Logged in, 30 people in game, vet server. My plan was to simply get across too Skalisty and log out where our group would meet up for tomorrow nights session. Being Dayz and being the proud owner of a can of Dew, shit was to go six ways from Sunday very quickly. I started heading down the hill just on the mainland opposite Skalisty, heard some shots in the distance so i proned and reversed under a tree to have a look around. Spotted a guy shooting down the road, probably at zeds seeing as how his primary was shouldered and he was using a mak. Instakilled by the tree. Fuck the Dew. New plan, get to mydead dude and get that fucking Dew. Spawn at Komarovo, run to small port buildings and score an axe. Head for the military/hospital camp near Balota..this is where the fun starts. I cruise up to the outside of the wire and start axing zeds , this wookie dude pops up with an m4a1/a3 ? cco and says hi, i wait for the shot but nothing, he pops the zeds, i say thanks then he jumps the wall and bandages me. Sweet. I vault in and he says here take this, i see mags on the ground so pick up, its an m9 sd. Cool as, i say thanks and then he says , can you see it, i see nothing, say no, thinking he must have dropped something else, food or bandages or whatever. Then he says..can you see the box ? I think great..then zap. Tele'd . water. Respawn at Komarovo. Bandit runs past me so i give chase saying hey dude..where are you in such a rush to ? I look to my right and see another guy with an axe, survivor gear on. He takes out some zeds and says g'day.. the bandit then runs up and is saying 'kill me man..kill me ! '. Axe guy is trying to kill another zed when he swipes the bandit by mistake. He is like 'shit!' I laugh and tell him he wanted to die so its all good. I ask if i can hang with him and we run together chatting for a bit, he tells me he is from Maryland, we talk about duping and thank fuck the tents are working now and whatnot. We head in to find me some axe action , which i find in a port building , we take out some zeds and head outside then run into another bandit then Camo guy immediately after.. Camo guy being gunned up takes out our increasing zed problem.. i bandage and we all head out for Balota, Bandit boy still unarmed, possibly a good thing. I am marvelling at the fact we are all running together and rather enjoying myself lol. Camo guy keeps looking suspiciously over his shoulder at my axe and i cannot help but laugh a little bit at our weird little coastal group. We make the outskirts of Balota... ..and i am Mike Tyson'd , Camo man comes to the rescue and bandages, over direct its a bit panicky but very efficient and i am epi penned and on my feet in no time. We check everywhere, axe man scores an akm but i dont think he gets any ammo, hangars are empty. Bandit boy is asking for an axe..but the zeds attack again so axeman has no time to drop it , i manage to bandage Bandit boy who is hit and bleeding, Camo man takes out the zeds. Notice bandit boy is now in survivor suit so he must have penned me ? Just as we all group up shots ring out , full auto pings all around us and we group behind a trashed vehicle.. clearly the shooter has not met Camo man and does not know rule 1..don't fuck with Camo man. I volunteer to run out as bait and sprint into the open, shots are exchanged.. He now understands rule 1. I score a mak and 5 mags and we head for the tents. Camo man and axe man spot a dude in the distance down the road, then another with him. We hold our ground and wait..start hearing 'friendly incoming..friendly incoming' .. Ok, looks like our group is either getting bigger or its gonna be a shoot out, they run up and stop in he middle of our group..another bandit and a weird white skinned dude. Then it happens.. and of course.. So the group is dispersed to all spawn points of the coast, boo. I end up at Elektro and see a guy running with a flashlight in hand , zeds on his tail, he sees me and says ' follow me..i am detaining you, be warned.. i have a flashlight !' i say 'ok man, just be careful with that thing ! ' and we run into the church. Apparently i am bleeding, he swears he is not giving me fellatio and drops down and bandages. I tell him there is what appears to be a satchel charge placed behind him.. Looking around we notice charges in every corner so we gtfo. I shout out a thanks and head for Cherno looking for any sign of Axeman, Camo man and Bandit boy . On the outskirts i hear a heli so run in to investigate, a chopper is doing laps of the city and i can hear machine gun fire. I see what may possibly be Bandit boy ahead so i run up to him, he has an lmg of some sort and is popping rounds at the chopper..he says ' hi again dude, i dont want these guys plopping any more crates around as the server is overloaded with weapons ' i just hang back and watch the action.. Then another bandit pops in and starts saying to Bandit boy..what are you doing man ? why are you doing this ? Bandit boy keeps shooting at the chopper.. and inevitably.. Respawn at Cherno .. Grab the only supplies i will more than likely need.. hit the firestation and see what may possibly be an old friend of mine.. and Bandit boy ? I manage to grab a g17 in the station and get an m1911 plus ammo at the shops and then an axe on the outskirts. I head out to attempt to get to my original dead body and that can of Dew. Spot a running along the beach and call out to him, he is hesitant and keeps his distance, damn axe. I stash my axe and tell him i have a gun he can use if he wants, then place it down on the road with three mags and back off. He grabs it then salutes, i give him a quick salute in return and we head off in opposite directions. Then boo.. So stuff knows what that is ..overhacked server lol ? Can't know, but people were being kicked constantly as well as 10-15 deaths at a time popping up at a time. The 15-20 minutes us four different skinned chars cruised together was pretty cool and so was only being shot at by one other guy the whole time, felt like it was many many months ago until the scriptees ruined the fun. Now, i wonder if i can rejoin and get my death dealing Dew.

Apocalypse..right now. and also..just then. I am thinking i may have to lay my serious dude to rest for a while and just run around with an axe and med stuff and see how long i can survive the madness.

Cheers all :) was a good run even though i lost my 10 or so day old dude to the tree of pain. The dog was one of the scriptees, he said 'watch this i'm a dog ...woof !' then proceeded to run around like dogs do when the owner just gets home and they go all bat crazy and shit. Seemed not one of the scriptees liked it when you either did not take something from their 'gift' box or shot at their toys. I found my 'flashlight detainee fellatio bandager' later when i rejoined but unfortunately he was dead just outside of the church, right next to one of my dead bodies where i had never been and with gear on me i never even had. I even supped on a pepsi..so it was a strange night ;)

Have all of the parts ready to go , have done laps of the map in several different servers (7) and cannot find where the damn thing has been hidden, clearly it is not at it's spawn point at Skalisty. Anyone want to divulge some hiding spots ? Our plan was to use it to spot vehicles and move them close to the coast so some new spawns can get wheeled up. And of course crash in a fiery death from the sky.

Ours are saving grandly finally. Pitch, wait a couple of minutes then put gear in, wait a few more minutes then save. So far we have saved tents in a tree trunk base, across a small rock wall, in the open, side by side to each other and on a slope. They are working..like a tent :) Only tent that did not save items was on a slope, under a tree and partly in a rock, obviously a bad combo.

Brilliant :D The idea for sure and without arma as a base Dayz would not have been the resounding success it has been. Glitches and bugs included. Long story, much alcohol, long nights, bleeding eyes. Tried it several times, even the wov version, it just does not like me :)

One thing i have noticed when i have jumped in (oa) a few times is that a lot of the standard missions have seemed broken, fail to load , throw up errors or i cannot do what the mission asks because the item i need (to move on in the mission or part of the mission/training) is not in the ammo crate etc. I don't know if it is because of the dayz mod , beta patches changing the standard missions or whatever else ? atm i could not really be bothered finding out though as i dont particularly feel like mucking around with fixing games and all that can go with the fucking around of it. I just want to jump in and have fun. Modding , bughunting and fixing can really drain the fun of games after x amount of years sitting in front of a pc looking at files/code and editors. Dayz has been a breath of frsh air and i am glad of it.

Boats..boats everywhere. I am turning into a fisherman since 2.6. Have been overflown by a heli in 2.6 , heading out to sea s/e of Elektro so they must be a goer, plus every server we have jumped into having a look had tents with all of the parts waiting at the Skalisty spawn. Maybe they are all waiting in vain or they are already out and about and have back up parts, dunno. We have not actually had any road transport since 2.6 now either come to think of it, just the pbx and that really ....fast.....white... thing..

Nice answer, i thought you were guy talking about people being ignorant ? How about helping out and maybe a few pointers for Brites instead of coming across in the same way as the guy he is talking about. Or you could just reinforce his view. Oh wait..you just did.

Pretty damn sure that everyone realised that Dayz is simply a mod built on top of Arma. Also fairly sure a lot have tried it out without needing to be told they are ignorant. 100 % sure that everyone is not bored with Dayz. The whole arma v dayz bullshit is boring already. Dayz is a mod, people like it, they brought th epack for it.. who gives a flying atv ? I brought arma back in the day, it ran like snot even after months of fuckassing around so i shelved it with several other games, doomed to the cupboard of blackness in my room. Most of my games are s i m u l a t o r s . Woop fukn woop. Arma is one of them that was buggy and annoying because it showed a fuckton of promise. BoB also lives in my cupboard for the same reason and it has the best aerial ai you will ever see in a combat simulation, bar none. I thrive on simulations and hardcore and all that bs..but i am here for Dayz (funnily enough) not arma even though i fuck around in the editor a bit. If i want to know more about arma and get right into it, i would be at BI or many of the other arma forums looking at in depth, and not here. The way you come across reeks of bullshit elitism Goldeen. But thanks for letting everyone know that dayz is a mod built on top of arma. And that we should give it a go. That was awesome.

I though that too, its something that is not directly involved with the game and time consuming for a small dev team. Just would be cool and possibly something unique for a dev to appear in a scene about his game , plus.. he should have to eat the beanz :) I feel the same about the guns, one on shoulder and one in hand is ok, as50's and such in backpack and the ability to switch out in 2 seconds is just ridiculous :) Atm i have two dmr's in my pack (waiting to give one back to my partner who died) and m14 aim in hand. Will be quite happy if standalone drops the gun quantity that can be carried.

Definitely a scene included along those lines, beanz are the king of the game :) I was just putting forward a quick story that covered a lot of the aspects of dayz, finding your pack, getting gear,zed chase, bandaging, kos bandits, heroes. I had your exact scene in mind when i did the Dew thing in the church :) You could easily put all of that that into a 1 minute 30 second -2 minute opening scene. :) It is not meant to be a cut scene, just an initial install opening to the game, something you can choose to watch or skip. The bandit with the guns (you do know you can carry three primarys ? You just cannot see the ones in your pack obviously. That scene is to show someone fully geared up whereas Rocket is initially a new spawn with nothing. He shouts friendly as it is his first spawn = inexperienced and scared. The hero salutes to show the side the hero is meant to portray and what Rocket as a noob may one day become. I don't see why we could not carry a scoped gun on one shoulder and a close in assault type weapon in our hand, three primarys as it is now is a bit of overkill though i think.

I imagine the standalone will be hi res as standard.

I would be happy if he included a small video file with every game shipped. It should show Rocket sprinting down a beach with a Coyote full of beans , 1 fuel drum , morphine , water bottle , tent and bloodpacks. 4 dmr mags and 4 stangs on him plus a full stash of .45 ammo A dmr and m16 acog hanging off his shoulders, revolver in his holster and axe in hand. Toolbox, flashlight,binocs,gps,nvgs,matches, knife and entrenching tool all hanging off his toolbelt. Directly behind him will be a Zed train from Kamyshovo. After axing 15 zeds on the beach , bandaging and using morphine he will refuel and take an 11 mph boat ride to Skalisty. Pitch a tent on a slope in a grove of fir trees, start a fire, swill some Dew and eat a can of beans..then look at the camera and say..' Hi...i'm Rocket..and this is Dayz ! '

I palyed an african american looking guy for a few days but he ran too slow., i put this down to the fact that they modelled his junk as well. I also got sick of my partner always trying to drag me behind barns and into the bushes to see if she could cop a feel, damn harlet.

Defintely only vet or expert servers. Preferably no 3dp or ch. Couple of things of the top of me skull.. Never drink Pepsi. Ever. Sometimes we heat our beans in the fire :D Always kill chickens when we see them so we can have pasta and chicken.
