Zombies way too hard now
ironman Tetsuo replied to A Bush killed me's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I completely disagree, if anything Zombies could do with being that little bit harder but that should come with better AI routines as they're added. You don't have to crawl everywhere, you can walk upright right behind a zombie and he wont see you, you can use buildings to break line of sight and if worst comes to worst you just hide in a pine tree and they lose agro immediately. I understand new players may find it difficult but it needs to remain as such otherwise there's nothing to occupy veteran players and left unchecked and running wild they will be a bigger threat to you than a dumb ass brain muncher. what do you mean "not realistic?" ~The way I see it, the town is supposed to be swarmed with zombies but the game can't show them all at once it would kill your CPU, so you only see 20 but you kill them and 20 more appear, you can keep going till you're near 100 but they do eventually stop. I like it, it makes it feel like there's a real epidemic as opposed to a handful of Zs per town. -
Banned for no reason, guessing it was updating to new ARMA 2 Revision, so here are my thoughts on the mod as it is.
ironman Tetsuo replied to CJBlackbird's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1) There's enough threads about hacking, I've commented in some of them. The short of it is the same loop holes Script-Kiddies use are the ones DayZ needs to run because it's a mod which effectively makes it a "legal" hack of Arma already. 2) Global chat needed to go, it ruined the atmosphere and I for one haven't noticed much change to the game's dynamic since it went, if anything I've had more friendly encounters than before 3) not going to happen and I don't think you truly understand the situation either, it's not as simple as you think. 4) graphic errors have been fixed with 1.7.2.5 try to keep up :P Zombies are funky because of the limitations of the mod, not a lot can be done not without a lot of work which is better spent elsewhere and again, graphics bug already fixed lastly, try to understand: Alpha - add things Beta - Fix things So having broken things whilst in Alpha is totally normal -

i'd be more willing to agree if you learnt how to write a decent post, threatening to leave for a game that doesn't even exist as anything more than a list of bullet points is a great way to gain some sympathy..... By all means play some other games, go outside, watch the olympics! having to wait 9 days is not the end of the world, i'm very much looking forward to the update.

Dogs are in next patch !!!!!!
ironman Tetsuo replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
what i'd like from dogs... Growling when the scent of a stranger is nearby (is there wind direction in Arma?) Dogs can sniff a corpse and then locate whoever touched the corpse last If dog is attacked by zombie then a % chance dog gets infected. Leading to rare situations when you have to put your dog out of its misery (I am Legend) or leaving it to become zombie dog! (who will attack anyone even it's owner) repetition of actions makes your dog better at those actions. i.e. The more you use the dog to hunt the quicker it gets at finding the scent of prey. Dog packs for stashing extra items on your dog (like four slots or something) You have to feed your dog or it will die, same with water a Whistle command to bring your dog back to you. a stealth command to keep dog close and to stop it running around. -

What if the map was randomized?
ironman Tetsuo replied to Seiseki's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I remember Rocket talking about loot spawns in a video interview and he mentioned how the present system is just a placeholder cobbled together quickly just to test out the idea. He talked about military camps being able to spawn in different places to keep things fresh. Part of the problem with obtaining loot at the moment is that once you learn the map you no longer have to explore. You can spawn and make a bee line for all the places you've memorised from cheat-sheet maps, I think making these kind of loot buildings random would certainly improve the system. The buildings in the game are not part of the map they are the same as every other object except they have a fixed spawn location, it could probably be changed quite easily, keeping it balanced is where the difficulty would be, if it was rushed you could end up with some situations where 90% of the map is empty and all the buildings spwan next to each other... -
When are you really gonna to stop OFF-MAP vehicle hoarders!!
ironman Tetsuo replied to BossFi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it will be fixed once it's a priority i suppose. Whilst it can be annoying it's hardly pivitol to the game itself at this moment in time. -
Hackers, and the state of the standalone game?
ironman Tetsuo replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it's not so much the move to a new engine that will help but more the move from mod to stand-alone itself. DayZ mod IS a Hack, it's code bolted on top of something that already exists rather than living within it. For the mod to even work it needs certain permissions to run on the arma engine that can also be abused by those less scrupulous hence the ease of hacking. Everyone that thinks blocking hackers is as easy as blocking the routes in don't understand that those same loopholes are what allow DayZ to run in the first place. As a stand-alone it will no longer need to adapt what's already in place instead it can rewrite the rules itself. -

The Survivor Running Speed
ironman Tetsuo replied to MrJimmySlayer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Even when developing a game that is intended to feel "Authentic" (see i skipped past "Realistic" as that's a stupid term to use when working with computer games) balance has to be considered when adding features. Adding stamina would be more true to life but would the benefit outweigh the negative impacts on gameplay? In this case probably not. I'd rather the game sidestep reality when it comes to features that bog the game down for no reason other than a false pursuit of realism. -
DayZ from Steam in a few brief and simple steps (No third party programs such as SixUpdater, all in all granting better experience)
ironman Tetsuo replied to zDevon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's why they invented consoles..... What makes me laugh are all the graphic "fixes" people keep posting up for the military body glitch and are surprised when it doesn't work for everyone, PC gaming is all about different setups of wildly varying hardware configurations, it must be a mental nightmare to develop for and I can see why so many devs treat the platform as second best. -

To not get shot. What will it take. Seriously
ironman Tetsuo replied to flat1820's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You also have to take into consideration that there are not many reasons currently to trust strangers, what exactly are you hoping to achieve by offering other people your loot? I'm really looking forward to the introduction of more features centered around group play but they're still a way off yet so trying to indulge in anything of the sort now is pretty pointless. -
this isn't the way to report hackers

ironman Tetsuo replied to flat1820's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you want to know how to befriend people even though you say yourself you befriended two people already....? I think the problem is the sort of player you're approaching. People already in groups don't noramlly accept strangers and then there's the whole problem of never being sure if your direct chats are even getting through to the other players. Fresh spawns are your best bet but even then you have to keep your guard up. Don't let people out of your sight, don't let "new friends" point their guns in your direction and certainly don't pop out of a bush in front of strangers waving the friendly flag, more often than not you'll spook people into shooting you on sight. -
Hack Fest 2012 - FR117 is where its @
ironman Tetsuo replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you sir are part of the problem not the solution. If you have information regarding hackers report it in the correct manner, all you've done here is post a trophy for those script kiddies to fawn over.. -
make your mind up, is the patch 3 weeks late or 8 days? Go play Lingor island then if you think they're doing such a great job, we wont miss you or your stinky attitude.

FFS! Someone ban this OP till he learns how to report hackers. Starting threads like these actually adds to the problem, you've posted up a big sign post that says "Hey Hackers, your efforts to screw with us are working, keep up the good work!" Everyone that needs to know is already aware of the situation. If you have details on a hacker submit it in the proper fashion, stop making threads like these, you have become part of the problem (where is the option for that in your poll??)
