It doesn't seem to have reset in the last 20 hours. The trucks that were wrecked per my earlier story (about 20 hours ago) are still there. I thought wrecked trucks despawned on resets.

I actually saw a deer family running across the road S of the northern Elektro firestation yesterday. Never seen wildlife in that town before.

Wow! My only experience was with the Universal M12 on my sailboat. Once my choke switch wasn't working; I just shut it off by holding one of my Type IVs (that doubled as back cushions) over the intake. Then again, that engine was only a little bitty 10hp.
-
It does make sense. The glow plug on a diesel isn't needed once the engine is running. But, it's still odd.

So, heading back to my camp on SC02 (it is, was?, at 024 072). I've got a new truck full of goodies - including a jerry can! I have 3 trucks there, as well as 3 barrels and a fireplace with a pot and tripod - nice little starter home. As I'm coming back around Pushto, I see a guy running in the road. I roll up behind him. He keeps running*. How odd that he's got his sound off. I roll behind him for about 40-50m. He stops to read the sign telling him the way to Myshinko. At that point, being the friendly guy I am, I just accelerate past him. Bet I scared the crap out of him! Through Myshinko, back to my base. WAIT!!! I see a truck driving off. I drive over to see if it's mine - he's driving to a flipped truck by the road.** He gets out! I was gonna say "hello", but he jumps back in the truck and takes off. I spin around to see where he went and flip my truck on the same hill!!! Damn!!! I jump out, grab my battery and plug - but wait, here comes the driver. He's trying to run me over. Son of a...,. I step around my truck to provide cover, pop out and put some AUG rounds through his windshield. He slumps over and slides to a halt. I step up to his truck, hit inventory, take the plug, but can't seem to get the battery out while the trucks running. I put my gun on my back and try to drag it into my hands. No luck. I open the door to see if I can hide his corpse (no)*** or get in to turn it off , no luck with his body there. At that point he WAKES UP!! Slams it in gear and takes off (even though his plug is in my pocket), damaging my pants and ruining my boots in the process. Well, I run over to the original truck and . . . hey! . . . this looks like the stuff from my camp (Yes, at a minimum, I should have expected the same at **, but I missed my coffee this morning, piss off!!)! I run back to my camp (it's dark by now). I can make out that only 1 truck is in place. I hide in the trees and wait. 10 minutes go by. Nothing. Ok, guess he's off licking his wounds somewhere. I survey the damage and see he missed the 2 barrels sitting in the open as decoys (even had one stuffed with maxed out AKMs) but has found my "survival barrel" hidden in the trees (maxed Mosin, ammo, Magnum, ammo, food, boots, knife, vest, compass, matches, etc.). Well, since that's the only one he saw, I decide to empty it, move it, and the move the other gear and 2 barrels as well. Figure I don't have to go far. He'll come back, see the barrel gone and know I beat him to it. I make 2 improvised backpacks to hide in the trees and start filling them with loot. I move a barrel - start filling it. Just about to get on the second barrel when *POP* "You are dead" :D Sounded like a damn .22. * I suspect now: these 2 were clan mates (as there were a few on the server); and he couldn't hear my truck as he was talking on TS. Who plays with a clan on EXP? There were 4 clan members and 3 other players on the whole server. No way to know, but makes sense. Should have just run him over. Totally forgot about him after the excitement with the guy in the truck. *** Yes, I know I should have double-tapped, but I was so focused on grabbing the battery! Should have realized he was alive when I had no option to hide his corpse. Further, Can't believe you can take a plug out of a truck while it's running but not the battery.

Odd item clean-up, I think. SC02 - never more than 5 folks on it this morning. Was at Myshinko base in my truck. Was loading it with goodies (scored a scoped, drummed, AKM and a scoped AK74 - plenty of spare mags for each). To make room, I dropped my AUG, jerry can, 2 boxes of shotgun shells, 2 flares, 30 rd AKM mag, and an AK handgrip (still bugged). Went back to base camp, then found a helicrash with a 60-round STANAG. So, headed back to Myshinko to grab the AUG. Everything but the AUG was gone. It had been about 1 hour of real life time - what's that in game time, 12 hours? Someone could have taken, but why take 2 flares and a useless grip? Could those items have despawned that quickly?

No character wipe, but a persistence reset for trucks/tents. At least I had one of my batteries and glowplugs on me!
-
The good news is that I did everything possible around the house today. So tomorrow? It's DayZ time.
-
Back in one of the previous builds when food was really scarce, I chopped down all the apples trees in Svet before I left. :D
-
Serious beer runners do 1PP only. ;-)

You should get a pick and make a stone furnace to cook those in.

At least you didn't stain all the floor in front of the grill in a way that you can't walk to it for another hour. So, now I'm hungry, have nothing productive left to do, and, obviously, have no EXP to play. I guess I could start a novel. Or maybe just eat all the ice cream in the freezer. One of those. Probably.
-
Holy crap, I'm productive with no EXP. Since it went off lien about 5 (?) hours ago, I have: taken the dogs on a 2 mile walk; cleaned the pool; gone to the gym; trimmed all the Rose of Sharon along the back fence (and bundled and disposed of the trimmings); stained the floor of the outside kitchen; and watered all the plants. I'm gonna have to think up a story about how all this happened before the wife gets home - if not, she'll figure out how much time I really waste in a day!
-
-
Damn. Still down? Pool's clean. Guess I gotta go hit the racks. >:(
-
Me, too. Since it's still down, I guess I'll clean the pool then go to the gym. Has my wife been in touch with the Devs?
-
Several. Red sheds for sure. I think graffiti sheds. Also, feel certain small houses.
-
I'm too lazy to opt out of EXP. Guess I'll go for a walk. That should take care of about 30 minutes. :D
-
Was just about to give 3PP a try. No servers. Perhaps an update is on the way?
-
I may have to play 3PP for a while. When 80%+ of loot spots are empty, and no one's on the server, this is just a whip! :D
-
Persistence is working on my tent and trucks since the new update. But, yesterday morning, I stashed a military tent in a location very unlikely to be stumbled upon (although, in the woods NE of Svet) and a car tent in an out of the way place (N of Turovo); and, when I went to collect them this morning - gone. Considering they were on SC02 (1PP isn't typically high pop) it seems more likely that they despawned.
-
It just seems to take a long time. Make sure not to stuff yourself on low calorie items of course. I fell off some stairs - a whole 4 feet, so I ruined my boots, broke my leg, etc. - luckily had a truck full of food. Gorged on peaches and beans and bacon. I bet it took me around 30 minutes of staying stuffed and light green energized hydrated before I even got the "healing" signal.

I wonder if player numbers affect loot density and respawning. Been playing on SC02 - normally less than 5 people on it. And it's a wasteland. This morning, started in the NW, looted all of Lopatino (6 items total in town), Vavilovo (much better, but still light - around 45 total items - mostly tools, hard hats and food), a good chunk of Svet (80%+ empty), 50% of Novo (same as Svet). Last night, did the Sabors down through Msta and Elektro - same thing - virtually nothing. The only place I have found any decent loot density was at the Myshinko base. Either the total number is set too low, or there's the mother of all lootsplosions out there. Also, anyone ever get the bug where you have to open doors twice? Can't figure out how to reproduce it, but logging always fixes it.
-
They don't respawn? How did you discover this?

Note to self: Look for BCBasher on server. ;-)
