the fuck... they have never said anything about deadlines, they even made it clear that the devblogs would be postponed if it interfered with development. at least till june i'll just play arma 2, football manager 2013 and fallout. thats all i need for the moment. -
Charcoal as antidote and making fire with no matches

Hi! I Was watching a military channel program (on netflix, in the line of duty its called, check it out) about high altitude-wilderness survival. It was about the us marines winter survival course. There were a couple of things there that i found cool if implemented in dayz SA. there should be implemented the ability to create elements from wood like cups to drink from (by pouring charcoal into a wooden block) Charcoal should be implemented as an antidote for food poisoning, if you ingest some charcoal it will suck up all the toxins from your stomach and make you vomit instantly. This should come at some health cost. Make noise booby traps and booby traps in order to catch animals (small game like small gain, rabbits, birds and so forth) or warn of intruders.. this could be implemented with the new crafting module. the most interesting was the ability to make fire with friction. making a "bow" with string and wood and combine them to make fire. this could be interesting and give you more alternatives if you dont find matches. There should also be the possibility to make blunt weapons like clubs from wood and attach a stone with some string. this could be used as a extremely ineffective weapon against humans or as a crude weapon against the infected. -

i totally agree, the graffitti should be on chernarussian though. when it comes to corpses i am totally for it, a start could be making brand new massgraves with more detailed gore on the bodies. dont think too much about corpses in houses because there would be the same placement on every server and it would not be as "random" and exciting. -

i was also killed by someone with a slienced gun just north of NW airfield. i was looking for tommygunz mistery van and had got all the way there from berezino when suddenly someone unloaded at least 10-20 SD rounds at me. could hear the whizzling of bullets hitting around. pretty fucked up cuz i didnt see anyone. Had been haning around the area at least an hour before i sprinted south to NW and got zapped... -

i am having some really weird performance issues with my arma 2. sometimes it will play smooth as hel with AA on and other times it will be shit. this arma2 engine is so f'ing weird with the graphics -
i just print out a 4x4 meter map of chernarus in my living room and mark it with small flags...

but really, could it stop a 7,62 round at 300 meters? could it? i dont really think that it could help too much. if u get hit by a m4/ak round it could still knock the shit outta u,. Maybe some kind of makeshift padding against z's would be more useful...?

Dude, it is all about waht u make out of the game. there 'll be awful moments of frustration, u 'llget killed by bandits without warning and u may get saved by survivors... thats just how the game is. I just got killed with my 2 day old character and i had just a lee einfeld and som morphine...they killed me for the lulz, but who cares. tomorrow i play again and loot the shit outta they camp and may just kill one of them. just be imaginative. -
FPS Drop Spikes in certain situations

i too have a toshiba (laptop) and get some fps drops in certain situations. it dependes often on the server, if it has just restarted the drops will be fewer... for some reason or another i get better performance running very high on shadows detail, object detail. and textures. Then i disable AA and vsync and HDR to normal. then it will vary between 30-40fps in open terrain and reducing to 15 in towns when i get the drops. i have a toshiba qosmio with a i7 2,2 ghz, 8GB ram and Nvidia gforce gtx 560. i think that performance in dayz is very server dependant. just choose a server with regular restarts and use winxp extention... -
how the f did u get a beartrap? isnt it part of the new update that has not been released?

Allright, cannibalism. It should be possible to gut freshly dead survivors. With increasing heartbeat when detected (lower humanity) in order to stack up with food in desperate situations. It would add a real creepy yet somewhat intense feeling to surviving in the dayz world. Extentions to chernarus. ok lets say that making a whole new map is to much work, but what about some community based extentions to the chernarus map, maybe some more woods the north with some bigger towns, military bases, airfields and other types of vehicles. Perhaps like a river that man can cross in to a big city to the north. idunno just some silly ideas. whatdouthink?

Hi guys, love the server. I am mr.plores in game. i was wondering if i am the only one getting FPS drops in chicago 10 lately, specially after the last Beta was released a couple of days ago. really never had this problem before with the game even when the FPS problems serverwide were at they worst.l The FPS drops often show up when getting close to towns. in the wilderness it will vary between 30-40 FPS. usually have a ping of 140 dunno if this has anything to do with it. i play from norway. aaaaaand...how do i donate? -

@logan that is actually a very good point i have not thought about. there has to be some kind of mechanic to emulate peoples tabu towards eating human flesh. at the same time we could think of the cannibals in the walking dead comic that used that merely as a scare tactic. that is also a mechanic that i think should be implemented, the fact that bandit cab scare away survivors or coherce them to give up loot without violence. like the pirates used the jolly roger back in the day. maybe bandits could like collect survivor ear that they then could hang from they necks or whatever. to show that u are a real badass and should bot be fucked with. i dunno maybe ears or like carry a survivor severed head that they could then throw at u to scare other players. a non lethal takedown mechanic would add like a new dimension to player interactions. not that i am all against lethal pvp. -
rocket, did you have anything to do with the guy that wrote the "Undead Mod" for ARMA 2 back in 2010? that mod still gave a lot of good times in the editor before dayz.

Long time listener first time caller. I am pretty happy about the state of the alpha right now. The servers seem way more stable and the new fixes have increased my FPS by 10 and i am using a freaking laptop (toshiba qosmio) to play. i get about 30-40 FPS'es at medium settings. This did not happen before. played with barely 15-20 FPS. Also i use Arma launcher, i would recommend this software to everyone playing this mod and ARMA in general. you can get it at armaholic.com I would also recommend to use the winxp extention in the shortcut as this has also increased my fps a lot both in multiplayer and singleplayer. The fact that morphine is so low makes scavenging way more demanding. The only thing that annoys the shit outta me is got to be the super hearing zombos. It cannot be that i am laying prone in a building and they can still aggro. actually i wold like the military camp near balota to be moved inland in order to make that whole area less of a zombo deathtrap. It would be cool if it could me moved toward the northern edge between NE airfield and devils castle. anyways. rocket has made the game of my dreams, i'll gladly let my GF give you a handy and donate the virginity of my forst daughter to you sir. thank you for this great mod.
