So in regards to the windowed mode, does shadowplay work in windowed mode with your app? I can mess with the config files to get the game to go windowed so I can switch back and forth between screens, but then shadowplay quits detecting that the game is open. -
What System Would You Like Implemented
Apollo'sFire replied to hyerjohn's topic in General Discussion
I think that animals such as bears and wolves, ie predators, would be nice, adds some danger elements to staying out in the woods for extended periods of time. Stealth aspects too, I would LOVE to be able to sneak past some zeds and players undetected, and if you're being chased by a horde you should be able to duck into one of those station Wagons in the rear and shut the door and wait for them to pass by, hiding under the cars would be nice too, garbage dumpsters, etc. On the same side as the stealth, we need more crossbow like weapons, or maybe spawn in a few more instances of bolts/retrieve fired ones. -
DayZ minimum/recommended Specs and your rig

i5 4670k @ 4.0 OC w/H100i MSI Z97i GAC mini-itx MSI 760 GTX mini GPU 2gb @ 1100+ 8gb Corsair @ 1633 (jumping to 16 soon) Intel 240gb SSD Win7 x64 I generally run a little warmer due to the size restraints, CPU @ 76C & GPU @ 74C I did have everything maxed out, before .52 I saw 25-35 in cities & 60+ in the countryside, with .52 stable before I started lowering settings I got 12-15 in cities & maaaaybe 25 elsewhere. I've turned down clouds and shadows and texture details, I'm not done tweaking but I'm now getting 20-25 in cities and 35+ elsewhere. Does AA play that large of a factor? I haven't messed with because I didn't want to sacrifice the fluidity of the game, haha now that I said that I'm chuckling, the game is so laggy anyways. -
I can't say I'm not surprised, I honestly have come to expect nothing less and as for my latest character, my buddy killed me while I was on the phone because I couldn't answer my in game voice, but eh, I've grown not to care, thanks Dean Hall.

When you start the crafting process, press and hold W and it should work, this should work for other actions as well, skinning, rock knife, etc.
-
No, see that's when I get the reset, if I close the game and leave it for a few hours I get reset.
-
So wait until no more desync, ok I'll give it a shot. Thanks man
-
I've been having this issue for about a week now, I used to get resets if joining a server too quickly after a restart, learned how to stop that. I used to get them when joining servers, then I took notice to hardcore and private shards, but this crap, this crappy resetting as of a week ago is completely out of the blue. It only happens when I shut the game down and reopen it after sleeping that night or working that day, like there's a timer to it or something. no matter what server it is, or where I log out.

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard, guess I can find feathers now, thanks! Thank you too Dean Hall.......

New Years Eve! If you're stuck at home don't celebrate alone, come hunt some bandits and ring in the new year! -
I've been doing some reading online, and I **think** I understand how it all works as far as character movement to and from servers in a hive versus public. My question pertains to loot distribution over a private server and/or within the hive? I've seen posts about people not being able to find simple things like canned food, and the one server I played on that was private I couldn't find any loot aside from a pair of gloves, granted I didn't play long on that server because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to find anything to survive. As far as admin control, what are the advantages with owning a private server (as of .52) and how can we accurately ban somebody if we haven't been given more tools?
-
So the loot doesn't distribute itself over "x" amount of servers within the hive? It's safe to assume then that private shards, the majority of them have persistence enabled?

Lots of new players this week! Hope everybody enjoys their New Years. We are thinking of setting up a few meet and greets for the New Year, expanding the friendly DayZ community is on the list of "resolutions" and we hope you can be a part of it! As The Riddler stated, Elektro is becoming the new KOS area on our server, keep your eyes peeled and try to be proactiv with scripters/hackers, if you encounter another player who is acting suspicious and seems to be doing things that aren't "normal" for the game try and grab their name and some video evidence. See you guys on TS! -
Always people in Zelen
-
You've seen 2? Man I need to play with you, I've got at least 6 videos of hacker deaths that I've recorded

New patch today! Join up and play a while! -
We see your raid challenge and we accept, when and where?

If you find one please let the rest know, unfortunately that would probably attract hackers and we both know they wont ever stop. ive read a few of your posts and i think you would fit it well with my group, we own Welcome to the Jungle, and yes we have hackers but our TS is generally populated by some regulars and we do everything we can to report hackers and just play the game and have fun. We do get involved in some PVP every once in a while but we like to play the game PVE. ;until they give us the admin tools to check logs, we cant really do anything about hackers except supply the dev team with video evidence, we actually have a communication line setup with the server hosts and devs, we really try to do all that we can to stop these guys. check out our posts on the server thread, you can ask for me or the riddler, like i said we have a few regulars who can speak for our community, check us out, i think you'll enjoy it

DayZ for purists - Keeping it real
Apollo'sFire replied to Noble Savage's topic in General Discussion
interesting concept, i can see how it would work really well on a private shard unless it all got reset after a restart, that would be annoying if you had a short amount of time to play, i'm going to discuss this with my group. -
inb4 "its realistic, its make the game challenging, blah blah" i really dislike night time servers, if you try to play without your gamma turned up and you use a light source, when you make it into a town to look for supplies, somebody can see you from a loooooong way off and just wait for you to get close or follow you to kill you, doesn't make it fun, which as vidya game, i expect to have fun. /rant

Know your role, and stick to your words.
Apollo'sFire replied to comikz's topic in General Discussion
says the guy from Detroit haha. I always stick to my word, not for other players sake but for my own, I dont want to be a lying scumbag, so I choose not to. I agree with everybody else, if somebody immediately yells out that they are "friendly" my guard and gun are up, if I ever encounter somebody and it is evident i have the upper hand, I very calmly tell them to keep their gun on their back or lowered, and not to make any sudden moves, and they'll live, i dont play the game to kill people or take their stuff, its more fun for me to find it all. i will however blow a hole in your skull if you try to kill me or take my stuff, i dont let bandits get my stuff easily, i will die before i let you rob me. i enjoy the rare friendly encounters that make the game worth playing, which as long as the people are stupid i generally make new friends. ive gotten to where death doesn't bother me so it allows me to take more chances, the one good encounter is worth 5 bad ones, the only time i hate being killed is when im travelling minding my own business and somebody shoots me as i run past, or being killed as a new spawn, otherwise, bring it on, i enjoy the challenge, but dont be a sneaky little prick who has to weasel his way around so he can get a kill, if you want to fight me do it with honor. -
The spawn determines a lot for sure, I enjoy stopping in the smaller towns while making my way to Novo (if I spawn north) then heading west along the railroad tracks, I feel it's a little more "survival" oriented, instead of just making my way directly to the military bases to grab a gun. If I spawn south I generally make my way west towards Myshinko, and then go north around the NW corner, rarely will I venture to NWAF...alone, with a group it's one of my fav places, we camp server hoppers. I enjoy the smaller towns that rarely get attention, you can generally find an unlooted police station and a civilian gun or two along with ammo, clothing and foot is generally plentiful in smaller towns.

I've come to terms with the jogging, it keeps me from overheating and makes my weapon sway less noticeable. I also think that when they implement the stealth tactics you will see alot more people moving at a slower pace instead of sprinting through a town (which hopefully the zombie numbers will increase in these areas forcing you to take a tactical approach.) As far as the realism aspect of breaking your legs on branches and rocks and stuff, they would need to do a very good job because our control in real life is way more finely tuned that using 4 keys and a mouse (which are quite laggy) the textures in game dont allow for the ability to notice wet and slippery rocks, or branches that you can/can't step over, dont even get me started on stairs and ladders. I agree that adding physics to the game that would allow to slip and fall if you're sprinting down the road while its raining would make it more realistic, they would also need to allow you to be able to get inside one of those abandoned station wagons and hide from the zombies, because in real life, if I was outnumbered, I would hide and wait for them to pass if I didn't have the means to escape or exterminate them. Also, adding bikes and longboards and roller blades (that you can fit in your bag like boots) would be a nice reason to take the game slower, but the fear of getting sniped also keeps me from walking everywhere.
