Can i stick my head in here ;) Can we please not have different colours or highlights or whatever when you guys are in official duty mod status v 'mere mortal' forum mode.. i mean c'mon. You are in blue, dayz forum team stated as well as a mod team link at the bottom of the forums...the forum mods stand out quite clearly and i am sure more, and not less users, know when you are simply being part of a discussion as opposed to citing rules and regs or putting out fires. Nothing worse than a sterile forum where a mod is simply a mod. All of the good thriving forums with decent discussion have mods that actually have opinions and are part of the community, ones that do not seem above and beyond or out of reach of even a first time poster. Honestly to me..yes..imo.. the need for colours or whatver else when stating an official stance by a mod seems like something we would possibly need if we were all 10 years old.

Has there been any mention of the ability to pack tents regardless of being killed or being able to pack and move someone else's tent ? Seems silly that you can only lay and move a tent until death...and that you cannot move a tent you find.

Pretty cool that $ony are taking that much of an interest in day$ though. The main thing is that everything so far is pc and everything for a while yet will be pc oriented.

Coastal towns have a lot more bandits than the airfield, unfortunately there is always the patient sniper waiting to scratch another notch in his stock up there on most servers. One of my more recent visits i was bandaging a guy in between the hangars who was bleeding and knocked out by zeds when another guy, possibly his mate came around the corner and sawed me too death. I find sitting in an obscure spot and waiting for the snipers to reveal themselves by taking out other players who have run all the way up to be most rewarding.

^ I don't see why it would not work on a console, you do not need many of the arma controls for DayZ. Clearly it is a pc game being ported to console this time around so thats a one up for us pc purists :) Plus it will introduce DayZ and its style to a whole new bunch of gamers which can be a good thing.

I quite often play with a few other people and we have our pcs all set up in the same room. Maybe we should wear blinders. In communist gaming there is no TS. Everyone slap yourself twice and delete TS, the motherland needs us.

TS. Mirc, Skype etc..out of game comms have been around since the 90's...its a part of gaming basically. Like it or hate it but it is not going away because some think it is 'cheating' . :) I even introduced one guy to dayz via phone whilst in game because his skype/ts was terrible when trying to play as well. When i game with my partner we are on ts or skype..we are definitely not going to sit down and not speak until we see each other in game. To me Its like 3dp, i dislike it as it has advantages over 1st but i do not use it, not because i am too stubborn, i simply do not like the view it gives me. Same with my partner, but it is pretty much an accepted part of most games.

Just having a go at ya, don't take it as a stab in the eye, written word is generally average when it comes to getting emotions/ the feel of the content across ..and the pc was clearly a desktop ;) . From years of pc gaming i have learnt to never throw money at upgrades before an actual game release. Every dev/ game company swears that there game will run fine or better on current or older gear. Been caught in the preupgrade trap many times and have found that you can generally run most current games on two year old gear. Swell is just well..swell sweetie ;) Over here (Oz) swell is a word we more use if we want to have a jibe at someone.. 'Thats a swell set of dotted socks you have on there darling.'

With the mod as it currently stands with so many glitches , chances of scriptkiddie death i think ts is the least of any worries. Rocket may have got rid of direct on pub servers but he then endorses metagaming. TS and its ilk have been around for what..since the 90's ? I know since i have been gaming that TS has been a mainstay, we used mirc back in the day before TS became popular. Your fighting a hopeless battle Applejaxc and iegle. I know when we were playing old flying sims in that you could not voice communicate in half of the WWII fighters we were crating around in and nobody ever whined about the use of TS...and the hard core flight sim guys would eat this forum for a light snack regards realism in games ;) Some things have to go by the wayside in gaming as there also has to be a fun factor ..like 3dp (as much as i dislike that) . Also like tweaking graphics settings and losing the detail in trees and enviroment so one can see other players better.Specific server settings are the only way to get what a certain player prefers. Re teaming up - Already mentioned..calling out your location correctly, so many times you hear..'A PLAYER!! OVER THERE!!! BY THE TREES !!... :facepalm: and always know where you all are, friendly fire is annoying.

I have a very similar rig , i5 @ 3.33, budget gb mobo h55m ud2h 9from memory) 4 gb ram win 32, gtx560ti 1gb. 3Tb black HDD's with win and games on one drive, all shit on others. Oc'ing did sfa in game (4.1 ghz) so i reset it back to factory specs. I used to run the game maxed out but realised i was shooting myself in the foot because i was hiding under all of these trees and in bushes i could easily be seen in when mostly everyone else was on medium of low settings so i did the disable arma trees and grass option and backed off a few settings to put myself back on a level playing field. Seemed to give me a slight bit more fluidity but without benchmarking it is hard to be specific. SSD and possibly win64 is my next upgrade but waiting on the SA before i worry about throwing any dollars away. Game plays fine with a few hiccups here and there but i see that when i watch vids of guys with rigs that far exceed mine. Plays everything else i chuck at it flawlessly so like i said, i aint pissing in the wind to try and scrape 2 or 3 more fps..and still have the occasional bog down in cities and other places. One of mates plays with an i7 , gtx680 win64 16 gb ram and side by side you can not tell the difference in looks , he still gets random stutters, frame drops in cities etc.

Anybody bust my bottle of Jacks and shit gonna get real.
