Luckily enough my other half likes a good pc game, we went through Crysis and Crysis 2 death for death and she has played a bit of IL2 and some other simulators. She now has her first char in dayZ and has survived her first big journey. We started at Electro , crusied around until we a mak and a m1911 and some general items. I took her up to Cherno hitting a few barns on the way then into the industrial building and Cherno proper. Hit the Hospital the apartments and the tents. Left Cherno with one czech and a winchester, map, compass, matches, knife, watch, toolkit, entrapment tool, plenty of bloodpacks and morph. Headed to Balota , scored an akm for her plus some binocs. Being geared up enough we started the journey up to the the NW field. I showed her a couple of places on the way, Zelenogorsk, Green mountain and the deer stands. Stopped at a few ponds and refilled bottles, killed some animals and showed her how to gut and cook meat. Never saw a heli wreck or any other players in the open country or the forests. Skipped Stary as i generally get sniped there and wanted us to make the airfield. Coming at the field from the South we hit the bottom barracks , had to kill a couple of zeds which made me paranoid, i kept telling her this was where we would probably die so she was on edge. Grapped an Alice and a Coyote in the Barracks plus i upgunned to an ak74. We binoc'd the hangars and surrounding treeline for a while and eneded up coming into the hangars form the treeline behind, proning all the way beside the first hangar waiting for a sniper to open up. Entered the first hangar, couple of mags for her AKM and nothing else. Proned along to two more hangars and still no more goodies. Coming in between the third and fourth hangar , crouching now. CRACK CRACK! Shit ! sniper! I yelled at her to run! Two more shots , i saw them hitting the hangar beside me just as i made it in. She tucked in one corner and i tucked in the other. Two zeds ran in as well so we plugged them and stayed right in the corner covering each other and just not moving. There was and M14 sitting next to her but just out of reach as she could not get to it without being exposed. I told her we were going to make a run out her side, full boss run down in between the hangars and out into the forest behind the hangar out of his view. I said make sure you zig zag a bit a bit and dont stop. First we both threw a smoke out onto the runway hoping to maybe divert the sniper or block a bit of his view..then we pissbolted around the corner ..halfway down the hangar before we heard another shot crack out, he was not on the ball or had thought we logged and was not looking at the hangar. So we made it out into the forest without getting hit ..adrenaline was pumping and we did not stop until we were at the far edge.of the forest.Yes, we made it! Killed a boar in celebration and had a cook out. We trekked it up to Berezino via Dark Castle and the NE airfield. Scored a bicycle near the airfield and did some wheelies and circle work on it, pretty amusing little thing ,,crazy downhill fun. Left it propped on a fence near the airfield then came upon an ATV near a shack about 3 ks south of the airfield. Talk about excited lol! We both jumped on..drove for about 20 seconds and no fuel..booo. Cruised into Berezino and topped up at the hospital with morph and blood, i had transfused her three times all up from zed attacks in our journey and she had done me a couple , she had nearly died once getting down to 3000 with broken legs , we were both a bit panicky while i was shooting the zeds off her in the dark that were having a munch. Had to drag her away into the bushes while she was unconscious. So we are currently logged off at the top of the appartments in Berzino intending to check out the military tents next session and make our way down the coast back to our start point. I think all up we did about 18 hours of solid gamplay in four four hour sessions from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. No rushing, just journeying and checking everything out. The server we were on had between 15-40 people on it depending on the time and i reckon we only saw about 6 all up. good times :) just lucky that NW airfield sniper was a bad shot.

Would be a cool campanion and something to protect. Wild dogs would be cool too..there would have to be a heap of dogs that would have survived.

When she was down and being eaten she was screamin..in and out of game :D I was definitely in the doghouse if i din't get her fixed lol. I pretty much take point when coming into a dangerous area but i have made her jump in front a few times so she doesnt feel like she is just playing follow the leader, she is more comfortable covering my six than being on point though so we are keeping that strat for a while. Plus she is a pretty jumpy excitable shot, i tell her..dont worry if you use a whole mag..just take down whatever you are shooting at ! Did not want to risk it..we were already pretty edgy. We felt like the guy would have had the gun scoped the whole time waiting for us to make a move on it. She wanted to move on it but i told her no, it was too exposed. Since we had not takenit and were in the hangar about 3 or so minutes before we threw our smoke out we were guessing the sniper assumed we had logged so we had a chance. In that way the alt f4 crew may have actually helped us lol. Caught him off guard by actually playing properly ;)

Have only killed three people in two months, definitely not a shoot on sight person. Will observe , sometimes chat and hook up for a wander with someone for a while, try and help out ungeared players if i can. If i see someone all geared i wont kill them and take their gear, i prefer to get my own.

Decor. Hatchet will be found like other loot. Generally there is about 19 kabillion per map. :)

I cannot go into a forest without seeing a couple of Boars. Running between Cherno and Elektro you should see at least 1 goat if not more..as well as a few rabbits..b wary of the rabbits. Once i have matches i do not worry about picking up tinned food because you can always find an animal to slay in the fields, On the way up North i can get more steaks than i will ever eat. You are clearly just having an unlucky run :)

I have helped a few new spawners get geared up in Cherno and been rewarded by not being shot when i directed them to a gun. True story :) One guy ended up following me around like a lost puppy dog after he was geared up and i had to lose him in the hills when he kept following me. Last i saw of him he was doing 360's in the forest looking for me. Poor bastid.. life is hard in Chernarus, and lessons are brutal :)

It has been stated many times that you will not be banned for picking up a hacked weapon, only for hacking them in. I have seen a couple with people i have killed , i simply hide the body and their gear so no one can come along and get it, i couldnt be bothered playing with weapons that are not meant to be in game, i will leave that for the pretend players. Check the dayz wiki for a weapon guide. after a little while of playing you will become familiar with what is in game :)

You should do the singleplayer tutorial missions so you can get familiar with how your gear works, how to move/run/crouch/prone etc, how to use the weapons/reload/aim/sight/zoom etc. Once you get comfortable with how the arma gui works (it is quite easy once you do the turorials) then you can change your keys to where you are comfortable. I have all of my keys based around the arrows so i am not searching the keyboard when in a tight spot..The four arrows are for moving , numpad 0 is crouch, right ctrl is stand up, end key is vault, numpad 1 is prone, right shift is 2x run, page up and page down are zeroing, enter is open doors, - near numpad is wide view. Right click on mouse is run/ walk.
