Try epoch mod, there's a ton of ai stuff and crafting and you can host it yourself.

I think you are overestimating how good your PC really is - don't get me wrong it's not bad, but it's not good either, and dayz doesn't run well on actually good systems.

Ever since 0.51 I always crash when playing on private hive servers. Basically I get "dayz has stopped working". Works fine on public hive, before I post a bug report I just wanna make sure it's not just me.

So far of my 130 hours of playing dayz a lot of the fun ive had is just being a fresh spawn, not being scared to die - running into cherno with brightly colored clothing without giving a damn who I might run into. As much as people hate bandits they make the game more fun sometimes as a fresh spawn. That intense moment when you are running from someone with an m4 or an ak, and you just barely get away. Maybe there could be a way to have 2 or 3 characters in dayz - where you could switch out once a day or so to prevent switching too often - I feel like its worth it to buy the game again on another account just so I don't need to fear of losing my gear, and I can run through the happy fields of chernarus as singing tiny tims tiptoe through the tulips and just get shot.

This is a story I have to tell. So after I got separated from my friends after getting a character reset, I didn't really have much. I spawned in Solnich, looted it then ran to elektro with just food and a 1911 (with no ammo) In elektro I looted a few houses for food then rushed to the fire station to see what I could snatch. I got myself a fireaxe and a first aid kit, I then walked outside and there was a fully looted guy logged in. I went back into the firestation and asked if he was friendly, he said he was. I wasn't so sure so I opened the door and looked out (with nothing in my hands) and he pulled out a shotgun from his backpack and open fired. He missed (don't ask me how). I thought to myself "ehh, I really have nothing to lose." so I rushed out with a fireaxe and knocked him out, took his m4, and killed him. For some reason, even though he was a bandit I feel really bad. This is what I got from him. : Since late 0.49 / early 0.5 is the first i've played since around march, this is my first m4 since then. There were also 3 more magazines but I didn't screenshot them.
