Interesting choice, i guess this along with the Garand confirms 30-06. Are they still planning to split '7.62' into 7.62x54r and .308? Having 7.63x54r, 30-06 and .308 all being used for low end weapons would be pretty mad, So as i see it they'll either not split 7.62 or change the blaze and longhorn to 30-06. However this would leave the fal (which isn't even in yet) as the only .308/7.62x51, maybe they'll just have the model 70 chambered in .308 which is a much more acceptable breach of realism than the 7.62x51 Mosin.

Alcohol: Beer, Wine and Spirits. And craftable Distilleries.

Sounds good! Vodka is in the game files so hopefully we'll see it before too long, but is distilling really easier than making wine? -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
B4GEL replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
TOZ-18 This is a USSR made .22lr bolt action rifle, it takes a 5 round detachable magazine and can fit a PU scope. Pretty cool right? Apologies if this has already been suggested i searched and didn't find anything -
Any of you guys wonder what time period dayz is in.
B4GEL replied to Azzerrrr's topic in General Discussion
But when will we be able to drink it in game? -
When they remove the lrs from the Mosin they'll most likely add a new bolt action in 7.62x54r/51 that does take it so i don't think that will necessarily resolve the issue. Hopefully it will be much rarer so that the Mosin with PU or CR with lrs are the available options for most people.
-
IRL I'm sure you're right but i don't think that it will necessarily translate to being better in game. I'm not saying it's inherently useless but as it stands, even when it does get a scope, the Mosin will be the better choice. The Mosin does more damage and uses easier to find ammo, the CR527's low damage needs to be balanced by high ammo availability and they can't increase the availability of 7.62x39 if the AKM is the most common assault rifle.

Here's some traps from Vietnam that would fit in dayz pretty well
-
Realistically the M4 should be able to mount the long range scope, it wouldn't be that useful but it would be cool.
-
In my opinion the scale from most common to rarest should be: AK74 AKM AKS-74U AK101/74M The AKM can't be the most common AK, simply because it's too good, it uses a common ammo and has the highest damage. Modularity isn't so much of a game changer that removing attachment compatibility will negate its pro's. The devs have reduced the frequency of 7.62x39 spawning outside army bases as a way to reduce the effectiveness of the AKM but all that does is make the CR527 (and to a lesser extent the SKS) useless. On modularity all AKs should fit the attachments they can in real life, i doubt AK74 and AKM furniture is is interchangeable irl, so it shouldn't be in game (correct me if I'm wrong here). The damage done by 5.45x39 should be much closer to 5.56x45 than it is currently. If the damage of 5.45 is changed to be more realistic and there is little difference between it and 5.56 the AK101 and AK74 would perform pretty much the same which would mean the AK101 may as well be an AK74m which would just be a lighter, more durable and more accurate AK74 with the added benefit of being more realistic.

I don't think we can really say what would work best until we see how far barricading goes but maybe there could be piles of furniture or rubble in front of unopenable doors which i think would be less immersion breaking than finding you can't break down a door you would be able to break down in real life.
-
But what about when barricading comes in? people will be trying to crowbar the planks off and we'll be back to where we started

Fuel Source Depletion And Alternative Fuel Sources (Server Uptime)
B4GEL replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in Suggestions
The alternative fuel idea is good, but I'm not sure the fuel depletion mechanic would work on public servers where there is new people coming in and and out continuously. If there were random fluctuations in the amount of fuel in gas stations over each restart perhaps it would achieve the same effect in making people look for alternatives. To me permanent resource depletion just doesn't make much sense in terms of of creating a narrative unless there is a fixed community that is there from the beginning. So it could work well on a private hive (perhaps all pre-apocalypse resources could run out?), but on on a public server most people hopping in and out would experience it no differently than they would randomly fluctuating fuel reserves and unless reserves are based on a fixed timer rather than amount of fuel consumed on the server those in the know could game the system by hopping over to a server with lots of gas and bring it back to refuel. -
I feel like we need a new vest. All the vests in game at the moment are pretty modern so how about an old school one? The Chicom design was originally from China (it's in the name) but there are locally made variations from Africa, South America, The Middle East, Russia and Eastern Europe. It could be a low level military spawn item, 6 slots but common and with cute wooden toggles. What do you reckon?
-
I always thought it was a shame they didn't go for that style of beanie, it's what you see all the Russian military wearing. The more the merrier!

Cool yourself by pouring water on your face from a water bottle!
B4GEL replied to the_governor's topic in Suggestions
Perhaps this mechanic could also be used for other liquids, enabling you to pour gasoline over yourself or other people... -
Why not skip making rags and just use the t-shirt?

Can only carry gun/tool on your baack if you have a pack
B4GEL replied to Karmaterror's topic in Suggestions
I agree its totally feasible, hopefully the devs will end up having some spare time to work on it. On this point i hope they change the one handed weapons back slot to be at the hip, that would look a bit more natural at least. -
Can only carry gun/tool on your baack if you have a pack
B4GEL replied to Karmaterror's topic in Suggestions
The Devs have said a few times that they won't add slings, i guess it's because it would be difficult to make it look good when the weapon is in your hands. Needing a Backpack (or some vests?) is a good compromise because as you said the current situation looks ridiculous. -
A new approach to the bandits and heros situation

Beautifully said -
I can't wait for this sort of thing, it was great to see disease in Q1 on the new road map and hopefully other advanced medical stuff will come along with it. However its a difficult balance, they said they were working on suicide in a recent devblog and it's going to be hard to stop people from suiciding and running back to their gear if they get a disease or broken limb they can't fix in 30 seconds.

"Right now DayZ's Early Access build goes for €23.99 / $29.99, but after the Steam Fall Sale ends on 1st December the price will hike up to $34.99 (or your local equivalent). The reason for this so the price increase isn't too drastic all at once. "We would like to avoid a sudden increase in price once we hit the final release version," the developer said in its announcement."

This. You generally see a lot of military surplus in rural areas, hard wearing clothing with lots of pockets is useful when you're a farmer. A different way to reduce the effectiveness of people running around in full camo would be to have a wide variety of patterns that don't all suit the terrain, so the people that do wear it look like the Russian rebels in Ukraine in a hodgepodge of desert, woodland etc. rather than soldiers in uniform.

Increase player interaction by non-trivializing "civilian tasks"
B4GEL replied to Evil Minion's topic in Suggestions
All the people who are friendly in the game in its current state are, at great risk to themselves, friendly for no reason (if you accept that the aim of the game is survival). Adding in game mechanics that encourage cooperation and limiting resources is very unlikely to make these people turn to KOS. Will adding in these game mechanics give people who do KOS pause for thought before pulling the trigger? I don't know, but i doubt it will do any harm. Nice ideas OP! -
I remember Rocket saying that they decided against multiple layers of clothing (shirt under coat etc) because there would be no way of visually identifying what was on underneath, its a shame because it would really deepen the clothing mechanics (especially now with temperature)
