    Keeping it real

So one of the things about a survival game its mostly believable mechanics so what would be peoples changes to increase realism? Mine: Walking and chewing gum: I get that running and eating isn't really feasible but eating and drinking should be. Chew with your mouth closed: I don't know about you but the whole house does not know when I'm having a midnight snack or drink, eating sounds should be a LOT quieter. My back only has room for one: Ok so why cant I ditch the fire extinguisher and put that shotgun back there? 2 Back slots for what ever you want. Sorry but my other hand is occupied: Duel wielding but greatly reduced accuracy. How do these pants stay up: Belts, come on what happened to Batman? Just some things That is all.

    Types of Zombies

We be screwed people we be screwed :) hahahah It might still be possible to explain away the changes to deterioration of condition due to lack of food ie, us. :) I hope the doors start to work if there is a increase in fast zombies that come out day and night :)

    Types of Zombies

25 years of Zombie science going into this post so read up and Troll somewhere else. But some valued thoughts would be good to hear, not just your “o it’s not the way I like MY Zombies” maybe add in the kinds of zombies you like (legless, blind, item poking out of body like a fork) come on give them some ideas. Bring in multiple types of zombies and increase the numbers MASSIVLY. So to start out you have some fast ones but as time goes on you reduce the number of fast ones but add more and more and MORE slower ones. This could be accounted for by deterioration of muscle and nerves in a dead body making them slower and less aware of their surroundings. If not an evolving population of the kinds of zombies then start out with tones of slower ones with faster more aware ones being out further from towns and scattered rarely in town. Slow zombies are of no danger WHEN THEY ARE ALONE but this is the point they are never, or very rarely alone they come in a HORDE. This is where the fear and the danger comes from, if that circle of zombies forms around you and there isn't a ladder, You be Screwed. Right now the ability to smash a running zombie with an axe or some such, even punch them in the head, means it’s only a problem for that little while or unfortunately for a long while when its chasing you. But make a slow moving horde that has closed in all around the building you are in means for one very shitty situation for you, as it should for you being so silly as to get caught in there. The age of a zombie would also change its eyesight faster than its hearing or smell, so slower older zombies would react at a reduced distance but because of the HORDE it would mean pull one pull all kind of situations. If you have triggered the town and can’t get out of sight and sound then you may well find yourself once again in that very shitty situation of being surrounded. Also an aged zombie could mean an aged brain and as such a shorter attention span so they would not search for anywhere near as long. You would have to keep the Runners, Joggers, Crawlers in there because they create the chase and that panic when trying to line them up with a head shot but just less and near impossible to loss when running. This makes for two distinct types of play when it comes to how you handle them. I completely understand this might well not be at all possible in DayZ because of the game engine having a limit to the number of zombies it can stably generate and control. However at the moment the name really should be DayBSHwithalittleZ for those of you who don’t get it (DayBanditsSurvivorsHeroeswithalittleZombies). Bring on the Zombies make them an important factor not just a side note. Thanks for reading my rant J
  4. I am going to pose something here I am yet to read in any of the debates about bandits and limiting them. Its great that people are playing them, it creats the drama of is this person going to shoot you or rob you meaning its not just a case of saying Gday to everyone you meet so it has to stay and can't become displayed if you are playing bandit or not. HOWEVER The amount of bandits in game may not be a true representation of how it would be for one main reason, you are not REALLY killing a person so as an individual pushing the mouse button its easy but I hope that in real life it would be a hard choice that would bring with it mental pain. So by saying you don't want to limit peoples 'playing' style, you also want to remove the realism of the game. It is a VERY tricky problem. So I think the OP has posed one way, but maybe not THE way to help, but it might be the ONLY way.

Let us repair Raincoats with Duct Tape

Duck tape should be able to be used for a LOT of things, repairs to items like raincoats, backpacks, shoes, hats. It should also be required or able to be used to make splints, tape up wonds. This would make having a roll in the backpack almost a vital thing for everyone, just like it is for reals :)
  7. Make a craftable non compound bow? have a look at youtube with a search for PVC Bow, this is what I'm talking about. Give it less range, less stopping power and harder to aim till you make the addons but hay it looks like a sweet weekend project to me.
  8. I think making Temp Zones would be a great idea. No Radiation zones though. Temp Zones could be related to proximity to coastline and altitude. The higher you go the more cold weather gear you would need but you could even make the zombies slower in colder areas. I love the size of the current map and there is coastal, forest and farmland but some real mountains with snow would be great.
