way, I already encounter enough players for the game to be fun for me personally but I travel all over the place and I play Dayz much more than the average person. While I encounter a lot of people on the coast I also encounter people inland at random towns, Yes there are more popular places to find people but I still encounter enough players at random places that I don't see an issue for me personally. Also the large number of buildings that you can enter mean that you can incorporate that into your survival strategy, For example if there is someone in a town running around shooting everyone, I could hunt them head on or I could go inside a building, Look out the window and take a shot. My argument is that I love the large number of buildings that I can enter and I believe they should aim for that, It's all a matter of personal opinion. -

I actually like the loot system. If I went to a mil base and came out with everything I could ever want every single time I went there, then there would be no reason for me to look around. I would literally give up hunting for loot and the game would become nothing more than a deathmatch game of which I have hundreds already. I encounter people all over the map when I'm near roads, If I decide to go cross country then it's somewhat rare to see people and that is how I like the game. If it was the real world I would expect to encounter people when I pass through towns but wandering in the middle of a forest? I would expect to see no one or only rarely encounter people. Clearly this is all a matter of opinion but in my opinion the game is on track to where I want it. -

I have plenty of games where I have non stop encounters with other players, I'm glad dayz is more than that. When I play dayz it is about having a survival experience that I enjoy, It isn't about spawning, finding a gun, Then murdering all the fresh spawns standing in the open. I'm glad that there are so many buildings that I can enter, I don't want to be hunted down every single time I'm a fresh spawn. I love that I can hide in a building while some fully geared character runs past, I also love that I could be the fully geared character running by while a fresh spawn cowers in the corner. I peek in windows whenever i run past buildings, I don't simply look for people standing outside. If I get sick of looting every room, I stop looting every room. I love that I might encounter a player but I might not, It means that if I stop paying attention I could get gunned down but I'm always tempted to stop paying attention because I could be in the middle of no where. Do you know what breaks my immersion? Going up to a building and finding that I can't enter it.
