Smersh Vests: Holy grail? + Mi-8 crash sites in general.

Isn't it so that everything will be reset on the 049 update? Whats the point of saving stuff up? -
First of all, I end up jumping like 1m off a stair in a barn, like not even one meter, thats not even 3 feet, and I fell dead instantly. This after running for nearly fourty five minutes. Next I gathered the patience to try again, spend a few hours looting and running around, server restarts, character randomly disappears, suddenly I have to start all over? This is really REALLY bothersome...
-
Sounds like DayZ in its Alpha yes Hope it won't be like that once its officially released. I really dislike the running. If only we could choose a spawn spot until it was officially released

Here is my story First I met Ujie. He was fighting zombies in a barn, so I came to the rescue. Unfortunately, he didn't know you had to hit the head, so he was knocked down. I managed to kill the zombie, but before I could bandage him with my own t-shirt, he had already passed away... I was actually really bummed about this, Ujie had a very nice accent. But as much as I wanted to cry, I couldn't hang around for too long. I needed to get myself some gear so I would no longer cool off. After gearing up, I decided to go hunting since the running got me hungry and especially thirsty. After killing two boars and a deer, I decided to keep the deer meat. Now that I had food and warm clothing, I had to get weapons. Not just any weapon, no, the one and only AKM. On my long journey, I had found some more gear, and decided to become a completely black ninja. During my fights, I noticed people were very frightened. Unfortunately, a bowlhead would not make you look very scary, not very appealing to women, so I decided to get something more 'deterring'. As you can see, all warm and nicely geared. After a while, I got bored and my self esteem raised minute by minute. My mind was telling me to go to Electrozavodsk and kill everyone, whilst on the other hand, my exhausted buttocks were telling me to let it be for the day and go for a run. I figured my buttocks couldn't speak so I went to Electrozavodsk, killed around 29 top-geared criminals to people who were running back to get their gear back and had a good time. I faced death many times. For example would be when I had to kill this far-away Mosin-sniper guy on top of a tower, or, in quite some contrast, when a newbie desperately attempted to pummel me to death with a wrench. Either way, after many skillfull and lucky kills, I had to face my own downfall. Two guys ganged up on me and proceeded to rape the crap out of me. Unfortunately, I had to start all over again. Enjoy this ninja bowlhead-selfie And ofcourse, a potato for the long post.

What t1337Dude said Mostly, when interacting with full-geared players, you end up getting raped in da buttocks so many times they'll call you a wormhole. Sometimes, like really rarely, funny stuff does happen. You just have to look out for it. Sometimes little kids run past me screaming with their young voice, cracking me up like hell. God I love it when people do that. An other example would be when this guy got handcuffed on the floor, and instead of escaping, he started playing the 'Epic Sax Guy' and he just sat there for literally fifteen minutes as I was stalking him and enjoying the music.

I like playing in an entirely black outfit
-
Damn, the disappointment and adrenaline must have been immense.
-
Have you been shot before? Well, I mean, neither have I but my father spent a few years in the Spetsnaz and he told me that even if your vest is bulletproof, the impact will either knock you back or knock you down. They had AKs there so you know, high caliber.
-
I like the concept very much, but I have a great hunch it'll cause bugs. However, high caliber weapons should give knockback and what you suggested, so that not every close gunfight would end in an equal death. I surely support this in the later days of DayZ.

As far as I know, the whole DayZ population is feeling fps lag. If you can't live with it, wait for the official release, all you can do is accept it and play like that. Edit: his computer might be on gaming mode? Iunno

So here is something that has been going through my mind for a while. How would it be if your character aged? I've seen the suggestion where your character grows a beard etc etc. Lets just pretend the experience and perks system has been implemented already, dayz is far, has been officially released etc. How about implementing facial and body aging? How about choosing the type of body/character you want? How about sigarettes?Like, you start off young, looking skinny and normal, inexperienced. As the time goes by, you start growing a beard, you start getting longer hair, your face becomes a bit more, well, old. Your character becomes more grumpy, your stamina depletes faster, climbing ladders/drawing your weapon goes a tad bit slower etc etc. I'm talking about lifespans of weeks, not days. Like first two days your character gets facial and regular hair growth, then your character gets a bit bigger and chubbier every day, until your beard/hair starts turning gray and eventually you end up losing abilities, losing stamina, losing speed, etc. What would be even more awesome is that if you p.e take blood transfusions, take pills or injections etc you risk getting sick more or you risk getting a heart attack more than when you were young. This would give the epi-pen and the defibrillator a good use. What would be even more immense would be if your diet increases your lifespan by a day or two, or actually decreases it. So lets say you eat canned beans every day, that would make your lifespan stay the same, lets just say you eat meat one time, vegetables the other time, rice that day, fruits the other day. Right now that would be an useless feature, but looking at far distant DayZ gaming, it would actually seem awesome as hell in my opinion. Give me some opinions, here are mine for now: Positive: People will be forced to live temporary, people won't get attached to their items nor their characters. If building bases and camping tents function properly, it would require them to actually use them instead of being a lone wolf who dies from age somewhere in the woods. If experience and perks come in, people would have to choose wisely what perks they take, instead of having the ability to max-out completely. The diet function would make sure people just don't stack up on 10 cans and be safe for good. Negative: Is there really anything negative about this?! Now, regarding the body type: Few types: Athletic(athletic perks) Medic(medic ") Survivalist(survivalist ") Militairy(militairy ") Casual civilian(casual ") This once again goes in the long distance. If you choose an athletic body type, then you get athletic attributes par example, you get athletic perks easily, you last longer, you're faster but you have issues learning the other skills. As a medic, you're bound to make less issues, get less infections going(thus needing less antibiotics), but you also have certain skills which others do not, like breaking bones back into places instead of having to use splints or morphines etc. Once again learn your own skills easier than others. As a survivalist, you get survivalist perks, which in this case would be crafting perks. Lets just say you can build things that other classes/body types could not, atleast not without unlocking it, like a bow, traps, improvised knives etc. Militairy sounds quite obvious to me, very advanced in fighting skills, p.e doesn't get as much adrenaline as the rest when getting shot at, has a steadier aim, can handle guns faster, jamming is fixed easier etc. Casual civilian is just a civilian who is roundout casual. No special skills, learns everything in a casual way. Now I did mention things like jamming, crafting, experience gaining in order to unlock things etc. I'm hoping these functions will come too. Positive: Game gets extended features, everyone is very unique. Negative: Some might lack skills, other people might want to get everything. Last one; smoking cigarettes. Why? Very simple, smoking cigarettes would p.e reduce the adrenaline rushes your character gets when getting shot at immensively and your hands get steadier. It would reduce your hunger, but in return, you would get nicotine-addicted, and thus need sigarettes again in order to get calm hands and reduced adrenaline again. Adding to that, you would age faster. To quit, you'd have to find cigarette gums. Positive: Game gets extended and gets unique features compared to other survival games, making this one worth while. People who smoke in real life might also enjoy having their character smoke in-game. It looks badass, gives temporary boosts. Negative: Very time consuming to make and a small detail compared to the required work. - Give me some opinions lads, I took a good thirty minutes to write this, I'd appreciate your five minutes expressing your opinions. Once again, though, this is not for now. Just imagine when DayZ is all advanced, vehicles implemented, crafting nearly perfect, thousands of guns to be found, zombies completely fixed, and new features are needed, thats for when this is suggested.
-
Totally agreed, this game is a one of a kind feature. No matter how buggy it is, I'll never give up on dear DayZ.
-
I find this thread very interesting. I agree how people who shoot on sight are not immediatly bandits, but if you loot him afterwards, you're still a bandit, right? Setting up traps in DayZ seems really unrealistic imo, idk how you're supposed to trap a person, thats taking it a tad bit too far.

Spent hours looting and surviving, end up dead when logging in?
Chamil posted a topic in Troubleshooting
So I logged off on a 'safe' spot, crouched down for 10 seconds on top of the NWAF firestation, then left the server. Came back, said my legs were in extreme pain and my character was dead. Nobody killed me, nothing happened, must have been a bug? Now I do, however, understand that this is the alpha version, stuff like that is supposed to happen here, but damn son, it gotta get fixed. I haven't seen any threads like this immediatly, except for the one where it says your character got deleted ->in response to that one, doesn't that happen when you combat log and get killed while your character is standing there like a dummie while it disconnects? From what I know thats what happened if it said your character has been reset. Anyway, love the game, too bad I had to spend hourssssssss finding gear and end up losing it in seconds to un-legit reasons, hope it'll be different once the real version is released Keep up the good work devs, I'm loving it so far except for these zombies seriously, something really wrong with these guys, but noticed that is being taken care of already too so yeah KEEP IT GOING DEVS, GIVE US BIKES SOON! Wouldn't that be awesome? If they could give us a simple old mountain bike until the real version is released. It would surely increase my will to play daily instead of when I feel like spending hours of running for an AKM. ANYWAY here I end my rant, keep the good stuff going, sad about my loss, see you noobs in-game. -
Really? They just go straight through here, lol. Luckily it won't stay like that forever though.
-
That is really strange. I can't help you out here, sorry lad. Hope this response bumps the thread into someone who does know.
-
You know what, you just made a genius mark. You don't get classes, you get experience. Experience, you ask? Very simple, you build a bow p.e, it fqils, build it again, it fails, again, succes. Now next time, you'll have a higher chance of succeeding earlier. Think that might work, no? @Heav and Askelon; Its not really a handicap, I mean getting down requiring a second longer, climbing up ladders with a tiny bit of delay, small things that could potentially differ ya from a fit young person, you know? I personally think it would offer more different gameplay, unlike all the others where age never played a role. I mean as much as we would love to be fit forever, we are all still going to grow old one day, right? If we're making DayZ as realistic as possible, then why not?! Would be epiccccc
-
Agreed. Can you imagine having guerilla fights instead of having to hide in a house till you get a chance, Hide behind trees, branches, hide in the grass, god that would be epic.
-
I think the wiki patch logs are clear as hell. There really hasn't changed much. I must say you'll get very mad with the zombies now. They are seriously OP imo, spawn like crazy and follow ya everywhere. New armor, a new gun, AK110 if I remember right, a new shotgun, nothing spectacular.
-
I assume everyone uses push to talk? Perhaps try a different button, have you checked the audio settings? Make sure you keep the button held in or double tap it to keep it permanent, double tap again to stom.
-
If the hordes were fixed zombies, then that would be awesome. They might not quite kill the players but they'll sure waste some good ammo hehehe

Hehehe, good one. Too bad its very true, even the so long existing DayZ mod has so many bugs, lmao. We still love you, DayZ, don't worry babe <3 *rubs belly* -
Woot just figured out how to quote on a smartphone.Yes, exactly. However, I'm not looking at a few hours and you go like ohh heart attack, darn you age. I'm talking about a week straight gameplay, like p.e 150 hours straight on that character before you show disabilities. Hair and beard aging happens alot earlier though. Would you not say that is epic?????!!! An interactive aging simulation in a zombie survival game, where have you seen that before?! Once again, sorry for my spelling/grammar mistakes, I'm on a phone.
