you're alot better off joining a high pop server that has loot being picked up and respawned. as much as i hate it, pick some apples and head as far west as fast as you can. it's the only way you will beat starvation. i think they increased the rate at which you have success picking apple trees in EXP... thats what im currently playing(only about 10 hours since .55, im really poopy faced on dayz right now), and i tend to find apples every other pick... with that being said. i didn't buy a game to pick apples... did you? before you say "find another game" if you say picking apples is fun or necessary you're out of your mind! and CLE is broken. has been broken. and will probably stay broken(i hope not). persistence hasn't worked correctly since it was put on servers, so i will continue to believe that it will never be fixed, until it is actually fixed. -
spent my first 10 mins of life picking apples, ran through 4 towns west. picked more apples. found a childs back pack... tried to pick berries but couldnt find any so gave up. through those 4 towns iv found that back pack. a hack saw. a canteen. a wool coat. and charcoal tabs. iv made it to gorka, did a south west loop from berinzino south back north west to gorka... is loot spawning any better in the west?

there is a military base in the north above severograd that has a underground abandoned "bomb shelter" (not sure what to call it) it is around the base. but i do agree with someone else that said the game can't support underground structures. it does not spawn anything however.

I honestly was a hard advocate of them randomizing the loot spawns because it most certainly will and DID make server hopping a nogo. i like random loot in random locations, however they also need to have locations that bottle neck player interactions.. something like a automated market, specific spawn locations for high value loot items, or something. before .55 i never even entertained the idea of having a farm, picking up seeds, or even sniffing at a hoe/pickaxe. honestly It's good that they forced me to use these items. i want the game to be challenging where you should need to use aspects of it to survive... however, running around for 4 days finding nothing, choppers not working, and tents not working, is no bueno. once they fix the choppers, make sure the tents stay, and make certain locations spawn specific loot, and the other locations random with a chance of spawning a high value loot item as well.. that will be the day.

yea i tend to only play with other guys i know. i find it very boring to be running around looting alone. oh, and its much safer.

they can't ban your account for duping gear either, because you're exploiting the game, not using external cheats. i don't like playing in the dark because its annoying more than anything... so i don't. nor do i fault users for using the gamma to see. I'd be willing to bet that 80% of players use the gamma exploit if they play in night servers.

its not DEAN that has investment into the game anymore. its HICKS. pointing out facts is all, when did i mention i had no faith? was it because i said persistence is broken? it is. again facts. -
you're right because .55 wasn't the problem. persistence is. it was broken with "new spawn points", and its still broken with "old spawn points" . go into a server and check either vybor or the firestations at NWAF, or the military tents. guarantee there will be massive amounts of loot because its only spawning in small areas. the only change is that now food houses are actually spawning food. forcing persistence when it isn't ready is the main issue.

dean could care less. he sold it for money and has now moved on. pretty sure he said on twitter he would ban anyone else that mentioned dayz on his feed. he did in fact say that. -

I dont know the percentage, but there is a chance it will still explode. honestly i think its 70/30 (explode/dearm) 3/4 mines iv tried have blown up... the condition of them might have a factor in it as well. best advice would be to stay away if you think its set. iv also had them blow up with me activating them.. ha .. but that's kinda rare. bear traps are the same, yet iv had alot more success de-arming them.

I think the main problem is that people really enjoy playing dayz. So much that they get upset when they are not able to enjoy it. heck, I cant say there is another title on the market that i have enjoyed more and its only an alpha. I think its understood that there will be 2 steps forward and 3 steps backwards... but you cant sit there and defend the persistence system like there is nothing wrong with it, its been broken for forever, way before .55 ... for two weeks you'll say "there's loot i don't know what you're talking about" then just a few days ago finally come out and say " oh right, its broken ". honestly you can create as many bugs as you fix as long as there is transparency. Don't use the CYOA technique it just pisses people off. iv preached for a totally random loot spawn for ages... but there also has to be locations where it will bottle neck player interaction. you're doing a good job and anyone can see progress from .53 to .55 the reason why i hated .55 was choppers are still broken beyond belief, and tents wouldn't survive server restarts. In my opinion I'v server hopped way less since .55 and think the new persistence is a great work in progress. the only draw back is that it is going to take someone 3-7 days to find the same items they previously would have found in 3-7 hours. maybe eventually there will be AI trading posts that will allow you to trade some goods for others? that would be cool, and would kinda fix the problem of having to search the entire map over the course of 3 days looking for the one item you need.
