MegaMind (DayZ)

I am pretty confused. I can't seem to find the "normal" DayZ, where you start with nothing but your underpants and shirt on, and you have to loot things, which you can keep even if you switch servers. This is at least how it was on DayZ Standalone, and friends told me, that it's the same on DayZ Mod, but you have a lot of additional features, like cars etc. - I didn't see a single car until now (I was in, like, 10 servers already). What confuses me most is, that sometimes I start with a rifle in my inventory, sometimes with nothing but painkillers, bandages and some other medical stuff.

Sorry. I thought that Epoch, Vanilla etc. were mods within DayZ, and not something entirely different.

Which is the most popular one, with most servers, great stability etc? Is the progress saved even if you change servers or not? (Like it is on most DayZ Standalone servers). Sorry for my lack of knowledge. Kind regards, MegaMind

Which version would you recommend? 1.8.2? What about the different maps, do I need to download them through DayZ Commander or something like that?

Is there any way to downgrade my DayZ-Mod then? There are very few servers which run on 1.8.3 It would be great if any of you could provide me with instructions how to get back to previous versions of DayZ (best would me the most popular one, which I believe is 1.8.2? Thank you guys! After filtering the results with "1.8.3", I was able to join 2 servers without any problems (and got killed by a zombie after being afk). I have one more question: How can I make sure, that I join cheater-protected servers? Something like "VAC" in Counter Strike?

Thanks a lot for your help. How can I be sure, that I have the latest update of DayZ Mod? I can't find the version-number of my game anywhere. I'm not really sure if Steam provides the latest updates or not.

This is what I did: I bought "Arma 2: Complete Collection" on Steam (which includes the normal "Arma 2" and "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead). I downloaded every game within the collection through Steam. Then I started "Arma 2", after that I started "Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead", after that I started "Arma 2: DayZ Mod". Until then, everything went fine. When I clicked on "Multiplayer", the servers were listed. However, this is where the problem appears: Whenever I want to connect to any server on the list, I get one of two error messages, they seem to appear randomly when I try to connect. One error message says: "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted. dayz_epoch, glt_m300t, mbg_killhouses, mbg_african_buildings, glt_bh_burned, kpfsWaysigns, pook_h13, aif_arma1buildings, git_bh_wreck, csj_gyroac, jetskiyanahuiaddon". Hello guys, recently I bought DayZ Mod after playing the DayZ Standalone version and being strongly disappointed, I decided to try this one. However, me and my friends are not able to figure out, how to get DayZ mod working, since none of the guides we followed does lead us to any positive results. Could you help us with this new version? How can I actually get DayZ Mod to work? Do I need DayZ Commander (and does it actually work with this version of the Mod)? I'm sorry for my lack of knowledge.
