Everyone thinks "They know" when the only people that really do know are too busy working on the game. Rocket is in San Fran working on the stand-alone in between business meetings and presentations at PAX (you know, what every other dev worth his salt is doing right now!) whilst two devs are at home working on getting the next mod update ready for Dean's approaval to launch when he returns from America, what more do you want? Of course updates will ebb and flow during different periods in the games production, this was started as an experiment after all but now it has to have a definite plan, you don't get to just wing it once big funding gets involved. You have to be pretty naive to expect a consistent service when the workload has increased exponentially over the last few months. This isn't his bedroom project anymore, he isn't dealing with a handful of player/testers like it was in the beginning so why become so incensed at a change we could all see coming and know to be necessary. Stick around and play when the goings good or wait for the stand-alone, if not, oh well, your loss not mine.

I was on a vet server and didn't realise I had a grenade selected (no crosshairs) I was in a barn being swarmed by Zs and couldn't figure out why my gun refused to fire, that was until I saw the throwing animation kick in..... BOOM! I don't disconnect like a pussy

People who murder bandits =/= heroes
ironman Tetsuo replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some of you have a funny idea about how humanity works.... -
I think the devs would actually prefer a much smaller player base for the mod. Something much more manageble for them would help to keep the project on track especially if they didn't have to deal wih a million people creating a million tents filled with a million AS50s that kept breaking the database...

Stand-Alone anti cheating improvements ?
ironman Tetsuo replied to brizz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ mod is a script running on top of Arma II, to stop cheaters adding their own scripts you'd have to block the very things that make the mod playable. They could change a lot of things to stop the hackers but it would probably ruin the many other mods that also use Arma as a base. DayZ the game will be built from the inside out in its own custom engine, it will naturally be better equiped to fend off external scripters but not 100%. It's like those bottles of bleach that can only claim to kill 99.9% of germs because no matter what you do someone will find a way... -
I shoot on site because of combat loggers
ironman Tetsuo replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I shoot on site because I'm an architect's photographer..... In all seriousness though, the people that combat log are idiots who don't understand what the game is about. The two types of Player Story: True DayZ players: Amazing tales of heroism and banditry, of close escapes and lonely bitter deaths, the stuff classic films are made of... Combat loggers: So I saw this guy. The End -
i just found and shot myself ??????

that will teach you not to shoot the defenceless! Next time you spawn you'll be confronted by the ghost of Christmas past.... -
How did Rocket want "DayZ" pronounced phonetically?

Zee bloody Germans!!! /sorry! -
So, when can we expect a real helpful update?
ironman Tetsuo replied to opulenceguild@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I get decent framerate with an i5 laptop with medium settings, much better than my brother's year old desktop. If it works it works, not sure why people have to get so uppety about it. -
How can you still enjoy this game?
ironman Tetsuo replied to dasd2516's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
boring player is bored.... There are plenty of ways to keep yourself occupied in DayZ, you just have to think outside the box and enjoy interacting with other players. -

UK say Zed, Americans need the softer version "Zee" because for some reason they replaced all the Ss in words with Zs just to be different...... B) -
Why Bandit skins are a terrible idea.
ironman Tetsuo replied to RaxUK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm pretty sure the entire forum was in agreement that KoS increased after the original bandit skins were removed, right up until the new system was started this forum and Reddit were flooded with "Everyone Kills on Sight!" and "DayZ is just PvP chaos!" so i'm not sure other than your own anecdotal evidence where you're getting your information from? Shooting 3 guys (even if they are bandits) doesn't make you more humane, so why would you expect humanity to rise? It's a reflection on your character not a linear score system where you shoot bad guys to make it go up... Bandits wearing bandit clothes will be shot at more than before, but the flip side is the hero skin is shot at less by fresh spawns and other friendlies but countered by becoming a bigger target for other bandits looking to kill goody-two-shoes... -
For the love of God do something about these hackers!!
ironman Tetsuo replied to l3nny's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lol, it's funny how you demand effort to be made on the part of the devs on a subject you've put no effort into searching for on this very forum.... -
Vehicles? Dafuq is wrong?
ironman Tetsuo replied to Maverick2311's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As the game has become more and more popular the database has filled up way beyond what it was designed to cope with, imagine just how many vehicles, guns, barbwire fences and tents it has to try and keep track of when over a million people have played (not to mention the thousands of duped and hacked items brought in externally) -
''Omg hackers are so annoying they ruin the game QQ''
ironman Tetsuo replied to Jackftw's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I usually take their gear and use it to shoot at zombies, once all the ammo is gone and my stress relief is complete I ditch the gun and move on.... In a game where so many miss the point and think logging out to avoid trouble is a legit tactic (which totally bypasses the risk/reward structure the game is built around) is it surprising so many take hacked gear when given the chance? Everyone likes to moan about the inequality but as soon as they get the power their own morals go out the window... Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
