    DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

    As others have mentioned, a fully urban map would be very interesting. The "cities" in DayZ barely rise to the level of tiny villages. But, I'd think something really defined by it's geography, like Seattle, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Singapore, Stockholm or, if you don't want to go that large (as that seems like it would be a ton of work) Cadiz. Just something that gives it some natural boundaries and divisions.

    That's largely why I play EXP. Once they roll a new stable, I get on, get geared up, kill a few mooks, and am bored. So, as soon as there's a new EXP, I come over here - love getting wiped - gives me a new task.

    Also, you should really be able to TAB up your hotbar while driving. No compass while driving with the blinders you have in 1PP is a bit ridiculous. Says a man trying to move his 7 trucks through the woods in the dark.

    Well, someone did find my camp his time. Despite my note saying that people could take whatever they wanted, only asking that they leave a note telling me when they were there, someone took whatever they wanted (?), left no note, and dumped everything on the ground. But left all the trucks. Some was still there when I showed up - less than a single truck full. Some men just want to watch the world burn. ;-) ETA: they did make off with the 6 truck batteries that weren't on me (or just dumped them and they despawned - savages).

    That's what I thought. Of course, in 1PP, I have to drive a bit slower. Such a screwed up non-view you have when driving.

    Just happened to me again. Backpacks on the ground (some full, some not), barrels (some full, some not), and fireplace (with tripod and pot full of delicious venison) all vanished sometime in the last few hours on SC02. I've been checking it several times a day and manipulating items in the containers (to see if that made a difference). The six trucks are still in place with all their cargo - no one came by and stole a barrel with a RAK, a talon with a 1911, and a fireplace, and left a scoped winchester or an MP5 (much less a battery and glowplug) that were in the trucks. Wish they'd figure out what the heck is going on with persistence. I still wonder if it is an issue with total item number. Gonna set up an alternate smaller camp and see what happens. On the other hand, drove all around the map for about 4 hours today. Dynamic events (police cars and helicrahes) seem to be working great. Drive by an empty field, nada; come back 2 hours later, helicrash. See 2 police cars in Stary; come back an hour later, both gone. Very neat. Further, discovered today that you can repair burlap sacks with a sewing kit. Don't know why you would. But you can. Finally, didn't trucks used to go faster? Now they're maxed at 62.

    I'm still showing 2 in the US, one in Germany, and 1 in Singapore. Did you try increasing the ping max in your filter?

    Hmm. So much for that theory. If it was a single tent though, it may have just been stolen. It wasn't me who mentioned the melee weapon "bug" - as soon as I find a tent, I'll have to test that.

    I'm wondering if it's some sort of cap on items in a certain area - something to prevent lootsplosions. I have never had a small camp vanish. But, when I got a huge camp, and packed it to the gills, everything that wasn't in the trucks vanished.

    It didn't. My camp is still there. Barrels, backpacks and trucks. But, I have had a whole camp wiped before. Something janky with persistence.

    Finally: Where were you all my life? Trying to figure out what to drop to take this 4th battery. Already dropped a 30rd, pristine scope MP5 for the 3rd. This is what DayZ has become. :D

    On the persistence front, SC02: While my earlier tents, barrels and packs despawned, I have now had a barrel in place for 2 days (with its cargo intact). Further, have had several packs on the ground for two days. My trucks, and their gear has generally remained in place for 5 days now. Oddly, though, it seems that some of the stuff in the trucks has become invisible - you can't take it out, the space looks empty, but you can't add anything to it. Happened with both an UMP and a jerry can. Adding and removing stuff to the truck doesn't fix it. Don't have a battery or glow plug to start the truck and see if moving it fixes the issue. I know someone came to my camp at some point in the last 12 hours; at first I thought they took the UMP (and maybe they did, but there's an unusable 4x3 space in the truck where the UMP was) - they definitely took some RAK mags and switched their green talon for my blue mountain pack. I wish they had signed the guest book. I leave pen and paper in the UMP truck asking folks to tell me when they were there so I can try and figure out how the persistence works/doesn't.

    I think you're right. Played for a while on SC02. Then logged and went to SC04 - fresh spawn. Right back out and right back to 02. Still as I was after playing for a bit. What does that mean?

    Persistence didn't wipe. Just the characters. Is that possible? I just climbed a tower and found the loot (I had shoved two scopes into a pair of pants) as it was this morning.

    PSYCH!!! I totally faked DayZ out; I don't have to leave for an hour and a half! Score!!! ETA: I do note your post was 31 minutes after my warning. I'm telling you, DayZ reads my mind.

    After losing all my backpacks, I've been keeping all the good loot on trucks and using packs for spare testing gear. But, I hated to keep a truck battery on a truck full of good loot, so I hid my spare in a smersh pack. :(
