You can run DayZ but it will be very extremely slow on absolute minimal settings. This game was also struggling to run on my 630M, very low fps. Not playable at all. A video of 610m here running dayz

I tried to run it on intel hd4600. It runs around 50% gpu usage with 30fps on minimal settings with 100% render resolution. In cherno on top of the police station facing the city. bottlenecked by the cpu in this case as i get no fps difference between 980m. So it's definitively playable on lowest possible graphical settings. All what i did was to change resolution to 1366x768 and put all the graphical settings to minimal. Off or either very low, lowest setting that it allows me to set to. Setting them to low/normal and the gpu starts to run 100% and bottleneck. It was so slow for me i didn't play long with intel hd4600. Didn't notice any bad graphics. My settings were 800x600 with all settings off or minimum.

Can it run? Yes. But very slow because of the integrated graphics. 800x600 very low and the gpu still can't keep up. I have the 4710HQ with 980M, ran with hd4600 few times accidently. If you can bare with the 20-30fps then it's ok.

I found them many times inside the barracks at the military base near veresnik. Theres also loot explosion on some servers there.

Many crash sites loot are bugged and don't spawn any item at all. I doubt people would also hog useless items that no one wants there because normally I would find leftovers. On some servers it works as intended as i've seen it on other spots besides those static ones with loot.

I've heard many times on this forum that putting shadows on normal/high+ offloads the workload from the CPU to the GPU or other settings to normal. You can try that but for me it only makes my FPS worse in cities and i've seen no mitigation from the cpu at all with overlay programs tested with several high end rigs. Only way I got a reasonable fps was to get my cpu 4770k wto 4.8ghz in cities on very low.

If you don't mind longer loading times, then theres no point installing DayZ on a ssd. What I meant with bins is the turbo boost multiplier of your cpu. If the motherboard allows it and cooling"I think it will do" You could get extra 200mhz out of your cpu and that will for sure add extra fps in cities. Will run fine on dayz on Very High. Though theres no way to go around the CPU bottleneck in the cities, so lower settings will always give you more fps in cities. "Increasing settings offloading to GPU bollocks doesn't work unfortunately" If it throttles or not depends on the cooling of the laptop and the size. I have the GT72 wich is very thick with 980M and my gpu never gets hotter then 72C 100% usage with +135 overclock so it will never throttle down. But sagers do get quite hot compared to gt72, G751, but I don't think yours will throttle because 980m runs more efficient then the 880m. I can't find your model, but I guess its the p650se? As for SSD or HDD, I would say install it on ssd. The loading times are very fast for me but no FPS increase though. What you can also do to get more fps unless the cooling allows you could overclock your cpu +200 bins with intel xtu.

I don't know why you are making a new thread. As i said you don't have enough memory. When I load dayz my commited memory goes up to 7.9 GB. Most likely you are freezing because theres not enough memory left so it tries to swap the memoy to the HDD. Upgrading the cpu to FX6300 or 860K won't give you any performance increase at all because this game will not benefit multiple cores at all. If you had a shtity gpu the game would just lag and not freeze. So upgrade to 8GB or higher.

You don't have enough memory. You need 16GB to be lag free. 8GB is doable but some of the memory will be paging. Had 8gb memory with fresh install of windows 8 and with paging turned off it asks me everytime to close down programs because not enough of memory. Task manager shows i had free ram but those were cached. Sorry but your spec can run this game on low/very low. Game is very cpu heavy and your gpu is also not all the best.

Gtx 970 doesn't use much power so you'll do fine oc'ing. I oc'ed my 4770k to 4.6ghz on 650 psu and my gpu uses alot more power :P

You could just get another pair of 2 x 4gb stick and have 16gb all togheter. This friend of yours running 50fps in cities is either lieing or runnign this game on very low. I had to oc my 4770k to 4.5ghz to get 50fps minimum in cities with very low.

I have the same laptop. But i have 630m wich is abit slower. It's not the cpu but the gpu is just too slow even to run it on minimu. This game runs fantastic on 980m here on 3.5ghz. 200mhz slower then yours. so i think optimization will not help for you because you are bottlenecked by the gpu.

Try to find a laptop with 970m. P650se cost €1192 here without HDD and memory, I think 1k/1.2k for 860m is a waste of money. You could also wait abit for a laptop with 965m. It has been announced few days ago. Really, save a little bit for a laptop with 970m. You will be glad you did.

This is a common issue with older engines . They're working on the new render ;) I guess they are doing something about it.

They would have to rewrite the engine to support multithreading. Most logical is, it cost too much time and resources to do that. Multithreading also adds many challenges to the devs too like synchronization. It's not a simple optimization. It would be an enormous task to do so.

I agree about 8GB memory. I had a fresh install of windows 8 and with virtual memory turned off. Windows would whine i had to close programs because i was out of memory. Popped another 8gb and my stutters also went when loading in areas. Everyone has different experience with ssd on dayz. Some people report fps increase but for me, it only helped with the loading times.

I don't understand how you guys get more fps with higher settings. I always get more fps with lowest settings in cities. Turning settings on high/very high and my fps makes a nosedive, especially shadows, cloud settings and object detail. I've tried this on 4 different high end systems and they yield all the same result.

I think its not easy to add multithreading to the main engine. The engine is outdated and they would have spend alot of time and resources to rewrite it. I seen many games suffering from the same problem. I don't think its bad optimization but more of a design limitation. Probably to do when they developed the engine at the beginning. The other problem that amd has it that 2 physical cores has to share one floating point unit. Hurting the performance even more in dayz.

That's the same for arma 2...Runs nice too there with good scripts... The problem is related to the engine not able to scale well among all threads, bottlenecking the CPU. Leaving too much headroom left on the GPU. arma 3 runs like shit too on my kewl 4.6ghz i7 780ti l33t rig no 60fps 24/7 :(The solution is not to use arma 3 engine as it has the same flaws. But rewriting the render engine to scale well on multi core cpus to eliminate cpu bottleneck wich devs are probably doing.

I agree with you. Most of these specs above run on i7 mobile cpu's that perform similar to i5 desktop. I own i7 4770k oc to 4.6ghz and the difference is just 5fps-10fps. Though higher settings also strain the cpu alot. very high settings with not fully used gpu gives me 25 40 fps in cities. A non gamin laptop will still play this game on low settings. but high/very high ,I doubt it. my 3610qm spare laptop with 630m runs this game on 800x600 with lower settings runs like dog shit.

Theres also alot of confusion that arma 3 engine is optimized compared to dayz that will bring salvation to 20fps in cities. It suffers the same multithreading issues as DayZ. Theres a huge thread going on on arma 3 forums related to low cpu utilization.

I think the new render will change how the multithreading works instead of doing the main render only on one thread or two. Eliminating the bottleneck of the cpu. No more 20fps in cities and let the beefy gpu shine.
