Yeah forget it. I get it. The so called heros seem to be the biggest a...holes here. I start gonna shoot everybody on sight now. Dont want to be compared to those guys. just kidding: Still gonna ignore them though. When they are heroic ingame they sure dont carry that attitude into the forums. Maybe you should print me your ruleset and send it to me via post so i can do precisely what you expect from your heros. Kappa. And btw: It seems to be a serious misunderstanding that people now think that thats the only thing i do to help people. I wanted to think outside the box, and not a list of things every grade-schooler can come up with. The only thing that actually looked kind of new is the paper with the hidden stash and the backpack with supplies. Like, giving people supplies when they need is the most obvious thing. Thats why i asked in the first post for more ideas. Not some wannabes bathing themselves in pride while screaming that my idea doesnt matter. Yeah, whatever. I just wanted to make a useless item useful in some way and thought since it doesnt have a real purpose now, i can give it one whilte asking for more ideas. Kinda backfired.

I dont get why your picture of "hero" is so connected to your view of "selflessness" - your kind actions have the only risk that the guy who you help shoots you. Your food, your drinks, your medical assistance is worth nothing, since there is no lack of it. You just take care that somebodys bag becomes bit quicker full than usual. Thats not heroic. I agree with you on the point of saving from infected or bandits. THIS is real danger. And here are we again on the point of "protection" - if dropping a flare somewhere indicates that a player can skip this building to save time and/or save his life and/or scare off bandits, its worth WAY more than your rag. Which is essentially nothing, since the only player needing food are fresh spawns, and well, it doesnt really matter if they die. Taking care of the good folks running around for a longer while as good as possible is worth way more.

a real hero doesnt just help people. He protects them - if i enter a highly dangerous building and drop a flare signaling everybody that this building right now is not worth it, it may save lifes. Running around throwing food at people doesnt help neither - like anybody will have a lack of food. Maybe at the coast because you start at "hungry", but in the end, it is "cute" at best, not really changing anything. protecting lifes is what makes the difference. And this is one step. Running around throwing stuff at people of which is plenty is not sacrificial at all.

In every case it means "you better not enter" right? So its excactly what i suggest.

Why not both? oO

what? The stuff you are listing is like not heroish. Its like "normal-ish". Only because most people in DayZ are assholes doesnt mean acting like a decent human being suddenly becomes heroish. And dropping flares in supermarkets or hospitals or whatever is showing people that they dont need to try ot get into the building, which are usually places where people wait for you and shoot you.

Ive started carrying road flares with me, and every time i loot a dangerous place i leave a road flare behind, so everyone knows somebody has been there short ago - I appreaciate more tipps to make this world a better place for others :3

well, even though you might be right, i have never played the mod. I only remember installing it, running away from a zombie for like 30 minutes and just deinstalling again. The SA at least gave me a chance to do something (i "only" have like 60 hours of gameplay) - And actually i dont think it would be a good idea to differ the "good" from the "bad" guys on first glimpse. I WOULD support a kind of equipment thats better for bandits and stuff and kinds of equipment better for others,so it would make sense to see it on how they look like. But having a giant icon floating over their heads "BAD GUY" sounds a bit anticlimatic.

I have killed 1 guy solely for equipment once. He was pretty well equipped but for some reason he 1) didnt shoot me and 2) he didnt talk neither, but he crept around me for a while. Then i found a sickle and chased him down and killed him. He didnt even fight me back, just ran away, even though i saw he had better melee weapons, and later found out he had ammo for his ranged weapons - but got him in the end. Half is stuff was ruined, and the feeling of killing somebody who had no intention in harming me was horrible. Thought to myself never doing it again. Later that round i saw somebody camping the door of a house i looted, so i went out the backdoor, flanked and killed him, that felt way better, he was a threat, and his bags were full of human flesh (wtf) - but he was round about as bad as i am, so the fight took several minutes and was pretty even. (Didnt loot him though, dont want to touch the stuff of somebody carrying human flesh) - Im alwas willing to take a hit to talk to somebody, but i have learned that people camping to wait for me coming out or down of something generally dont awnser when talked to, even offering the stuff i have and they could want without the danger of ruining them.

When i run around i meet many nice people and i actually never got really betrayed by somebody. Almost everyone is open hostile or friendly. Im not the best sneaker, i stay close to the streets, and dont hide way too much. It would be no problem for me to get punished by it by people who are round about as equipped as i am and could use the stuff i have - but most of the time it is a ridiculous overkill and i just know that everything i carry (mby beside 1 stack of ammo) goes to waste. I can only imagine that its mostly done by people who run away when they see an enemy equally equipped, and want to feel a bit better by killing the easy prey.

What is the point in sneaking up to a low-midgear guy just looting around in a village and AK him down? Food/drinks are no problem in this game. Does the game become too boring for you once you geared up? Is hunting people who have nothing you actually need the ultimate lategame in DayZ? I just dont get it. Do you get off by feeling superior? - People who get close to you and somewhat pose a threat is something i can understand. But being at an airport or another place for weapons and just shoot everybody even though there is plenty of everything for everybody is just something i cant understand. I just imagine that the number of zombies and their strength needs to be way improved, so people dont get bored so easily and just mess around without good reason. If you play this just for shooting people i strongly suggest switching to call of duty or counterstrike.

So i played another round of DayZ and everything went really well. At some point i decided heading north and trying to locate the national airport. On the way there i met couple fellow player - a sniper, heading the same way, we talked and decided not to shoot another. However, he said i should go in front of him, for safety. I did as told, but after a while i lost him and didnt find him again. Later in some castle ruins i met another one, far less equiped than me, and i said "stay cool", and again wie talked, walked for a bit, and split up. In the next Town we met again, he put his weapon away, i did so with mine, and he walked away again. I considered we would be done and kept looting, until he was suddenly with a shotgun right behind me and shot me down. Am i supposed to kill anybody, no matter how minor the threat is? Is it 100% forbidden to let anybody live who COULD have better equip than me? Or in that case, even kill those who have less equipment? It is kind of retarded, it really is. The last thing in a postapocalyptic scenario would be "i shoot everybody on sight", the zombies need to be way more dangerous. Because right now, they are 100% not enough of a threat to let people seriously consider temporarily teaming up.

Right now i have nobody to play it with. In another 5 hours of gameplay (i tried it again, was able to get myself another 5 drinks + being high hydrated), and the only thing that happend that i suddenly stood behind somebody. He was in a building and i was in the door. My headset was at the side so i wrote "hey", but he was heavily geared thats why i moved out again. He hid, and i have not seen him again.

i have decided that i will probably give the game another shot when its released. Because of sloppy movement i dropped ~2 meter, usually for somebody fit enough to survive the zombie apocalypse, this shouldnt be a problem. But it destroyed my shoes, everything in my trousers (what were 5 drinks and a canned bacon) and broke my legs. I was lucky enough to have a morphine auto injection, but it looks like im not fit for the alpha. Or maybe i will keep on playing when i can get past the shock of losing 5 drinks. Who knows.
