people are going to play games they enjoy... dayz was not enjoyable, so they went to other games. lets take a bet, i bet the play base does not drop to the 6k like it was during .55 .... guess we will be watching. and it wasn't a slow drop over 2 months. it was a rocket ship implosion down to 6k. btw... look at this link, you're saying other games didn't come out to draw players away from dayz during other months? logic. bad game = loss of 60% of your player base in 2 months. http://games.on.net/2015/06/dayz-player-base-more-than-halves/

I was probably a little too harsh, but stand by my comment. while i agree loot needs moving around so it doesn't spawn 11 items in the same house, too much loot is better than no loot which was seen in .55 persistence. dayz was down to 6k or lower player base during those times... now its in the 20k's... do you see a correlation there? very few members want to play a game where loot is few and far between, and you starve 6/7 times. I'm adding that the OP's desired view of dayz is few and far between, if you don't like finding loot, stay away from towns and play in the wood where the loot doesn't exist. exactly what i said in my first post... another .55 update will see 2/3 of the player base jumping off again. there is a fine line between too much loot and not enough. changing the spawn points around the entire map would probably elevate the problem of items hardly spawning on the coast, since items spawn in locations no frequently picked up. right now the program reads it as there is a shit load of pickups on the coast, but none in the west/north, causing few items to spawn on the coast.

Everyone plays the game the way they want, so...

i killed 2/3 at the balota airfield last night when i could have combat logged as they were pinching me in( one from the top 2 from the bottom ) yet i chose to stay and fight. without a gun i wouldn't really call that combat logging. -
seems like there are very few of you that want to run half way across the map and find nothing... i suggest staying in the woods and having a good time where loot doesn't exist...

jumping out of a humvee with full battle rattle has blown out people's disks in their backs. a humvee is what, 2 feet off the ground. strange things occur to the human body when you hit a hard surface with weight on.

do any of you play experimental? from spawn to dieing of dehydration/hunger is 4mins. this is whats coming to stable. good luck. unless you love picking apples. and fyi... i picked apples until i was energized and hydrated... ran from kamiwobo to MSTA.... died picking apples. fun, 10/10

quick answer. yes. extended answer. right now the game is basically based on finding loot. when you take away loot people get relatively bored dieing and re-spawning. until they fix persistence, which i hope is .57 I won't be playing... alot of people feel the same way. buggy zombies i can deal with, randomly walking into a house and descending into the map and dieing i can deal with. getting killed by hackers i can deal with. having 15fps in cities i can deal with... having my tents despawn and the choppers being royally jacked up.... i can deal with. spawning on the coast and starving 4/5 times before i want to waste 20mins if not longer picking berries and apples just to make it inland.. well yea, not worth the time playing, because, wait for it, its annoying... its not a challenge to survive... it's a complete and utter waste of time. random loot is great, no loot in cites but 2 million items spawning at vybor military base... not so great. (waiting on the you're not playing the game right comments)

any reason why its written backwards?

I find it funny that the same 5% always sit and defend the gross errors being made in the development of the game. I honestly think this is the best game iv ever played. Ever. But. AND there is a big but. serious overhaul needs to be put into fixing persistence. It's been broken since it's inception. Honestly I just want loot to spawn. Keep it rare, but for the love of god spawn. Dayz still has plenty of promise, and I still have faith (at least a little) that it will eventually be ironed out. This is a game that has the potential to draw huge crowds and even be thriving 10 years after its official release. The devs just need to come through.

yea 14 lbs would be a beast to hold up after all that. i would bet the mosin would still have more sway than the m4 though due to its length, which will cause more fatigue while holding. the workout i posted above is actually very challenging when trying to hit a moving target, heck, even a still target, you should try it some time... if you're into that kind of fun... owning a mosin and m14 you better be! (I have a ar15 and 45/70 marlin brush gun.)

10 pushups and some cardio. come on. ruck at a 12 min pace for 4 miles. (45lbs + water) then do 3 sets of max pushups (muscle failure) (your 20secs of rest inbetween sets is flutter kicks.) then 30 burpies (without stopping.) then sprint 100 meters and aim at a moving target. no rest in between. get back to me on what kind of off hand sway you have, I've done whats listed above. also, an m4 also weights right around 8lbs with an optic and 30 round mag, though, not as long.

The Great CLE Loot Experiment (Starving Players)
twr replied to CrashBoomK's topic in General Discussion
you're alot better off joining a high pop server that has loot being picked up and respawned. as much as i hate it, pick some apples and head as far west as fast as you can. it's the only way you will beat starvation. i think they increased the rate at which you have success picking apple trees in EXP... thats what im currently playing(only about 10 hours since .55, im really poopy faced on dayz right now), and i tend to find apples every other pick... with that being said. i didn't buy a game to pick apples... did you? before you say "find another game" if you say picking apples is fun or necessary you're out of your mind! and CLE is broken. has been broken. and will probably stay broken(i hope not). persistence hasn't worked correctly since it was put on servers, so i will continue to believe that it will never be fixed, until it is actually fixed. -
there is a military base in the north above severograd that has a underground abandoned "bomb shelter" (not sure what to call it) it is around the base. but i do agree with someone else that said the game can't support underground structures. it does not spawn anything however.

MOST ANTICIPATED FEATURE!?!?!?! THE CENTRAL LOOT ECONOMY ACTUALLY WORKING! just saying. -
HAPPENS WITH MINES AND BEAR TRAPS. ENJOY!

I honestly was a hard advocate of them randomizing the loot spawns because it most certainly will and DID make server hopping a nogo. i like random loot in random locations, however they also need to have locations that bottle neck player interactions.. something like a automated market, specific spawn locations for high value loot items, or something. before .55 i never even entertained the idea of having a farm, picking up seeds, or even sniffing at a hoe/pickaxe. honestly It's good that they forced me to use these items. i want the game to be challenging where you should need to use aspects of it to survive... however, running around for 4 days finding nothing, choppers not working, and tents not working, is no bueno. once they fix the choppers, make sure the tents stay, and make certain locations spawn specific loot, and the other locations random with a chance of spawning a high value loot item as well.. that will be the day.
-
yea i tend to only play with other guys i know. i find it very boring to be running around looting alone. oh, and its much safer.
-
they can't ban your account for duping gear either, because you're exploiting the game, not using external cheats. i don't like playing in the dark because its annoying more than anything... so i don't. nor do i fault users for using the gamma to see. I'd be willing to bet that 80% of players use the gamma exploit if they play in night servers.

long gone nowwwww. took the bait went looking. nothing there
