Controlling the parachute?
ironman Tetsuo replied to spankimus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want to practice, disable the DayZ mod in the extensions option from the game's main menu (to stop it from blocking ARMA 2), reboot and play some of the pre-set Arma training missions. There is one specifically for parachuting and the best way to learn is to do it yourself. B) While you're there have a go at flying a helicopter! -
Standalone to use Arma 2 engine
ironman Tetsuo replied to Elo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He's done so many interviews now I can't remember where I saw it, if i find it i'll be back! Would be nice to know for sure Edit: (i'll post this if i find it but..) I remember him saying that they were stripping out ARMA 3's ragdoll and putting in a basic one that fitted DayZ better, so that's where I got the impression that it uses a stripped out ARMA 3 engine. -
Coke or Pepsi products in standalone?
ironman Tetsuo replied to maclawa's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
neither, he's already taken the branded goods off the front page of the website and will probably use a design that spoofs real world drinks. -
Standalone to use Arma 2 engine
ironman Tetsuo replied to Elo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you totally miss the point, the engine isn't called "ARMA Engine" it's called RV and Rocket is using a tweaked version of the RV used in ARMA 3 but with all the crap he doesn't need stripped out, hence the 2.5!!! it doesn't mean he's taken the RV from ARMA 2 and added stuff. Again, if you want to call the Engine the same as the game then you'd be better of saying DayZ will use the Take on Helicopters Engine. -
Combat logging: One of these things is not like the other.
ironman Tetsuo replied to Travis31's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You said you were moving to a destination so the only reason you'd log off before reaching point B would be to dodge the attacker. -
Someone lost a chopper here? No seriously. What are the odds?
ironman Tetsuo replied to TheLazzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds most likely to be a hacker trying to hit you with a helicopter kamikaze style -
Standalone to use Arma 2 engine
ironman Tetsuo replied to Elo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
it's using a modified RV engine, there's no such thing as an "ARMA II Engine" herpy derpy Dean is taking the new RV build for ARMA 3 but removing all the parts he doesn't need hence the "Arma 2.5" tag, he has actually said it's closer to the RV Engine used for Take on Helicopters -

DayZ Collectors Edition Ideas
ironman Tetsuo replied to Hell-In-A-Handbasket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I generally hate the practice, loading a game up with $10 of toot and adding $15 to the price... I do like concept art books and soundtrack CDs though, so if we have to have CEs that's the sort of thing I'd buy one for. -
Debug monitor will be gone in 1.7.3 !

well ignoring the fact none of us "know" how much blood we have (IRL), you can always just use the colour of your screen, nice and colourful? you're healthy, almost black and white? Get blood-bagged! -
[POLL] Standalone and instances
ironman Tetsuo replied to moriak's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Instances will be for player built structures and not loot caves or mission hubs like WoW, i'm not sure how else they could be done without impacting on server performance. -

Magic white blobs at side of screen
ironman Tetsuo replied to arx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think they're that dumb, your view is severely limited in game compared to true human vision, movement in the corner of your eye will always attract your attention and I think the white blobs are a good way to replicate that ability. It's certainly no less stupid than 3rd person view... -
There is actually people with morals in this game.
ironman Tetsuo replied to MXGStatik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
10+ weeks play time, 1 bandit kill, 0 murders, 4280 humanity. When I first bought DayZ I promised myself I'd always try and play the game as I think I would behave in real life, not for some morally high-horse reason but just because I thought it would be the most immersive way for me to approach the game. -
it's the same as Minecraft, KSP and Overgrowth.....

I have the ultimate fix for everything although I don't think some of you are going to like it, but here it is anyway. Uninstall the game No more bugs, glitches or hackers, this really is the ultimate fix for everything... What? I'm mad? I don't know what I'm talking about? Let me explain.... Rocket started a party, he expected 600 people to arrive but a million showed up instead and he hasn't baked enough sausage rolls. Under prepared the mod as it was has crumpled under it's own weight and it's no one's fault (although you could blame Rocket for creating something too popular). Why are there so many glitches? Because there's a million players that need to be supported by vast infrastructures that one man and a team of unpaid volunteers cannot maintain forever. Millions of players doing millions of things in a short space of time, a million plus ways of finding every weakness exploit and bug. What DayZ needs is stability, stability that only comes from a stand-alone. Why are there so many hackers? Because the mod is popular. Hackers will go wherever there are large groups of players to hack. YOU are the reason this game is popular thus YOU are the reason the hackers came. When the mod was started it was designed for a few friends, you don't need a system to prevent mass hacker invasion when you're designing something so small in scale. Rocket could never have predicted DayZ to attract so many people but now the mod is paying the price. (but it also came with rewards) But Rocket needs us! Rocket needed numbers, he got those numbers far in excess of his wildest dreams and with those numbers he has been able to secure DayZ's future. Rocket needs us to be patient. Rocket needs support. Rocket doesn't need a forum full of obvious complaints badly disguised as "bug reporting", he knows about every problem with the mod they've been posted a million times already. What DayZ needs is stability, stability that only comes from a stand-alone. But we paid for this party! No, we paid for the taxi to the party and now we're standing outside (there's no room left indoors) demanding to be entertained. Rocket has recently announced he's getting a giant warehouse where we can all party together and there's bouncers on the doors to stop the naughty men getting in but it won't be ready for a while because these things don't magically appear from thin air, yet we continue to jump up and down like spoilt children squealing "BUT WE WANT TO PARTY NOW!" There is no party, not yet. The mod was an experiment, it has done it's job and now we have to wait for the main event to start. what about the future of the mod? "The mod will die!" seems to be a very popular opinion here but I find that furthest from the truth. The mod will lose a lot of players but this is a good thing, less popularity, less hackers and then when the stand-alone is out Rocket will open up the mod for everyone to make their own hives, run their own servers the way they want to and even add the ideas they want to the game. The mod will continue to be a very big factor in the development of the stand-alone, the mod will become the wild playground where new ideas are born and then assimilated back into the main game. The mod will always be important, the mod isn't dying it will just shed the excess weight. TL:DR If you can get past the glitches and hackers then continue playing, but if it's all getting too much for you then take a break. Uninstall the game and come back when the stand-alone is here, save yourself the stress.

The ultimate fix for everything
ironman Tetsuo replied to ironman Tetsuo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket was a contractor for ARMA III Multiplayer, he was never a fully employed member of BI. T he mod was created in his free time around his duties to that other game, the mod had no connection with BI other than it used their game as a base like every other player created mod out there and he didn't receive any money for it (he did however earn himself a big break in his career). Rocket is now Lead designer for DayZ stand-alone at BI but that only happened very recently (begining of August 2012, DayZ was started in December 2011). The people that run this website, forum and all the servers are unpaid volunteers, you only ever got to play DayZ through their hard work and generosity. -
Shit DayZ players say (contribute!)

The ultimate fix for everything
ironman Tetsuo replied to ironman Tetsuo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey! Maybe I should clarify the whole "Uninstall" thing, I am just refering to DayZ (which currently prevents Arma II from working whilst activated) but I probably used that word as it has more impact than "just stop playing". my bad  -
The ultimate fix for everything
ironman Tetsuo replied to ironman Tetsuo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hackers don't hack games no one is playing, hackers follow the crowds to get the biggest responses, they are creatures that seek to provoke reactions. If you read the bit about the mod correctly you'd see I actually put forward 3 reasons why the mod will NOT die. You're arguing my own point -
All tents and vehicles have been completely wiped...after the hive crashed.
ironman Tetsuo replied to mattdbx@yahoo.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But you can't play the right, fixed, smooth finished game because it doesn't exist. Yes "it's an Alpha" excuse is getting old, how about a new one, "This isn't a game yet!" The problem with DayZ is that it's too good, and when dumb shot stops you from enjoying it makes it all the worse, if DayZ was crap no one would give a rats arse (even the hackers!) But like all things in life, you have to be prepared to wait for the good things. I feel your pain but the game will be right, fixed, smooth and finished but you may have to wait 6 months yet. -
Crossbow could be my favorite weapon
ironman Tetsuo replied to dillonblunts's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am looking forward to the inclusion of better implemented crossbows too, they are an awesome weapon. If the ammo/bolts didn't currently take up so much room i'd carry one with me at all times. -
I feel that having multiple characters dilutes the risk/reward mechanic DayZ is built around and I hope it's never added to the main game. Why would you fear death if you have 4 other fully armed characters ready to go on the click of a button? It is also open to a lot of abuse (using alt characters as mules to stash equipment near the coast is an easy example).
