Ok cool , thanks :) She just got back to me..steam redownloaded the whole install again so she is not a happy camper :) she has to wait until the 21st to have any net available again at a speed faster than dial up. She officially hates Steam..welcome to the list :D

Just wondering, to me it sounded like - just came up with that profile and exit screen - that she needed to make a profile first?

Ok this is what i got from her this morning :) I just dragged Arma and ArmaOA folders out of the steam apps folder onto desktop, so there were no files. Not sure if that is classed as the AppData, cause I couldn’t find an a file called that and looked it up on net and they said it wasn’t actually a file. So did I do it right? They are the only folders I thought would make any difference, and when I checked after I did the verify, all the files were back there, so must be the right way. If not, I dunno where to go find the AppData… verify’d it overnight, went into both Arma and ArmaOA through steam this morn, then had to update in Commander, then tried to go into a 1.8 server, but didn’t even go to logby, just came up with that profile and exit screen…? Have another look tonight I guess…hmmm

Non stop loot circles at the 'zino mil tents will get you an M14 within a couple of minutes at worst, if one hasn't already spawned by the time you start ;) Something is hugely wrong with the loot respawn there :huh:

Have been able to loot the mil tents at Bere non stop in a four tent circle loot run. Takes about 5 minutes to get a czech/coyote , m14 aim, 8000 tins of food and drink, entrenching tool, m4a3cco and stanags and then get away all geared up and go sleep in the forest. Next guy that came along must have nearly died when he saw how much shit i left on the ground outside all of the tent openings :D

For some reason my crafting window works now..keep finding heaps of electronic scrap, rags, duct tape and wipes but no string or leaves. Decided not to waste my time picking up the new items and just resorted to my normal loot until either SA or the next patch sorts a lot more :)

Enjoy your noobie time Toybasher, it really is were the best fun is :) Finding out how it all works by making mistakes is frustrating sometimes but once you get on top of it, it is rewarding :) Learn the basics and don't worry about getting your first kill in or trying to be a 'boss', travel around the map and check things out, get your bearings and don't get stuck in the 'Cherno and Elektro' are the only places on the map trap'. It is glitchey, you will lose shit for no reason, you will die from a rock or something random for no reason, you will get your ass handed to you by snipers, kos types and 'friendlies'. Just get out in the Chernarus world and explore and learn, grab some zeds and then run through a forest and work out what makes them lose track of you. (hint..zig zag through the big fir trees) Check backpack slots before putting items in. Never go anywhere without Morphine, bandage and painkillers. Knife, hatchet and matches are your best friend. Gawd i wish i could start again and have the same problems :D

Ok all cool :) and yes it is through steam. Will report back tomorrow on how she went. Fingers arms legs and eyebrows crossed.

So that will just replace the app data then and not download the entire install ? I only say this because she is on a plan that only allows 8 gb per month :) When we did her full reinstall (twice now) we did it on the last day of the month so it still allows high speed and does not cap it until 12.00. So even though she had under a gig left she can grab that 17gig before it rolls ;) . Then of course the month rolls over and she gets her 8 gig back.

Yes i know lol :) Seems a lot of people still do by reading the long running thread above as well :) It makes no sense seeing as how she was fine and then by running a 1.8 update through commander it went blaaaaaagh.

My partner has the same. mostly annoying. Checked all of files against each other, reinstalled ..yadda yadda yadda. nil. BUMP.
