How to bring RP and PVP in DayZ together - Trade Center

The lower area of Fort Eden Trade Center. It is only 1/5 of the base... To get to this bottom portion of the Fort Eden Trade Center, an attacking group would have to have broken through four locked gates, a zombie infested moat, and passed through the =UN= Headquarters (Base). At our trade center, we have two archways used to enter the base. Each of them will have two lockable gates on each end of the archway with security forces when people are logged on. We may even devise an area within that we can lock up a horde of zombies as a moat type defense. Between the first archway gates and the second will be the beginning of the =UN= Clan Headquarters / base within our trader, so there is likely to be people in and around most of the day to help keep an eye on things. If someone can get past the main archway gates, security forces in the =UN= base area, and moat of zombies, they still have to breach one more set of gates at the second archway to enter the Trade Center. I think that's about the best we can do. I suspect that most successful attacks will come when server population is down in the middle of the night. When that happens we simply rebuild and get the place up and running again. Maybe set up a system when we know we have something going on where we can provide a surprise welcoming for them from time to time. We are also going to create areas outside the Castle that have quality overwatch positions on the key spots used to launch attacks against our Trade Base so we can take them out from better fortified locations. It's a massive undertaking but we have many members that love the idea of playing DayZ from a base rather than running around the map all the time. Especially our RP population. -

I watched Axel's video of the Prison Island base and it looked great. They were using similar tent blockades to block entry (about all you can do right now to secure anything). We actually considered the exact same area for our large Trade Base, but between the swim and the lack of water to farm, drink, etc, we chose our current location. It is surrounded by the heart of the heli spawns, has creeks all around it, and of course all of the western and northern spawn areas like NWAF, Myshkino Tents, Zeleno, etc. I love the work Axel has put into the base building concepts. The Prison Island base is fantastic. As for base size, it's about 70% of what Fort Eden is size / tents wise, but again, I see why you thought it might be larger. It's also a huge base. My favorite part of the design is the first entry block at the archway entrance. It gives the hard spot needed before any serious threats can easily take the building and then shoot down. I also think it would be really easy to defend that narrow archway walk since its so tight. High marks on that. I also thought blocking the gate with the line of tents was another likewise brilliant move, and liked the narrow gap entry at the corner. I suppose even that could be blocked off too for the off hours when you play if you wanted to do it. Our Admins have leaned towards having one rule related to base building that would exclude using Prison Island. We thought it might be best on our server to not allow any military loot spawns to be blocked off by any groups, since that would effect the loot cycle for the entire community. Large groups for example could block off key loot areas in Tisy, NWAF, etc and that would make it really tough on solo players and small groups, which we have a ton of playing with us. On a friendly RP focus server, that wouldn't be as much of a concern, but we are Hardcore PVP, RP Encouraged, so obviously that will effect our perspective on bases. Anyhow - Love the base and really respect Axel's amazing video's on base building. -

That's a shame that folks engage in that type behavior. On the same hand, I love that people want to attack the base too, and it brings a ton of people to the server. I think in game base building, along with explosives and such it will be a more realistic experience all around. I'll take a look at Barely's vid's to see whats all there. Down the road if you see any cool base ideas please do share them. We really want to help people develop bases in the community! -

Post some pictures or video I'd love to see the layouts at those locations. We've actually had groups asking about good base configurations there. As for Fort Eden, nobody ever breached it's walls (.62) without glitching through tents in the middle of the night. If glitching through tents when you are asked not to do it is a success then they were really successful. Thankfully now we will have walls and gates and not have to deal with "successful' attacks like those you mentioned. This topic has been an amazing discussion looking over the progress of all the old posts up to here. I'd love to see some of the things they are doing with their bases if you have any pics or videos of them. It's difficult to put together quality bases of this size and we always have groups looking for ideas. We've also had multiple streamers on our server and they have all commented on how the Fort Eden Trade Center is the largest collection of loot, and largest base they have seen in DayZ. One of them even named his video based on that opinion. I've played on all the servers (over 4,400 hours in DayZ) and haven't seen anything close. As I mentioned earlier though, the .63 launch is going to be a whole different level of awesome. -

We do offer RP (Encouraged) but we are a Hardcore PVP Server. No pvp rules of engagement. The Trade Base is our attempt to reach out to the RP Community and offer them a play environment that will allow them to play in an Apocalyptic setting within the security of a secured trade center. Base Building is going to be highly encouraged, especially with our larger server based clans. -

As long as the Devs and BI employees are playing on a server (or managing) it had better be running strong. (Not meaning that in a pissy way, its just a fact). It's a distinct advantage gaining a population when that occurs. .62 Fort Eden had 55 Tents and a dozen or so barrels for leather makers, cloth dyes, etc. The .63 version of Fort Eden will triple in size since now Lopatino Castle will be completely enclosed. There will be two gates at each archway and the two walls that have breaches will be repaired providing all sorts of RPers a wide variety of options under the protection of Fort Eden. The base can be used for Farming, hunting launch point, and the =UN= Clan headquarters. On a busy day, Fort Eden might have 30-40 traders visit, on a slower day about a dozen stop by. The base is also under attack often making it not only the RP hub on our map, but also more pvp than even Tisy or NWAF. It's a busy place on our server. Here is a look at the lower area of the Trade Base, there were additional areas even on .62 in the ruins and top area of grass by the tower and out front by the front arches, but .63 is going to offer amazing growth to the whole experience at Fort Eden. The Cannibals Clan is led by the "Cannibal King" and "Cannibal Queen" and is one of our larger RP & PVP groups. They have a large base somewhere along the Southern Coast and prey on all players that roam in their area, including Bambies. Be careful as they do play with their food. =UN= Brief concerning the Cannibals and the Cannibal King Clan type: Chase. Hunt. Kill. Eat. What we know about the Cannibal Clan: The Cannibals are nomadic and could turn up anywhere on the map, but seem to prefer preying on survivors in the North in large cities or on the coastal regions. They will not only use bladed weapons, but also sticks, spears, and all gun types. The Cannibals will also use deceit as a primary weapon, pretending to befriend survivors until a vulnerable moment presents itself. They ultimately do not care if the =UN= is in power, so long and they are left alone to feed. They have some structure within their own community, but it is completely a mystery as to what that structure is or what their goals are beyond feeding. The first documented Cannibal was a survivor known as the Cannibal King. He was originally imprisoned on Prison Island and held there after being captured by Security Forces for cannibalistic activities after the Apocalypse started. Zombie attacks on the island eventually wiped out the guard population, and somehow the Cannibal King escaped his cell amid the chaos. Rather than freeing all of his cellmates, He selected the Alpha's in the group and they lived on the island for the better part of a year eating the rest of the prison population. Eventually, the Cannibals left the island when their food ran out and began preying on inland survivors. Analysis: The Cannibals have transformed into an almost zombie like humanoid themselves and seem to be focused on gathering members and feeding. The Cannibals will be heard giggling and crying when they are close to a feeding frenzy. Analysis: It is believed that while cunning and deceptive, the cannibals eventually can't contain their excitement to feed. Science has revealed that they do in fact have a brain disorder that has been caused by their diet of human flesh and other raw meats. It is possible the Cannibals actually have a facility where Survivors are locked up and kept there for meals during times the group goes into hiding. Analysis: Studies reveal the clan is Cultist in nature and may go into hiding during periods of rituals and other dark ceremonies. Human sacrifice is a possibility and cannibalism is 100% certainty. The Cannibals do have a recruiting process, but it is entirely random and unknown why they eat so many and then spare others and bring them into the Cannibal fold. Analysis: It could be an article of clothing, mannerism, speech, or other trigger that hold the Cannibals off from feeding when they recruit members into their fold. Reports indicate that the cannibals are growing at an alarming rate. The =UN= has an ongoing investigation on reports that the Cannibal clan is much more sophisticated than originally documented. Reports of weapons caches, organized bases, and group alliance with other Clans are now deemed as possible scenarios. Cannibals recently have been observed attacking vehicles and other travelling groups. The Cannibals hunt primarily on the coast between Svetlo and Cherno and will go out solo, in small groups, or in a large horde. The Cannibals may pretend to be Zombies, or Bambi's that try to befriend you before waiting for that vulnerable moment to kill and eat you. Intel has revealed that there is also a "Cannibal Queen." -

The =UN= Community server has many groups and clans for players looking for groups. BTW - our =UN= Community official Clans are: The =UN= Clan, the Red Berets (Anti =UN= Clan which is pvp based bandits) and Cannibals Clan(RP & PVP) all are recruiting. The server has many (about 20) other smaller private clans or groups also playing on it =UN= INTEL on the Red Berets: This Clan is a =UN= created Clan and they are a military group that opposes all things =UN= with the ultimate goal of taking over whatever is left in the Apocolypse and ruling as a Dictatorship! Red berets have military leaders (Lt. Turely) working with whomever will be named "Dictator" running the clan. Red Berets hate all things =UN= Clan, and are known to kill all players outside their group on sight (KOS style gameplay). This group plays all over the map, but maintains a presence near the Sobors (possible base location) Currently recruiting soldiers. The group prefers KOS type players and looks to kill and steal from survivors of the Apocalypse. If you just HATE the =UN=, this may be the clan for you! Contact Irish for details... The Dev's are allowing us to carry the experimental patch until .63 goes stable. BTW - Base building will be in the patch immediately when it's released! With DayZ mods right around the corner, I thought I'd take this down time making an effort to get some ideas you might have in regards to DayZ mini game scenarios. On our server, we not only have open world PVP, we also host Mini Events for both Clans and solo players to participate in with a variety of themes. Most the time the game missions pit all of the clans and solo players against each other or working together if they choose to participate in the event. Some examples of what I mean are: - We have had Prisoner escorts across the map where the objective is to free the prisoner from a Clan escorting him in the open world before he safely reaches a destination far away. - Protect the cargo Barrel's on the ship at Rify that hold high grade weapons, ammo, and magazines from rival Clans that are seeking to take control of the cargo ship and steal your reward. Missions like this start with a 15 minute notice via server wide message so Clans can move to Rify if they choose to particpate, then after 15 minutes the mission lasts an hour. - Hostage situations in a building like Novo or Cherno Tower where the objective is to free the hostage and get him to safety against a hostile Clan (and those other Clans trying to beat you to it). Missions like this also may be the perfect situation to use stats, which on our server are kept every day that we have Missions and the player with top kills receives a reward at the end of the event. - A cult clan group has stolen nuke codes from the military base and plans to launch the nukes from the safety of the base in an effort to wipe out all of the zombies and rival clans on the map. Their goal is to destroy all life outside of their clan and repopulate later. The Mission is for all Clans to attack at the base location (given in server announcement) and seize the Nuke Codes before the bomb goes off - Which means the server resets (We have considered locking the server on this "SUPER MISSION" after players acknowledge participating in the mission, and if there is a Nuke reset all players on the server outside of the group that set off the bomb die. Groups would have two hours to seize the nuke codes before launch. This type of Mission requires all players on the server to participate, whereas others do not hold any requirement. - Having a Clan escort a Scientist that may have discovered a cure to the virus from Tisy to Green Mountain or another location and protect his anti virus in a carry case, etc. If the Scientist is captured he may be taken to a given location and interogated and his cure traded for reward barrels. - One of our newest ideas for Event Nights is a Clan or Solo player Bounty Mission Scenario whereby the server population is notified AFTER they log in who the Bounty group or player is (the target). Little by little the Server messages will give hints and clues as to the discriptions and nearby locations of the Bounty targets. If a Bounty Clan or solo player can stay alive for 1 hour the Bounty is lifted and placed on another player or clan. We may even extend the event where surviving bounty players or clans get to name the next bounty group as a reward for surviving! Or how about when Base Building and mods come into DayZ. Here are some scenarios that could really add to the "missions" that revolve around Bases. Could you imagine some in game scenarios like the following missions to change the pace of "Open World" PVP that DayZ is currently built around: - In game mission to use your base to hold off a "herd" of a few hundred Zombies, or even Zombies and other Clans that are coming to not only test your PVP skills, base building decisions, but also to capture a barrel reward with some of the games best weapons and ammo. If you hold off the herd and attacking clans for a certain time length, the barrel is yours, if not, then whatever clan can breach first and capture the barrel gets the reward. The best weapons are always great bait for PVP Clans to come hunting for you! But maybe your group will not only kill them and take their loot, but you can also win the reward loot! - Or, an in game mission to defend your base where you have captured a high ranking government official who was responsible for the virus destroying the world, and rival clans want to breach your base and capture the hostage. If a clan can captures him and get him to their base and hold him for a certain time limit, they win the event. If you hold him at your base, or recapture him for said time then you win the event. Who knows what type of reward a difficult mission like this has to offer. Maybe a map to the Heli locations in game at a certain time? - or, an in game annoucement regarding a Heli Crash somewhere in gerneral on the map. The mission requires you or your clan to reach a given Heli Crash where a Rival Clan Prisoner has survived a Heli crash while he was being transported from Novo to Prison Island. You have to fight off both zombies and other Clans also trying to capture him and return him to your base in order to interogate him/her and win classified information about a hidden cache of weapons, food, and ammo. At that point, the clan has a time limit to reach the cache destination and carry all you can until the time limit concludes (while other clans are aggressively looking for you on the map). Note: You will have to fight through Zombies to reach him (they may kill him if you take too long) and you will have to fight through Zombies to breach the cache. Keep in mind other clans want to also drink your milkshake! - Or, someone in your clan has brought in a barrel full of meat, lime, and seeds (and some large water storage) that seems to be attracting an unusual amount of Zombies wanting to get to it. They seem fully aware of where it is in your base and are gathering in large numbers trying to breach your base and consume it. If you defend the food successfully, its all yours, or if you defend a portion of it you keep whatever you can defend from the Zombie Army. You better have a well planned Zombie defense! Ok - So as I said, I think the mods in particular will offer some amazing pvp and in game opportunities. These are just a few ideas off the top of my head. I know my server population is planning on being a leader in the mod community and we will hit the ground running when they become available. With a base group of 25ish small to medium clans you can imagine how much fun this could be and what types of DayZ opportunites we can create. We are interested in hearing any "mission; ideas you might have for groups, clans, or solo players. If you have any thoughts on fun pvp based scenarios we'd love to hear your ideas about where on the map you envision the scenarios and what the goals for the activity should be. If you take the time to share them here, we can make an effort to put the idea into action if it sounds like something that could enhance the PVP and player interaction during our DayZ gameplay. We are also interested in specific Clan PVP Tourney's that you may have in mind. Again, share the location and objectives. Thanks for the comments. I love this thread as well. As for NPC's with mods we plan on using NPC Guards at our Trade Center if our population drops too low during early AM in the USA. Hopefully we'll have a solid population from Europe as we are making some moves to make that happen. NPC's will definitely be a part of many of the solo and in group missions we are going to create using mods. Some were listed here previously and on the Base building thread. There are some really big possibilities for Base building missions such as "survive the large Zombie horde" at your base, etc. -

On the =UN= Community server, our first Mod related to Base building will be completing the walls at Lopatino Castle. After we use wall mods to patch the holes, we will put up two gates that can be opened / closed and locked at each archway to create an air lock system. We very excited that this is the year the game goes Beta. -

Fort Eden is about to change DayZ forever! A huge collection of loot has been gathered at Fort Eden Trade Center. The front Archway gate is coming down. The PVP within will be the bases only defense between the hours of 9pm est to Midnight est for anyone that dares come for its treasure! Starting Thursday Night - 9pm est to Midnight - A new loot area has opened on the map if you have the skills to survive it.
