Last year, I was very happy, because the DayZ Standalone (Alpha) was finally released. I didn´t play the Mod, but I was already a fan, watching videos of it and sometimes trying it when I visited a mate. Many bought this game, like me, right at release. And I´m sure a lot of them don´t play this game any more. It was not - and still is not - as good as the Mod, there is still a lot missing, but it is only the Alpha and I´m happy they made it an early access game. At first, I was really disappointed. There were no patches to bring new items and when there was one, it brought or fixed things that were not very important for me as a player at that moment of the development of DayZ, but I´m sure the programmers had good reasons for doing that. Well, as development went into the wrong direction, DayZ became worse and in the summer, I finally stopped playing it, because the way they made the zombies was completely unplayable for me and my friends. After 2 or 3 months, I thought, I could try DayZ again. There were some patches in that period of time, but I just downloaded them and didn´t care. I was surprised: the zombies were not that annoying any more, bugs were fixed and reading the weekly reports, development went now into the right direction. Now I have over 200 hours of DayZ experience (which is very much for me) and I can´t get enough of finding and exploring what the developer added. Now I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all developers, designers, programmers and whoever also works on DayZ or has to do with it. You made a great job in the last few months and I hope you will make this game better than the mod next year. Enjoy your holidays!
