hello ! very good fisrt shot and overall nice timing.

i got this kind of thing a couple times. last time, the server restarted just when i was going to loot a heli crash, which spawned an ACOG, a RV1 and a coupled stanag... this is dayz...

happenned to me today to,i was eating a can of peaches and got aggroed by a zombie. for some reason, the cancel action would not work, so i took about 6-7 punches before being able to take my axe out. i had luck because none of my gear was damaged. since i carry a plate vest, non of my stuff have been damaged. hum, discretion is a good point, but i remembrer getting shot with a mosin while running in full pristine military gear (TTSKO jacket, SPOSN backpack, UK assault vest, ballistic helmet...), my screen went quite grey, but i didn't even bleed. that was a decisive factor, i could take my time not thinking about when to rags up and i finally could flank my opponent. pristine clothes offer a better resistance to cold and, better protection (assaul vest and backpacks can absorb a significant amount of damage) and gets your items a little bit more protected from zombies hits. i'm actually in full tan gear (m65 jacket, boonie hat, beige gloves, beige pants, beige comba boots, gaz mask), it offer a surprisingly good camouflage and pair so well with the plate carrier. sometimes, fashion can meet camouflage and protection :D

on full pop servers, cherno and elektro are the places to be if you want some pvp. it a bad idea to PVP there if you are a lonewolf, you'll find large crews and relentless aggressive bambie waves. on low pop servers, pvp are located on military bases and NWAF. people go there to gear up and compulsive looter go there to find the last part of their beloved tacticool weapons. most of the kills i take there are high reward with little risk, compulsive looters are bad at PVP, gearing up players don't hide for long time and are easy to spot. private shard are more hard to read, you never know what to expect and where people will be. you can only know that after a restart, camping near a military base is always a good idea to take out running in or running out players.

that could be interesting. womans benefit from a smaller profile and a lowest caloric consumtion and a better pain resistance, with a restriction on the carry weight and strenght. men would have higher energetic needs, lower pain resistance, higher carry weight and strenght. but as evil minion says, it would be a hell to balance.

hello ! as you are new to this game, i can give you a big advice : don't spoil yourself too mutch. don't look at DayZ map ! i loved the "lost" feeling i had when i just started the game and the exitement discovering a new town. explore the map by yourself, you'll be so happy when you'll find military bases, airfields and other interesting locations. thoses feeling vanish as soon as you open dayz map. don't look at items databases and spawn locations, suprise is always more fun. when you'll be around 100+ hours into dayz, you should have lost that "new game" feeling, and that should be the right time to learn more about locations, spawns, craft by looking at dayz tutorials. on last advice, try half full servers. you'll find people, get that adrenalin rush that get you hooked to dayZ. trigger happy or not, finding people in dayz is alway interesting. so enjoy your noob time on this game ;)

thue that, never run into a group of people alone, if there is 3 friendly guy, the fourth will just kill you, they will ask "WHY" and he will say "WHY NOT ?", then they will laught and run away, i've been there too :lol: so today i tried a private shard, the septic falcon server. i started in svetlo, geared up pretty easily with basic things : backpack, mosin + PU + ammo and a lot of peaches (i love peaches :) ) then runned to Karmanovka to look at the V3S spawn location. with a immense amount of luck, i found a truck there and decided to raid the west. on my way, i decided to stop briefly at the truck reparing station of smirnovo. i was hopping to find a UK assault vest/bullet proof vest but sadly nothing interesting there. i got back in my truck and drived a few meters when i hear "yeah !". as i was on a private shard, i told myself : "mehhh, why not try to be friendly today ?" so i stop my truck and as i was getting out, i took a shotgun shot form an unknown direction (i play on 1st person servers). i tried to run away, but i was shot a second time, breaking my legs. the guy runned into me, thinking i was dead. i shot his face off with my mosin. ho revenge, sweet reevenge :P . so i looted his body and crawled in direction of the neares bush to craft a splint. at that moment, i heard footsteps... i turn around, and see a geared guy running into me. sadly, i have ma axe in hands as i almost reached the bush. one shot and "you are dead". well, it was not the good day to be friendly i guess :D. mistakes made : - beeing friendly - not having crafted splint for emergency situation - looted the body too soon (for my defense, i hoped he had morhpine and his body as sleeping in direction of novo, so i was a that moment or never ^^) then i respawned in berezino, headed west right away, found another truck and headed to the west, then the server restarted. i lost my truck but founda nice ak 101 and the associated mag in the military base near vybor, a high capacity vest and a m65 jacket in a heli crash in less than an hour. i like to think i was blessed for having tried to be friendly :) . so be carefull, i might not be frindly tomorrow :P

well, i agree that shotguns are really good in urban combat. but in urban combat, a lot of things also happen though windows in the 2-3 story buildings, and i'll guarantee you'll regret to not have a longhorn or mosin+LRS to take some piece of head at 60m-120m distance. MP-133 + longhorn, that what i call a good combo ;) , as well as the mosin + sawed-off or magnum.

usually, i don't get killed by hoppers as they don't move for a while (the famous please wait i think). most of the time i run into people logging in, immobile. so i shot then in the face and get their gear. by the way, they are not always hopper i think, i've had server crash or restart when looting dangerous area, logging in back to find myself as a freshspawn, probably killed by someone who might said "eat that fucking hopper", who know... a guy that can move just after logging in must be logging in for the very first time of the day (or had changed IP between two sessions), so it might not be a hopper and that can be deadly in a situation where you think you have cleared a building.

engraved 1911 are not rare from my experience, i'm not sure it's more rare than the non-engraved one. the 1911 magazine is the most easily found actually, you have good chances to find one in police buldings, i even found some in piano houses. half of my last playthrough, the engraved 1911 was my side weapon (one hit zombie killer and very silent with silencer).

it's their own server, but there are rules... they break thoses rules, and benefit from it at the depends of the other players. as explained before : thoses servers are used to farm loot without being looted with random player, then the owners joins a public server with their AKM/drum mag/PSO and spray players that aquired their gear the right way, taking risks and time for it. those servers owner have to be forced to respect the rules. maybe one character per server is the solution.... that would not have been needed if people wouldn't have abused the system. hopping/ghosting/combat log/server loot farmers... so many bad habits to destroy :(

that sound quite elitist to me... he never said that a "smooth experience" is his primary concern. i think he is like the vast majority of the players that try experimental : he just want to see the new features and improvements and knows that performances are not as smooth as stable. this update is not playable since you can't play more than 5 minutes, then you have a crash, 70 sec of waiting (thanks, we really needed that 10 sec extra in experimental), 2 minutes of please wait, 5 minutes of gameplay and a new cycle begins. don't tell me you are playing experimental only to gather data for the devs, i won't believe you :P . it a mutual service, we try the new things because new things are cool, then we complain about things that doesn't work :) . bye ;)

never fired this weapon in PVP situation in about 500h of gameplay... for the reason you mentionned above but more specifically because the magazine is too hard to find. i think this rifle will be viable in a close future. devs are going in that direction. some improvements i can see to restore balance between these weapons (even if balance is not needed, we are not playing CS:GO) : - mosin will not take a LRS anymore in a few updates, so it will be PU or nothing, reducing the effectiveness of the mosin to 400-500m. i heard that mosin might still be able to take the LRS but with a special rail adapter. - real 1337 sniping will be bound to weapons like SVD and winchester, but i can see those weapons be really rare (SVD at russian heli crash, winchester at civilian weapon spawn but really rare too). - CR527 will accept the new hunting scope we saw in leaked files, making it usable in sniping conditions (still hope the 7.62*39 will be hard to control at long range because of his curvy trajectory). i hope it will make it usable from 0 to 800m. but with the curvy trajectory you'll have to be good at range calculation to hit target far away. - CR 527 need to spawn some times with magazine. - SKS need to stop spawning everywhere, make it military spawn only, no more sks in the little yellow and blue log house. this weapon is too common an OP, no mag, good at short/medium range, powerfull... i only drop a SKS for an m4 with attachements or a mosin with LRS if i have a backup weapon. with these changes, i can see skilled players using the CR527 as an easy to get sniper rifle. noobs should not be able to use it with ease after 300m. ps : jeeps wreck are a wonderfull source of 7.62*39 rounds in civilians area ;)

i've been killed by a truck twice yesterday :( the first time i was coming close to a truck that seems to be stuck on a house corner. i was going to enter it and i heard the classical "vrooom" sound that you get when you get close and my screen went black... the second time, i get out of my truck to speed loot a russian heli crash. i decided to not turn off the engine to get out and in faster... my truck was not 100 immobile when i get out, like moving at 1km/h, then black screen... both time it was 5+ hours old characters fully geared with m4/aug, smersh, m65 jacket... less deadly truck will bee a huge improvement for me, learning what not to do with them the hard way totally pissed me off since my death were not logical. ps : i'm quite sure i've not been shot, since it was the exact moment i get in or out and no shots have been heard. i still get huge frames drop and screen freeze from time to time. everything else is ok, nice update, i really like the working silencers and new crafting possibilities. animal AI is still totally bugged sadly.

no, just no. learn where to loot the things you need, when you'll have 200-400h of gameplay, you'll be able to gear up in 1h, even on raided servers.

i met an amazingly bad player yesterday. is was looking for a vehicle in the middle of nowhere (shakovkha village near staroy), with not so decent gear visible (no primary rifle, blue water proof bag, no military gear). i was about to leave the village, looking at dayz map in the middle of the road. i took a first shot just when i was hitting alt+tab, it took me about 5-7 seconds to be back in-game, the guy was standing behind me at 15m and just emptied his sks. so he managed to put 2/10 bullets a best on a stationnary target at 15m... back in game, i pulled out my magnum while he was reloading without moving, aimed for the head and... nothing because ALL my gear was ruined... i runned down on some tree line, he misses all his shots and i managed to rags me up with my bandana and hunt the guy with my axe. i finally found him when he was looging off from shame. that could be a friendly encounter, i was in a good mood, we were not in a PVP area... finally we both loose from this encounter : he ruinned all my gear and he wasted his bullets. i died 2h later, killed for the 2 time of the day with a stationnary truck with the engine on (do we really need bear traps with that kind of truck ? :rolleyes: )

tried it a few minutes on 2 different servers, sadly it's unplayable for me. the new UI doesn't work, i've experienced some huge rubberbanding and most of all HUGE framedrop to 8 FPS that doesn't go away. i'll give it a try in a few days, i hope it will perform better.

a lot of nice features incoming !!! they didn't mentionned crafting, i hope they plan to extand crafting big time :)

CoD kiddy... hate that kind of "superior/elitist" comment. DayZ is so mutch more than a FPS, that's why i think it can't stand with most of the true FPShooters in this class. But like mentionned before, it's the only game that leaved me shaking after a fight. from a FPS point of view, Dayz has very strong and very weak points. for me, the strategic moves with squad are a strong point of this game, the achievement feeling after every won battle is pretty unique too. the weak points are weapons balance (which is not intended in a survival game), desyncr is also a BIG issue and the learning curve is quite short. take a FPS like CS, it takes way more coordination, reflexes, strategy and overall time spend in the game to be "a good teamplayer/killer".

i found netting in rural houses north of zelenogorsk and little wood cabin in kamyshovo in exp. never even checked a boat but had 6 netting in my inventory ;)

nope ;) ! a guy really offers me the truck ! i was playing for the first time this exp, when i heard a new sound. i first thought it was a new sound for the wind but as it came closer, i notice it was the brand new V3S. i runned in its direction and clapped my hand when the car drive in my direction. the guy stop, jump ou of the car and offers me the truck. a nice guy indeed ! i took a traveler about one minute after. when i offer him to drive the car, a freshspawn punched me with brass knucles, i hit him with my pickaxe a few times and he manage to steal the car. we run after him and find the car 300m away, with his dead body inside. what an epic start with that vehicule ! most of the time i offer the suvivors i encouter to try the car, none of them have stolen it !

i'm liking this experimental ! new towns up north west have a lot of loot. found a firefighter axe, a SKS, a PU scope and a box 7.62*39 rounds. food was easy to find too, found 3 powderer milk and about 5 canned peach and a lot of soda. every 1H session i find at least a V3S. never found gazoline sadly. my playthrough was like this : spawn berezino -> been offered a V3S -> drive to novo -> server crash, loose the truck -> loot karmanovka (healthy + backpack + screw driver/machete/matchbox/ammo + V3S) -> drive to Zadprudnoe and toploniki -> server crash, loose the truck -> loot these places, found a V3S -> drive to NWAF for some PVP and hopefully get killed in an heroic battle to spawn again
