    My problem with the Standalone

It's called feedback. That's the whole point of early access. Without it, we'd probably have a way worse game at this point in development. Don't get me wrong, sharing and reading stories about the game is all well and good, but it's better to dissect the game and find the issues for the devs to deal with than it is for us to sit around a campfire, telling stories and singing Kumbaya.

I finally got my wish :)

For one thing, wolves blindly chasing people should not be blamed on the disease. It was never said to affect animals in what little lore the game has, and it's kind of stupid to blame half baked AI on something like that. That's the same as saying the reason everyone's character gets thirsty so fast is that they're all diabetic. For another, I don't want the wolves to be a super major threat out in the woods. They should be a concern if you're a hermit or if you're injured, but if you're charging through the woods with a group of 10 guys, they should run away, not attack, which is what I'm pretty sure they're gonna end up doing once they're implemented. They look like they're just gonna be zombies in wolf form, which is disappointing. I'd say if you're by yourself and/or bleeding in the woods, you should have a better chance of a wolf pack attacking. If you're with a large group, they should run away and generally keep their distance. Also, gunshots should scare them off, and maybe swinging a melee weapon in their direction should scare them as well. I hope the wolves act as another way to discourage the hermit playstyle and encourage players to work together. This is supposed to be a survival game, not CoD with survival aspects sprinkled in, so I'm happy that they're making the environment a bit more of a threat. After all, in a real zombie apocalypse, I'd be rolling with a group, not hiding in my lair by myself counting how many guns I have in my secret stash of military gear.
  3. I would wait until Beta before returning. I'm also burnt out right now, and I won't be returning until Beta hits or there's a significant change added to the game.

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

I'll probably wait until it hits stable before I play this update. I don't feel like dealing with the bugs and lag that experimental brings.

    pre .59 hype

    It's already here.

    Exp Update: 0.59 (+hotfix).

Can anyone give me a rough number of the amount of infected spawning?

    I'm done with 0.58

I'd say he's basing it on the fact that progress has been relatively slow in terms of development, which makes people want to wait for Beta, when the game will be more worth playing. I will probably come back to see how things are when 0.59 comes, and if the game isn't substantially changed with that update, I'll be waiting for Beta to start playing again. After all, when an update takes this long to come, most people want to see a real change. I don't know how many players will consistently be playing after the initial hype of Beta dies down, but I expect it to be more than the current number.

    Cooling off

Taking a shower is pretty different from pouring a bit of water from a bottle on your head. If you dumped the entire bottle, it might cause hypothermia though, so maybe if it were implemented, pouring a bit of water would cool you down, while pouring the whole bottle, or almost the whole bottle, would have a good chance of giving you hypothermia? Did he actually get hypothermia, or was he just a bit cold? After all, hypothermia is having a dangerously low body temperature, not just a bit of shivering.

    I'm done with 0.58

To be honest, I want them to take their time with 0.59. This update is supposed to bring some actual changes to the game, and if they rush it, we'll just end up with another "new gun, new hat, new shirt" update that we've been getting for the past while. But yes, I agree with everything you said. There is zero reason to play 0.58. It's a broken mess and I feel sorry for anyone who bought the game during this update and had this horrendous nightmare of an update be their first impression of the game.

    Cooling off

I doubt that water sitting in a backpack for 10 hours will be ice cold. I get what you're saying, and I agree that it's a terrible idea to throw someone into a hot/cold shower, but I doubt pouring a little bit of lukewarm water on their heads is gonna be a death sentence. Besides, I'd say that being able to instantly heal a broken leg with morphine is less realistic than pouring a bit of water on someone's head, especially since said water won't be slightly cold. No working fridges in the apocalypse.

    Shotguns are a Joke.

I've had this happen to me before too. I shot a new spawn who was about 10 feet away from me in the torso with a shotgun and he just kept coming. I can deal with not dying instantly from a bullet from a pistol or something, seeing as it's more than possible to do so, but if someone shoots you in the stomach with a shotgun, it's game over for you. But nope, apparently characters in the game can just take a blast from a shotgun at 10 feet away.

    Have we forgotten our roots?

It's not meant to be a PvP focused game. From my understanding, it's supposed to be a survival game with PvP sprinkled in. If they made DayZ less hardcore to the point where loot is even more easy to come by and such, at that point you really might as well just go play Arma or CoD.

Time to look for a new game or wazup?!

If you're looking for a new game, I recommend Ark: Survival Evolved. It's not really a mega gritty survival experience, aside from the dinosaurs that are really dangerous for low to medium leveled players, but it's a lot of fun building a fortress and hunting/taming dinosaurs. Plus, the devs constantly push out updates in that game, and I've never seen an EA game with such frequent updates. I personally have had more fun with it than I've ever had with Rust or DayZ Standalone, but that's just my opinion. Word of advice though, if you do decide to buy it. Join an unofficial server, because the official ones have tame times that can take up to 7 hours for the higher level dinos, although 3 to 4 is the average. But if you join an unofficial one that has the tame time sped up to x3 or x4, it's much less of a grind but is still a challenge to tame things.

    Have we forgotten our roots?

I live about two hours from you. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) The thing is, if survival isn't much of a challenge and is just "fun", then everyone just kills each other because there's nothing else to do. Currently we have a survival system that's very easy, which is why everyone's running around gunning each other down for no reason.

    Potential Buyer

Hmm, that's odd. I haven't been playing for the past couple months though, so I'm mainly going by what others tell me.

    Potential Buyer

Those videos are pretty misleading, as they do not show the amount of zombies that have ever been in stable updates to my knowledge. That's just one experimental update in that video, and hardly represents the actual game. In stable, I have never found a group of zombies larger than 5 or so. In my experience, they've almost always been solitary. However, apparently they're supposed to spawn in greater numbers with this next update.

    Have we forgotten our roots?

Do you expect the devs to completely abandon the idea they had in mind for their game, just based on what the community wants? The community's role is to help develop the game the devs had in mind, NOT to make a completely different game. The idea for the game was set in stone from the start. If people want a completely different game, they should go play something else.

    Have we forgotten our roots?

You can go hermit in the woods and get attacked by a lunatic on basically every online survival game ever made. Just saying.

    [Poll] Official servers 1pp only

What if someone doesn't care so much about "immersion", or doesn't want an ultra hardcore, super intense experience? Maybe they just want to play a game a bit more casually, and there's nothing wrong with that. If people find a casual experience fun, it's no different from someone finding a hardcore experience fun, so I would appreciate it if these 1pp cultists would stop with these comments like "1pp is superior in each and every aspect, only 10 year old kids like playing 3pp". If people enjoy 1pp, that's fine, and if people enjoy 3pp, that's also fine. It's just a game, which is supposed to be fun, and if people find certain aspects fun, then that's totally fine, but quit shoving your opinions down other people's throats. The more I read this thread, the less compelled I am to ever play on a 1pp server, if the people on them are gonna act so juvenile.

Spawning with something to suicide with

You can do it with knives and other such pointy objects last time I checked. I'm not too sure about the improvised knife, though.

    House repair and scavenging

It seems to me that a bunch of little kids will just run around smashing houses for no reason if this is implemented. Not that it'd be a big deal, but probably every house would be in a damaged state on a high pop server. After all, what's stopping them?

    What changed with DayZ?

If you find food hard to find, walk up to an apple tree and pick apples. Problem solved.

Remove server player list once in game.

I think that I speak for the majority because take the lack of zombies for example. That's something that bugs almost everyone, and people have been very outspoken about how they don't like it. Also, take the lack of survival aspects in the game. People have also been quite outspoken about that issue. I'm not exactly a DayZ veteran, but I've played for about a year, and when it comes to the player list, I've never seen anyone even mention it until now. If everyone hated it, there would be many more people complaining about it, like they do about other things they dislike about the game. I'm not saying that your opinion is stupid or anything, but I think if the majority of people hated it, there would have been many more mentions of it. I'm fine with it being a server option, but it would annoy me if it were forced on the rest of the playerbase who like having a player list.

Remove server player list once in game.

Don't get me wrong, the advantage thing makes sense, even though any advantage it offers is somewhat small. But I was just using the inventory thing as an example of the things in game that could be considered immersion breaking. After all, if I cared about immersion, hearing the same bird and the same chain link fence noise over and over would be more of an immersion breaker to me than seeing people log out every once in a while. But that's just my opinion, and the devs will probably add more audio noises later on. My point is, these two things don't really seem to bother the rest of the playerbase, otherwise threads about this topic would be much more common. If they bother some people, well that's too bad, but removing something other people enjoy having in the game just doesn't seem like a smart choice to me. However, if removing the player list and the alerts showing when people lose connection was a server option, then it would be a win win situation, and I would fully support that. But it's basically the same thing as people saying 3pp or 1pp should be removed because they don't like it. Removing one or the other would be punishing one side for the sake of the other, and I just don't support that.

Remove server player list once in game.

It is if it affects, and annoys, the majority. Game development is a business, and catering to a few people who don't like something when the rest of the people do isn't really the best idea. However, making it an option for server owners isn't a bad idea.
