If you want names that badly then play it that way, extract their name. In the scenario above you could have said..'tell me your name or you die now' ..voila. Reading some threads here, base building etc and i have always thought..fuck that, i would want a tree house. Up off the ground , pull up the wooden/rope ladder and you are fairly safe. Simple to naturally camoflauge. As kids we always had a treehouse and they rock, homebuilt and easy as with minimum tools and equipment needed. Then i thought, fire. They would kill me with fire and eat the freshly heated franks and beans. Fuckers. So the old tin can trip wire trick. Never sleep fitfully with one eye open again. If you are seen whilst out digging for edible forest bugs (yum) and have to make a mad dash back to the tree pad of frivolity then once you are up and in,you will know if they have followed by the jingle jangle of the wire being tripped. Of course animals will be able to trip it so there will be plenty of false warnings, big winds will also affect it. But at least now we will have a use for all of those empty cans, all that is required is wire ,which is all over the place. Even the ability to strip down a farm fence will produce more than enough. You could set several jingle jingle alarms so you could even pinpoint a general n/e/s/w direction. Plane would have to have cowbell or i would not step foot on it. I would also want ghetto style artwork on the bottom of the wings so when you fly over a group of survivors they can read..' Foshizzle in my nizzle bitches' on one wing and ' Wiggerforce 1' on the other. of course i will throw them my spare bling. I like the cripplez deal. I see a bunch of dudes rollin' towards me on wheelchairs with sawn offs..i am the fuk out of that shit and into the forest ! Losing limbs, even fingers or a quick bite to the arm and the associated infection would make people think twice about the whole extremely easy run and gun with zeds deal.

4-12 hours is too short a time for deterioration, especially for people who solo or are together in the same time zone and only a small tight knit group. The deterioration would discourage the time spent it takes to make something 'decent'. If you are going to spend days and days or longer building something then the same mechanic would need to apply to how long it takes to fall apart by enviromental means. Sewers systems would have to be blocked as well. Tunnel digging or fire would be the obvious way to infilitrate without wasting lives on caveman type frontal attacks. All that being said i would stay as far as i possibly could away from any remnants of civilisation in any zed scenario and build a treehouse :)

Good idea, obviously easy to get around by taking a different route to your tent everytime though , and also easy to prewear a track to an empty tent as an ambush. Beanz.

I am hoping (in the future) that forests are beefed up with a more immersive enviroment like climbable ledges , cliff faces, small overhangs you can shelter in, caves etc. Coming across like what you mention at say a tourist type lookout with camping grounds, caravans, winnebagos, tent setups, walking trails etc. Bears..definitely bears.

Dayz Oz- fighting back zeds with sharpened brooms and poky sticks Dayz Us- sitting in a tank , tunes pumping, swilling beer blowing the fuck out of anything that moves while your mates hang off the side with nade launchers and flamethrowers. Bumper sticker on the back..My other tank is an A10.
