Thanks everyone for the responses. Hmm so it is server specific? I always thought the "public hive" servers were persistent across them. Meaning if I dropped that note on Server X, logged of, then came back on but on Server Y, both being public hives, then that note should still be there?

So I guess this must be what a server reset looks like when it repopulates the loot?? It was like black friday shopping at the NWAF LOL ... Care for a Makarov ... or 4??? LOL I feel sorry for any of the others that decided to hit up the SWAF first LOL ...

So playing again last night in Elektro, I found the same sort of loot bonanza again in both fire stations. Same sort of stuff in the first post I made. And just the same, a lot of other places were completely barren of loot. It would be nice though if it wasn't so much useless stuff like sewing kits and portable stoves.

Whenever I play I have an online map of Chernos (I like the iSurvive one I think it is) on one screen while I've got the game on another. This has worked REALLY well for me even though I need to alt-tab to zoom or change the view on the online map. I know there are in-game maps that you can even combine to form a complete map. I also know that you can annotate the in-game map. But other than this, is there any advantages to the in-game map at all? If anything, it certainly takes up precious cargo space. (And I know not everyone rocks dual monitors but you can just as easily throw up the online map on your smart phone or tablet.)

That sounds unbelievably cool. And I agree with the assertion that more aggressive and numerous zombies could serve to deter KOS'ing. If anything, the zeds could be used as a tactical tool in a fight rather than simply being a nuisance which is pretty much what they are now especially once you've got your axe or sledgehammer dialed in. I had 4 come at me single file spaced out just enough for me to reset my axe swing. 4 swings,4 dead zeds ... there's no way I'm actually that good lol.

Uh ... yea ... so this epoch server thingy ... just for the sake of education and academia of course ... how do I get to it? LOL jk.

So THAT was YOU!!!! LOL jk I always wonder when posting these stories that I'll get a response like that lol. Actually I just had a similar experience recently at the NWAF. But nowhere near the kind of good stuff you saw. In fact, most of the stuff I found were lame like fire extinguishers and crow bars. At most, I saw a few rifles (SKS, Blaze, Sporter) at the barracks. Tons of Makarav (sp?) pistols. But that's it. Not even a single Mosin. And worse, not even any ammo that fit the guns I was carrying. Great story thanks for sharing it and pics.

LOL!!!! That reminds me of the time 3 guys popped out of nowhere all with gas masks with their M4s pointed at my face going "ARE YOU FRIENDLY!!!!" LOL. Like I was gonna say, yes I am would you like to share some beans??? I drew my little toy revolver and got shot in the face.

Good call. I admit my alt-tabbing to get to the offline map sometimes throws my autorun feature off. (Quite literally, it falls off lol.)

Really good point about still being able to see the game while you look at the map!!! SO MANY times I lost track of time looking at the map, tab back to the game, only to find I'm surrounded by zeds having their way with me LOL!!!! You, sir (or madam), are a bigger DayZ person than I ever will be. Dude, I still manage to get lost while USING the map!!!!! Often it's because I wander away from sight of the road and end up back on a different road without realizing it. It can suck really bad.

So this is a bug then? And again, really, there was not WOW loot. At best, I saw a couple SKS's in the barracks and the 4 pistols at the same place that I posted above. And as I mentioned, of ALL the ammo everywhere, NONE fit the guns I was already carrying lol. And oddly, notice that the SWAF (last couple of pics) was practically barren!!!

Thats a really good point, Gecko, and I would tend to agree that using offline maps is somewhat cheating. Caboose brings up a good point too about guides but I can see how using a map can be construed as cheating. I'll still use it anyway lol. I do wish iSurvive did a better job with the icons since it covers up a lot of the town name. You can hide the icons but then you lose a lot of the infos on the town. Now if anything, I'd consider that info an unfair advantage since you already know piano house coming up on the left, police station up the street there, etc etc. I do notice though that while these online maps are ridiculously accurate down to a patch of shrubbery or random rock formation, I'm pretty sure the railroads relative to the street roads are sometimes off or switched.

LOL!!!! I'm still in the running around part. I've combed a good pat of western Cherno and have yet to spot a crash site. I dont try to time server restarts though ... but frankly, at this point I don't even care if there's loot at the site, I just want to find a damn crash site LOL.

Even with ponds, dont you need to purify the water first? I've been loading up on purification tablets like its going out of style. They just take so friggin long to cure thirst when all of you've got is a water bottle. At one point, I was hydrating at a pond and some dude was going nuts with his carbine trying to off some zed ... ONE friggin zed. Wow what an awful shot that guy. Just glad he didn't spot me drinking cos I would've been shot at prolly.

Ok ok ... not sure what "KOS" stands for but I'm pretty sure I know. What I like about DayZ is it really gets at your human nature. I was P.O.'ed to all hell after getting shot in the face and I was still VERY P.O.'ed when I made the post above. But by the time I found my sniper spot with the Mosin, I was calm again. Heck, I even spotted a semi bambi with obligatory motor cycle helmet and useless baseball bat. I was about to off him but then I saw like 4 zeds converge on him!! Then 2 more LOL!!!!! I started picking off the zeds instead. Just when I thought I was going to get Hero Of The Day status, the semi bambi friggin collapsed!!!! I finished off the rest and ran to him to see if he still had a pulse and maybe gaurd his body while he recovered ... but then I accidentally pressed HIDE BODY instead. I'm sorry random semi bambi guy. I was the kitted out dude hovering over you in the green chernos security beret trying to gaurd your body. Sorry I accidentally buried you instead bro.

Yea so after I got all kitted out and made this post, I went back online ... not 10 minutes later, some A-HOLE decided to say "hi" then shoot me in my face. It's cool, I got a Mosin with stabilizier and scope. Even gave it a cool paint job and got like 60 of the nato rounds ... Imma go hunt anyone now LOL.

Yea I was thinking it had something to do with the update. So we basically traded water from wells and getting hungry and more thirsty faster for more pristine loot and servers that puke loot all over NWAF. Good trade. LOL
