    Yeah i definitely would like to see addiction I was only saying that injecting morphine when you're starving probably wouldn't help much. But should status effects signify actual body condition or what it feels like? Surely it's unrealistic to know when you are healthy and energized and it instead means that you feel healthy and energized? Status messages at least ("i feel hungry"), are feelings rather than needs and would therefore be effected by appetite suppressors like morphine. Exactly what utility this suppression of status messages would have i don't know but it would be an interesting detail nonetheless.

    They employ at least one person who's entire job is to buy and research hacks. It's not even recent, one of the devs said this half a year ago.
  7. With the recently announced 'hardcore mode' (much longer spawn timers) that's going to be much less of an issue, at least on the servers where i play. The zombie attracting trap idea is very good, hopefully the z count will get high enough that this will be really effective. There should probably be some way of disabling craftable traps like tripwires but the tools required to do so should only be available to a well equipped burglar.

  9. I actually think traps will need to be relatively easy to find or craft. They're the only thing that will make barricading a building viable without unrealistic barricade durability. Without the worry of a grenade or shotgun going off as soon as they open the door any newspawn could crowbar their way into a groups base while the owners were afk.

    Everyday mundane items

    I think it is definitely important to add useless items, if you played experimental one of those times when hardly any loot was spawning you'll know how fun it is to have to be on the edge of starvation and death almost all the time but also how boring it is searching for loot when there's nothing in any buildings. If instead a large proportion of items spawning were useless (for survival at least), then looting would still be fun and it would be a lot harder.

    Definitely agree that we need some more .22 pistols. The MCM target shooting pistol would be a pretty good one to add, apparently it's quite common in Eastern Europe. (Credit to whoever posted it in the weapon suggestion thread.)

    It does sound like normal food poisoning, I didn't even realize they had started adding more complex sickness. Diseases are coming this quarter, I'm very much looking forward to this stuff getting fleshed out.
  15. An interview on "The future of steam workshop, modding and events in Dayz" sounds like it might be worth a watch, looks like the focus will be on the Survivor Games rather than modding though which is a shame.

I got this idea while thinking about a way to add lying down on your back, it would open up lots of options like stargazing, being comfy in a tent, maybe even shooting at someone behind you while prone. I was thinking it could work similarly to the f2 surrender animation which is different depending on what stance you're in. F3 which is currently the sitting down animation could become the key for a stance specific relaxed animation; if you're standing f3 would squat, if you're crouched it would do the current sitting animation and if you're lying down you would roll onto your back. I'm also envisioning being able to aim a weapon while lying down like you can with the current sitting animation which could be especially useful when aircraft come in.
  17. There shouldn't need to be a "proper hardcore mode" once the game is balanced. Why do you want to split the playerbase? why not have those 'hardcore' features forced on everyone?

    Definitely need some tins with a more Eastern European feel, the current ones are all a bit too generic in my opinion.
  19. I didn't mean to imply that you specifically don't enjoy gearing up, it was a rhetorical question. No one regularly plays on 100 thousand servers, it's probably more like 10-20. most just go for the first one with a good ping and their preferred population. If the servers were all private people would think more carefully about what servers they want to play on but you would only need a couple of characters per server location in the world. That is a good point. It's a shame 'hardcore mode' is going to be limited to private hives, it wont have much of an effect when you can change to another server with a geared character on. If it's possible to differentiate between a player being kicked from a server or the server going down and voluntarily leaving a server they really should increase the server switching timer.
  20. But you could still have a character on every single server and could switch between them as you liked, there wouldn't even need to be a server switching timer. You would have to gear up a new character on every new server you join but why are you playing this game if you don't like gearing up?

    DayZ 2.0 - The Sequel

    I like to imagine Dayz 2.0 will start it's life as an extremely popular mod of Dayz standalone created by the enigmatic modder 'Missile'. Bohemia will hire him to make the mod into a standalone game. It will have a long and torturous public alpha, spawn legions of copycat games and 'Missile', will leave halfway through development to start his own company. After its eventual release a modder by the name of 'Torpedo' will create an even more popular mod based on this new game, Bohemia will hire him and the circle of life continues...

    wheelbarrow and other stuff

    Handcarts do have a very end of the world feel about them and don't forget shopping trolleys too. The main issue i see is similar to that of the bike: it's very hard to make a player attached to an object (the wheelbarrow or bike) look natural when it has to interact with things in the world.
  23. I don't understand the point of the public hive. What does it add to the game except server hopping and ghosting? In my opinion the whole idea should be scrapped, characters should not be transferable across servers.

    I just don't think the armband idea would be effective enough to warrant adding it. It will suffer the same drawbacks that wearing the same clothes as your teammates has (that anyone can wear the same clothes), while being even less visible than a hat or or other clothing. However I do hope it is only something of this sort, unreliable group identification is much better than immersion breaking group identification.
  25. Good point. They could add lots more tacticool military clothing so that it s not just people in Gorka or TTSKO although that could just as well exacerbate the problem. They could drastically reduce the amount of military clothing spawning but then the airbases will have nothing in them. I quite like the idea of diluting the military clothing spawns with camo that doesn't suit the environment like desert and snow camo, so hardly anyone can get a fully matching suit and clans end up looking like this or even this.
