    Changelog Stable - 0.58129488 - 4.2MB Patch Notes

Please stop calling Dayz Standalone a "game", it is a pre-game, where nothing can be considered finsihed. We are experiencing the building blocks of a game, we are in the "hey let's add cool stuff" phase and the devs are STILL trying to appease the jackwagons with fixes. Somehow, we have come to the idea that we are entitled to anything more than a proof of concept build. We paid to be guinea pigs and yet, we still come off as spoiled little pricks like we deserve better.

    Changelog Stable - 0.58129488 - 4.2MB Patch Notes

Yes, they wiped all world items on persistant server. Some are stating that they needed notice, I think that this was covered when they signed up and bought into the testing phase of a non-released game. For those of you who are complaining, stop playing Dayz as if it is a released game, it is a work in progress and you need to plan to lose you stuff in the name of development. Your sniper rifles and your gorka helmets do not matter in the least when it comes to fixing issues. Here is how I think about the situation: I plan on there being a hotfix ever night that will wipe my infomration and I will have to start over from scratch. EVERY NIGHT. This way, when I boot into Dayz, and all of my stuff is there, it means I won, not them. If I wake up and I am a noob somewhere on the coast, then oh well, I hope it was a fix that may get the game out of alpha sooner.

    .58 question

CoD kids... lol I like how people equate the pvp aspect of this game to these run and gun games. .58 will make it even more like a CoD match for you as people will not have to spend all that time looting up. They will just go to their camp, gear up and be right back on the top of hospital in Elektro within 20 -30 minutes, with pristine PvP gear. It does not matter where the loot is, people will go and collect it and bring it back to the coast and stash it. When it comes time for battle, they will never be far away from a full set of gear. Gear that, by the way, the devs could only have introduced for PvP players. All that military gear, the ghillie suits, none of it is for fighting zombies or growing crops. It is for killing another player. Land mines and bear traps are not for the wildlife or the zombies... PvP only. This survival simulation NEEDS the PvP players. The coast will always be the coast. There will always be people on the coast with rifles. Look at the SVD, there are all kinds of those on the coast, someone had to go to the west where they spawn and hop from server to server to get one, and they still come to the coast to shoot some n00bs and other PvP players.

    .58 question

Kitted playes will have bases close to the coast with multiple backpacks, vehicles and storage. They will die in Electro, commit suicide until they spawn close to camp. Once they get to camp, they gear up and pilfer their loot pile a little more and then they will be back in action in a matter of minutes. They will have better gear than they can get at the admin buildings currenlty. Then, the next day, they make their loot run with one of their vehicles and server hop until they get their base restocked. Then they will jump from server to server looking for a fight, because they can get their stuff easier with that system than they currently can. It will just be a vicious cycle... a fun one though (espeically if you find their base and only take enough to keep you going to.) The coast will not be clear.
  5. how would two people in a house communicate without someone outside hearing everything they are saying? It is unrealistic from both angles... I just assume TS and the like are the "private" conversations people have. The in game is for the general communication with other people outside of your party. If there was a party creation system and a speak only to teammates option, then you could cut down on the use of TS. The problem lies with there is only one way to use in game chat, all or nothing.

What are you looking forward to most with 0.58 stable?

The vast majority of playes did not pay to do chores. People play games to live out fantasies, to do things they cannot in real life. I can walk out my door RIGHT NOW and do everything you do in Dayz, legally, except for one thing. Kill. The draw of the game and PVP is that you are actually fighting for something in this game. You are fighting for your life (be it digital) and your stuff. Most other games do not have such a fear of loss as this game does. That is where the adrenaline kicks in, that is why people PvP, to take or defend your life and your stuff. This idea that it is going to get down to having to survive off the land... you will lose the majority of players... and you will lose your game. Without the playerbase, it is not worth it to the Dev's to keep going. The biggest and only threat you will ever face in Dayz is the other player. I am sorry, but the rest is all chores. If the Devs really wanted to make a butt load of money, they should figure out how to relate daily chores in real life to digital rewards in Dayz. Then sell the game to parents, so their kids can play it and still fold the laundry and take out the trash.

PSA: Game development takes a while, but...

I found an article about the game development cycle for certain games. To me it helps put the timeline into perspective. You cannot hold the mod within the development timeline as it was more of a proof of concept, the development date should be August 2012, so we are 3 years into the cycle. Here, check out this list of 30 games and their development cycles. Here are just a few: Fallout 3 - 6 years Halflife 2 - 5 years Resident Evil 4 - 6 years Starcraft II - 7 years Team Fortress 2 - 9 Years S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - 6 Years L.A. Noire - 7 Years Warcraft III - 4 Years I did not add any of the Call of Duty or Battlefield type series as they really are more of a cut and paste, add a few new things development cycle. Not to mention they were not on the list in the article. We gave ~$30 for EARLY ACCESS. We are not shareholders of the company, we have no say it what is going on. We are merely players who have access to see the monthly - bi-monthly changes the devs are making to the game. It is like going to an amusement park, we pay an admission, we like some of the rides and attractions, we dislike others. I guess what I am saying is if you feel you wasted your $30 I am sorry, but at the very least I will get a finished game without having to pay $50 - $60 by the end of the cycle, PLUS I have 1500+ hours of good times with friends.

When they actually add zombies to this game...

As long as doors and walls act as they should, then it is not an issue. Plus shooting someone and getting them to bleed should attract the zeds to them, while you are inside the comfort of a building. If you think Zombies will be breaking down doors, please go hit a heavy wooden door bare handed for a while and tell me how that goes.

When they actually add zombies to this game...

if you are already playing with teammates, then there is no need to bring anyone new into the fold. KOS will still be the norm, even with 1000 zombies per city. The devs keep putting more and more PVP aspects into the game. They are feeding the KOS fire, not trying to put it out. As long as you have to "work" for your stuff, there will always be people like me and my group that want nothing more than to relieve you of said stuff and make your day miserable. I know, I know, "go back to COD!" There is no loss in COD, there is no gain, it is merely spawn, run, kill, die, repeat. In Dayz, you stand to lose something, so the PvP aspect is that much more intense. plus there are a lot more trolls in the mix than "survivors". So back to your point, they can add 100, 1000, 10000 zombies per town and it will not change the interaction between players, PvP will be the norm, becauss of stuff.

    Just a question?

People shoot them because they are trying to get back to their body or they are drawing fire for their friends to get a bead on your location. Make no mistake about it, most freshies who are running into a firefight have no plan on having a "talk it through" experience. I kill them during firefights, I will not if they are weaponless, but let's face it... a can opener is a weapon.

    dropped weapons

It is about inventory management. If you need to carry a hidden gun in your pack, then you need to leave 12 slots open (or more for pump shotgun). If you fill one of those spots, either absent mindedly or on purpose, you weapon will no longer fit and will drop to the ground. It does not seem like a mistake, but more of another layer of survival tactic. You need to make a decision, are the beans really worth losing your gun? I feel they should only allow pistols to be in the back pack and you would need to take extra time getting them out. If you want them on the hotbar, then they should be in a holster.

the problem with dayz: not dank enough

Canned food has a Best By date, not an expiration date. Usually this date is about a 2 - 3 year time frame. The USDA states that the food is easily edible 2 - 5 years beyond this date. It can last longer if it is in a cool dry location. White Rice, lasts forever, again in a cool dry place. As for the grass and such, yes, it would be unkept. However, the conditions would be greatly influenced by the seasons.

the problem with dayz: not dank enough

I thought I read some where it was 3 - 4 years down the road. If it were as soon as you are stating, there would be a bunch of dead bodies, and there would still be a pretty high population of humans comparred to 40 - 60 in the region.

where can i find the most pvp?

Go to Elektro. Do not listen to the people who say got to some other game for this gameplay. The only challenge in this game is the human element. The camping, the fishing, the farming, the looting... it is all just chores. We have all been duped into paying to do chores and some people are so brainwashed they think that is what makes this game so good. This game is 100% about human interaction, be it a friendly dude or gal on the road or an all out gun battle in one of the coastal cities. Anyone can survive this game without the PvP / KOS aspect, there are no real challnges to your life, except for the other players. People play games ot win or lose. Well at the end of the day, being alive with all your stuff is the win, being alive with someone elses stuff is a bigger win.

    loot splosion

If the world were to go to hell today. There would be locations all around the planet that would be considered loot explosions. Think of the number of grocery store, walmarts, sporting good shops, gas stations, malls etc., I see these loot explosions in game and I find them to be a lot of nothing I need (a lot like the stock at walmart) with maybe a one or two item bonus in amongst the other stuff. It would depend on the type of epidemic, but I feel like there would still be places worth exploring and looking for, like travelling to the walmart 13 miles away, because, you know it is there and you "don't" know if it has been looted.
