Wobo's has vid with sudden 1 hit death from zombies on full health player after been hit 7 times on a chest with pipe wrench, which can not be explain with energy/blood/health/fractures system. In current 0.49.124971 stable build, in addition, every player has 50 Hit Points, persistent, for each current spawn life, non recoverable by any action. Each damage on player takes something from this pool: any zombie hit can take from 0.2, 1.2 or upto 2 or more, hit points, depends what type of zombie damage take place. Pipe wrench hit on chest takes 6 hit points, and so on, for every weapon type damage. Hit Points are independent sub-system from Health/Blood/Energy/Fractures sub-system. Health Points recoverable, persistent, present on UI. Hit Points non-recoverable, persistent, not present on UI. When player do not have Hit Points available, here comes sudden instant death, from 1-hit zombie, stairs fall, or player punch, etc. Hit Points currently are game core concept feature, WIP as everything else, regarding health, stamina, weight, damage, weather, sickness, poisons, etc. Zombie hit range currently is 20m, so to stay alive for some time, you may want kill it from greater range, and avoid melee weapons usage. Those are very preliminary results for many strange encounters I had during last 6 month. Requires further verification investigation of course, and confirmation from as many players, as possible. Any concrete confirmation word from devs would be very nice too. Hope is this could answer lots questions, and explain lots things many ppl mentioned recently. Raise new questions no doubt. This design decision about Hit Points in first place is not obvious for me at all, I am still trying figure out it myself. What is clear so far: it is peer system to Health/Blood, on the same architecture level. It is everywhere where any physical damage present. So it is not a bug, side effect of any sort, or anything accidental. It is a core feature, not mentioned anywhere. Why it is not present on UI, again, not clear at all. -

Unregistered legs fracture that increase sway with messages "My leg is in pain","My leg is painful" - 0.5 Hit Points. Registered legs fracture that increase sway more with messages "My leg is in extreme pain","My leg is extremely painful","I think my leg is broken" - 1.0 Hit Point. Unregistered arms fracture that increase sway with messages "My leg is in pain","My leg is painful" - 0.5 Hit Points. (Yes, for small arm fracture messages about leg, this is not a mistake copy/paste from me.) Registered arms fracture that increase sway more with messages "My arm is in extreme pain","My arm is extremely painful","I think my arm is broken" - 1.0 Hit Point. Heart Attack Fibrillation gives you health-20 and shock 5000, no messages, and no Hit Points reduction. If you survive the shock, you may regain conscious. That also means, if your arm or leg is broken by zed, you are down 2 Hit Points from your total 50, 1 from zed heavy attack itself, and 1 from broken arm/leg. (Same from small fractures, but less Hit Points down.) More complains about on leg breaking bug, than zombie oneshots, may be because people more accepting zombie oneshots emotionally, than death due to bugs, but thats a suggestion. Condition when legs breaking bug happening, I am still looking at. -

I am still doing this research, and collecting data. I have got some heat recently, but still didn't receive anything, that disprove Hit Points effect. In order to expand the net, did post in other places as well, with same results. -
Head/Neck/Torsoshot breaks my legs?

Hi, I am Paxom, and doing research on sudden instant death and Hit Points impact. In short - if you are out of Hit Points, even with full bright green health/blood, any tiny damage, like simple walk on ground floor in a building, or ladder, can kill you instant. Preliminary results here http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/213065-sudden-instant-death-and-player-hit-points/ Could you please provide any estimations, how many hours were in your life, how much accumulated damage did you take from zeds, how many shoots, how many times were your arms/legs broken, how many splints did you use, did you splint unregistered fractures to reduce sway, how many time did you bleed, were you hit by zeds from distance greater than 10m while sprinting, or from another floor than you are in a building, death was on stairs, ladders, or 2nd/3rd floor in what building, etc. Any even little clue may be very useful. I feel ya. Wobo's vid is a classic empirical evidence gathering, very good indeed, I agree with lot of it, as I did have very similar encounters. All I did after is independent peer review, and came up with different understanding for root reason, and found that effect is much broader, than Wobo mentioned in his video. If you have anything, please share where did you find this bone damage in game, not in any video, or any other 3rd party source, coz I was looking in game for a week IRL and didn't find it. Meanwhile I have found many other interesting things, but not bone damage, spinal or otherwise. Better PM me your email, coz I have got approval from mods only for OP, and nothing else, and don't want this thread locked. -

This is not a side effect of anything. Hit Points are completely separate sub-system from health/blood sub-system. Yes, damage input processed by both, but in a different ways. -

Dunno, I am on stable. After .50 pushed on stable, 1st few hours I will check it out and will update main thread about Hit Points. Non-recoverable Hit Points are reason for so called "spine damage", which doesn't exit. "Spinal fracture damage" is Wobo's interpretation of generic Hit Points, due to deficiency of factual data. My projection thou, it will be all the same, based on how pervasive Hit Points are integrated into damage sub-system, and into BI data collection sub-system. -
This is video, not a game itself. Thats how its all started, I have watched it dozen times. Let me repeat my question more clearly: Please post where did you find this bone damage in game, not in any video, or any other 3rd party source, coz I was looking in game and didn't find it. Meanwhile I have found many other interesting things, but not bones, spinal or otherwise.

Thank you. Well, it was not Hit Points accumulated impact, but rather something like very old classic Kolgaz snipe, nothing unusual or strange here, given you are not only player on server. If it was from firestation tower, you'd prolly hear shot, but may be not if desync.

I am on stable, and did try split big stone, didn't work out. So it was either big stone, or death in 10-15 min. My choice was pretty obvious. Axe degrades very fast when you chop wood. So I ended up with 2 axes, stone, matches, and a book. Eats lotsa space, or I am dead in 15 min.

Yes. I can not give you exact numbers, but in short: Running, sprinting, all clothes you currently wear, wetness, body temperature, air temperature, wind speed, map elevation - all seems have noticeable effect for warming/cooling/hypothermia and body temperature. Rain however does not, it affects your wetness, and not affect you directly.

so what? you take risk, drink champagne! if not - its your choice of course. You don't try drop on top - you never on top. Simple. But you do what you want - that most important part of DayZ, you don't find it anywhere else.

"I am cold","I am shaking" - both messages are for Light (?) Hypothermia Temperature level, so it no matter, which one you see. Both for the same light brown (beige?) color of cold for your status in inventory. Next are "I am freezing" for Medium (?) Hypothermia (brown?), and "I am hypothermic" next for Heavy/Severe (?) Hypothermia (crimson red?). Thats how I died many times, so I know first hand/nose/heart. Sad face from experience. Running, clothes, wetness, body temperature, air temperature, wind speed, map elevation - all seems have noticeable effect. Rain however does not, it affects your wetness, and not affect you directly. Messages "I am slowly cooling off" "I am cooling off" "I am promptly cooling off" "I am rapidly cooling off" are not messages for any level of Hypothermia, and just cooling process messages, without messages "I am cold","I am shaking" and light brown status "Cold" (or worse) - you are fine.

Hi, thank you so very very much. That was exactly what I was looking for. Some bits fit very nicely in what of my suggestion about this compensating condition. However some not, which effectively means its wrong. My problem is, thats whats working for other players, not working for me, even I have very similar clothes setup, and bright green on food/water/energy/blood/health. So there is something still missing from my attention, something I am doing wrong, or not doing/have. Thats why I am still carrying shit load of crap, 2 axes, stone, books, parers, whole nine yards, to make fires to warm up. In current build, carrying weight is not a thing yet, so it should not matter, I think, I may be wrong about this too. Bottom line, squire one, so please let me make some additional experiments, I will report it if find out something interesting. Thanks again for a very good detailed story.

Hhhmmm, 2 hours, not bad, not bad at all. So, for me it was 2 times, when I reach condition, when internal self-warming compensates external cooling, and stay warm indefinitely, regardless weather/rain/wind/whatever. Both times it took about 12 hours from new fresh spawn, too long for my liking. For you it was just 2 hours, huge difference. So its not time alone. Its not just clothes combo, I was dressed similar, and still suffered from cold freezing. Ultimate goal is of course to put it blindly under 15 min ha ) lol After some heavy thinking/drinking, I do have some suggestion about this condition, I'd like validate a few things, before narrowing it down. Now questions: - How long did you stay near you last fireplace, before compensation takes place? - Do you know, what was your body temperature right after leaving fireplace? - What cooling/warming messages did you see, if any?

Hhmmm, by never freezing, do you mean, right from the start as fresh spawn, or in this particular setup? How long are you in the game, how many hours alive in current life ? I was in Gorka helmet with visor damaged, civic pink/white Balaclava worn, Gorka jacket worn, TTsKO pants worn, about 4-5 hours in current life, and had usual about 15 min timeframe before light freezing and death, environment conditions were changing, not affecting timeframe.

Gas stove + canister didn't work for me, meaning, while ignited, it wasn't warming me up. Could you please share insights for your positive experiences, like what place, indoors/outside, what type indoors building, garage may be, was outside place covered by any sort of roof, did you feel rain when under outside roof, were you dumped/wet/soaked, what environment condition, rain or clear sky, wind, air temperature, did you see your frozen breath, your clothes/boots/masks/helmets and its conditions, your water/food/energy/health/blood/exposure/feet/stomach/heatcomfort/bodytemperature conditions, for how long did you stay alive in current life spawn, what cooling/warming messages did you see, etc., anything else relevant. Any little clue may improve the overall odds.
