  1. Recently purchased DayZ Standalone to play with my friends. Installed fine, optimized it fine and gamed it fin for about 40 hours. Then one day, after logging off after a rather lengthy 6 hour session I noticed that the main menu screen had turned to a shifting blue colour and I could see nothing of the normal background/my character. Too tired to look into it I exited and forgot about it. The next night I start DayZ up and there is the blue screen again, silently ominously shifting shades as if tying to find a shade to match my soon to be changed mood. I log into the server where my friend await the arrival of the last straggler (myself) before setting out for the NE Airfield. Except I don't spawn with them, I'm on a beach under the massive hulk of a shattered freighter. I calmly log out, and re log back in. Same result, the empty shell of the freighter a mocking metaphor for the now hollow expectations that I will ever see my character again. Friends being awesome, quickly abandon their mission to the airfield and set out on a rescue op instead. Needless to say the nights session was much more somber then was expected and far less enjoyable for myself. Nothing I've done can fix the blues menu screen. For short periods it goes away displaying the background and my character, but when it returns it only means one thing, a total loss of my character. It has become such a problem that I'm starting to view playing as pointless due to the fact that I cannot control the loss of my character by this means. My friends have grown tired of rescue ops, and babysitting while I get geared up (again) and have implemented a rule of "Join us when you can" which I can't fault them for. It's not like getting beaten to death by a bunch of zombies, bleeding to death from an untreatable wound, starving, because you cannot find food, or dying from a fall or hypothermia, or being murdered by another player.. These are things you can exercise some control over to prevent, and are the "Normal" ways you die in DAYZ. But to lose a character to a bug, and repeatedly, really steals any fun from the game I'm running steam commands cpucount= 4 and maxmem=8192 and have made no changes to the .cfg file. Please help I really want to enjoy this game again.
