Love the crossbow, but I don't love having to decide between either a gun or crossbow. I'd like to have the option to: 1. Breakdown the crossbow like the trumpet so that I can fit it in my bag. 2. Be able to carry 2 weapons or 2 melee on my back. 3. Fashion a piece of rope to attach crossbow to the outside of my bag. The first 2 options are feasible in my eyes, I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, I'd love to feel secure by having a gun I can use but also feel like I can be stealthy by using a crossbow if need be. With .58 live I can finally begin to hoard crossbow bolts so I can at least become more proficient with the crossbow.

Gews thanks for the info, I would like option 2 because I can still fit an axe in my backpack
-
Not sure if it will survive maintenance but the devs said a tent should stay for 45 days untouched.
-
Making a crossbow like an SMG to where I can place it in my bag will suffice, doesn't need to be broken down.
-
Simply put, I don't really like the SMGs due to the high recoil and inaccuracy and going up against somebody in PVP, a pistol isn't my first choice. A crossbow I want to use as a secondary for when I don't need a rifle, even a suppressed gun pulls aggro and can still be heard by players.

My friend just got hosed down by a fully kitted AK, that guy must have esp to find all that gear so quick

In the updated rules it says we can reset persistence data once a day with provider approval, as well as adjust persistence time, can you elaborate as to what this does exactly?

Call me a fan boy if you will, but I'm pumped!

I can finally begin my crossbow bolt hoarding -
The only time I talk to somebody is when I have the upper hand, I just tell them if I wanted to kill them they would be dead already, I tell them to keep their gun on their back I don't want any trouble, as soon as they reach for anything I pop em. I've been using thisethos for a few months now and I've had a 99% success rate, only when they have friends do I fail at initiating conversation (maybe twice out of 30 something encounters) I actually made 2 new steam friends this way. You just have to be smart about it, stay calm, and I've slowly began to realize that people are generally friendly, but most of them get jumped and killed so everybody has their guard up. Now in those 30 encounters I've killed probably 7 people who didn't trust me or were KOSers, it baffling that they try to be hostile when I obviously have the upper hand, I understand it's hard to trust people, but I know my intentions which is why I can say with conviction that this method works. I don't ask them for anything, I don't hold them up, I just say hello, see if they need anything, chit chat type of stuff, it's been fun.

I see what you did there

So when you opt in for beta (Experimental) you have to download all the data files and then some "system" files, aside from the content you download, what other files are being changed to tell the game "hey, load these instead of these?" How come we aren't able to keep the content files and just "switch" the system files. I'm playing devils advocate I know, but just out now curiosity wouldn't we be able to essentially load content files to work with the stable version? Does the server check all those files to make sure you aren't using modified files, is it battleye?

I think we're SOL still, I haven't read anything about an update.

So I hopped on today to do some PVP, grabbed a makarov and a clip, killed a guy who had an M4 on his back, it has 1 bullet and fully decked out. Is there a way I can submit this particular item so the devs can perhaps trace its origins or maybe how they spawned it in? to the best of my knowledge they aren't spawning at crash sites so that leaves only one way this item came to be.......

Go with option 4
-
Agreed, if persistence doesn't work in .58, I'll be playing some more ARK, I like the loot system and how it works, but if loot is going scarce and random I can't justify spending 3 hours to loot up to pvp, because until persistence gets fixed pvp is really all we can do.

Made me chuckle

Are we getting a stable update today?
-
Man that is super creepy looking, but I don't think I would've been able to help myself, you did good staying away, but I would need to try and become the hunter, it's just too tantalizing lol.
-
As I sit here patiently waiting for the next update, I feel compelled to watch some YouTube of SA, to be drawn back into a game I have invested a lot of time into, to feel the NEED to hop on my player and discover something new and encounter new players. Unfortunately I'm just not feeling the love, they say absence makes the heart grow more fond, I've been absent for almost all of May, I've been trying to cut back, I've been trying to fill the void with other games, but there's this nagging, this itch, this power that keeps pulling me back, I don't think I can keep away much longer, hurry devs, I need .57 in my life. What's the first you're going to do after downloading? I'm hunting for a blaze/sporter and a scope.

Well here we are...again...Anybody have any news?
-
Yes, performance has increased, hicks mentioned it in a dev update
-
Oh but of course, pardon me, you're correct, I MUST eat first lol. I would settle for a crossbow as well
-
I'm on the same page as Mookie, it's just not as fun anymore, when I first of heard of DayZ I wanted to play all commando mountain man style (in .45) well that wasn't going to happen very easily so I got to know the map and got better at PVP, with every update I attempted my mountain man playstyle, inching closer and closer with every update, except .56, crossbows are glitched and it sucks now that I can find bolts, oh the irony. It feels like we keep fighting an uphill battle, one forward and two back kind of thing.

Travel inland, I promise you that not ALL the loot is gone
