voted Still loving the game but have actively tried to not over-play and end up with burnout. When I first started I was playing constantly every chance I got but now I only play one or two evenings a week and it's much better, I don't get annoyed as much and find it easier to take the rough with the smooth. More than anything though I'm really looking forward to the standalone version.

If you check out Rocket's AMA on the DayZ Reddit he answers several people asking which engine the standalone will use (ARMA II or III?) and he answers with "neither" he has a custom built engine based somewhere between two. I wouldn't worry about him "doing it all from scratch" as that won't really be the case. The ideas are already fleshed out thanks to the mod experiment, he will have more control and power over the code and seeing as he created DayZ on his own over a few months imagine how quick it will be with a full team and an action plan! All will be cool i'm sure

I can't answer any of the OP's stuff but I did think of a reason for this... If you're shooting targets at range and then an enemy pops up right in front of you at close range and you don't have time to change the zero :P

before patch I couldn't go to airfields without artifacting, since the patch those are now fixed for me but now I get the effect when approaching hospitals instead (and green mountain) but at least I can go to Stary now...

that's right, if it's not going your way crank it to 11 in the other direction because that's the best way to make a point..... I never mentioned realism so I'm not sure why you're trying to use it to bluntly beat me over the head with it, besides, Rocket has always maintained the Authentic > Realistic stance himself. When I said this game isn't supposed to be fun it may have confused you because i didn't expand upon the point, this game is supposed to be tense with a large dollop of despair wrapped in paranoia and topped with a poisoned cherry. I'm sorry if i don't think "who's shooting in Cherno" "I'm Friendly" "WHY YOU SHOOT ME?" "098 BACK TO BASE!!" "ROGER" "ROGER" adds to that atmosphere. Edit: I should also make it clear that a ) I love the idea of CB radios b ) If i had my way even teamspeak would be blocked. I would like it that if you're chatting to your online friends then people hiding nearby should be able to hear what you're saying. c ) if side chat was optional I'd oppose it less, I don't care how others play in that regard

I'm currently sporting a full silvery beard which looks rather dashing against my dark skin, I think it shows off my maturity and wisdom with great gusto. Great post by the way, it's been ages since i've seen one!

It seems like the bandit skin doesn't support backpacks at the moment, you still have one and it's perfectly usable, if you change clothes you will see it again. oh, and you're a naughty boy! /adds to hitlist

on a slightly related note, I got "The Cough" yesterday, headed straight to Elektro and found Antibiotics in the hospital in the first box i looked in! I'm either very lucky (first time i've seen them in 8 weeks of playing) or the spawn rate has been boosted....

I find with games like DayZ that have such a unique feel that it's very easy to play too much and get burnout. Having a break for a few weeks and then returning to see what's new is a great way to avoid becoming a jaded whiner. There's plenty of other great games out at the moment that i'm enjoying the chance to catch up on (thank you graphics glitch, I wouldn't have found the time without you!)

Global chat is in complete friction with the essence of the game, there's no mystery or suspense when the entire town is having a chin wag in the corner of the screen, yes it's distracting and no i don't have ADHD. Have you ever tried to watch a TV program with subtitles on and not get sucked into reading the words instead of listening to them? But just because I don't want Global back doesn't mean I think the game works fine as is, the introduction of radios would be much better and more in keeping with the theme and plus they can be turned off!

boring people bore easily..... I don't think DayZ would have reached a million installs if it was just the same as everything else. I for one find it very hard to play CoD, BF or HAlo now because they all feel so restrained and limiting.

you should have gone to Specsavers (then you'd have noticed the other hundred identical threads already posted on the subject....) B)
