In a mistake I gave away my CD Key

Send a message to Bohemia's support about this, they may be able to give you a different key or... something? And if you have that guy's name in your chat (Skype names can't be deleted), you may be able to pursue some kind of action against him through Skype. General chat isn't the place for this. Contact people with authority. ASAP.

Looking for a m4a1 holo sd

Incidentally, there are reports of people finding the Holo SD in the barracks once in a blue moon. It's possible that it's legit and simply isn't on the wiki (wiki's are not, contrary to popular belief, infallible). And no, you will not get banned for using hacked weapons.

    Found Soldier Clothing

Soldier Camo and RGO grenades can sometimes spawn in certain vehicles (I'm looking at you, UAZ) Even if Xeno had been misinformed (he wasn't), attacking him for being misinformed is the mark of a child looking to flex some sort of misshapen nether-penis. And by the by, That Cat, those were Straw Men. You've never taken a class on argumentation, have you? And can we avoid middle school insults like "fag?" It's just plain offensive that we still use a homophobic slur in this day and age to try to insult people. Try being a little creative with your insults (or better yet- let's not insult people at all! Because maturity is good for you) Good golly, miss Molly- kids these days.

    Server wipes?!?!?

Wait until a server restart. It should all be back.
  5. I stopped sneaking in 1.7.1 I realized the power that weaving through buildings and trees has. Short of needing to stay silent for fear of humans, there is no reason not to just bolt through zombie hordes and lead them through a building that has both an entrance and an exit. Once they're inside, the town is free to loot for a little while. The inability for zombies to attack while moving, run while inside buildings, or to attack you from the front while running has made surviving against zombies a joke. Instances of zombies waiting inside buildings for you seem to be lower now too, which was one of the only ways they could get the drop on you. Now? Pfft. I worry more about starvation than zombies. Except one-hit bleeding. That happens way too often. (I realize that seems contradictory- I'd like harder zombies, but I don't think making you bleed on each hit is the way to achieve that)

Official code of conduct with hacked items?

Rocket's official position is that you cannot be banned from Arma II. You can, however, get banned on an individual server if an admin kills you, finds your gun, and manages to remember your name well enough to ban you. Keeping hacked items is not a bannable offense. Just a morally grey area.
  7. People outgroup each other because it's easier than empathizing with each other or understanding others' circumstances or perspectives. Designations like "CoD kiddies," "script kiddies," "carebears," "bandits," survivors," etc- they're all labels to distinguish quickly between people with whom you have a varying philosophy in one regard or another. They take that and apply it universally such that these "others" are basically aliens that have no humanity whatsoever. Then they don't have to feel bad for hating them. Psychology is fascinating.

    Legit or Hacked

If by "consequence free," you mean someone had to pay 30 dollars to brick their game to get you some weapons- then yes, absolutely consequence free! Just because YOU don't get banned doesn't mean there isn't a consequence...

    Legit or Hacked

That's weird... The G36 uses Stanag rounds...

    Just found a functional chopper.

I'd guess someone took it out and lightly crashed it. Does a bunch of damage to most of the vehicle parts, but doesn't blow it up unless you really plow it into something.

Is the banning appeal forum useless?

The vacuum of space kills 100% of all humans exposed to it without protective gear. Did I win?

    Lets Talk Trading..

6 successful trades later, I have found this to not be true. You just need to be cautious about who you trade with and what the stakes are. I've never shot or been shot at during a trade so far.

    Legit or Hacked

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/46844-hackers/#entry446536 Took me a while to find that x_X

    Safe trade

I've independently conducted four trades now. All complete successes. It's easy to ensure a good trade by promising to Alt+F4 if you're betrayed. That way, your corpse disappears and no one gets anything. Sure, someone could go way out of their way to grief you, and that's a risk, but they won't get anything out of it. [i know Alt+F4 is regarded as a shitty thing in this game, and I agree, but using it as protection against griefers is something I'm willing to do] Alternatively, have sniper cover and do the deal in a large, open area away from the public.
  15. So, like most people, our clan spent some hours today trying to get a brand new Huey. Well, eventually, we found it and repaired it enough to fly it away to our base for further repairs later. Come the server restart, it was gone! (All other vehicles stayed) We looked for it for a while before someone ventured back to Skalisty island, and wouldn't you know it? The thing was there, totally unrepaired. What's more, none of our tents or vehicles saved any gear added to them despite multiple saves. Well, we tried for a THIRD time, this time ensuring plenty of repairs, many saves to all vehicles and tents. Server restarts before I decide to call it a night. Guess where Huey is-- Skalisty island. So- it seems that nothing is saving for us this patch. Anyone else experiencing this? (We lost a lot of good weapons too)
  16. Bump- Would love to hear something official about this problem. Sounds like multiple people are experiencing it =/ EDIT: I mostly want to know if it's worth it to scavenge or.... do anything until this is fixed.
  17. Our server has it, but we're experiencing the same problem with vehicles found after the update- including the Huey.
  18. Servers have the option to turn off losing loot while swimming. It's the new default heli spawn location as of today- unclear if there are others yet.

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

My problem with this is that anything could be hacked in. No matter who you kill, the weapon they had could have been hacked. We're already punishing the guy who picked up a hacked weapon equivalent to the CCO SD (so long as it's a non-DayZ weapon). Why not punish the guy using a hacked AS50? He has gained more of an advantage as a direct result of hacks. The answer is because you can't detect it. Which is a flimsy reason to punish some people, but not others when the same crime is being committed. Until you can safely scan for illegitimately spawned items and remove them or punish for them (I'd rather just see them removed), I'd rather not see punitive action on such a spotty and sometimes subjective basis.
  20. Repair the fuel tank to fix a fuel leak ;P

    Legit or Hacked

No you can't. (technically, if you bump into a self-righteous server admin who kills you, sees the gun, and writes your name down, he can server-ban you) Battle Eye does not detect anything but scripts and Rocket himself has stated VERY clearly that you CANNOT get banned for using an item you pick up in-game.
  22. Taso (DayZ)

    Legit or Hacked

I've heard conflicting reports on this. Heard of several people finding these now (in places they would spawn too), but extremely rare. The wiki doesn't have information on it, so I'm at a loss on it.

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

The first part of my post is attempting to find a pragmatic reason for the distinction between a "cheat" helicopter and a non-"cheat" helicopter. Your odds of finding either one are virtually zero, and if you find it in possession of someone else, it doesn't matter whether it was hacked in or not, since you didn't put the work into building it either way. The distinction, I feel, does exist when something breaches the line of acceptable power. A helicopter that can drop nukes? Yeah, I can understand wanting to see some sort of penal action against both the people who use it and the person who spawns it. However, what if it's just another model of helicopter very similar to the Huey in capabilities? What's the actual pragmatic difference? In the case of the TWS, it has thermal and nightvision- that's a pragmatic difference and should be considered as such. To an extent, it matters. However, many people see "hacked" items as all spooky worthy of bans regardless of what they are. Most hacked items, however, are not really any better than other in-game content that IS available. So the witch-hunt for those who find a hacked weapon on a kill they earned is mostly frivolous. In the case of the TWS- yes, it's better than the regular AS50, but as a person who has used an L85 to spot and then swapped to the AS50 to snipe- it's really not that much better. You shave a second or two off of a kill. Someone will still kill you eventually. I don't see any problem in using any item you find so long as it doesn't break the game. While "breaking the game" may be a bit subjective, I don't think the TWS breaks the game much more than the L85. Frankly, I'll be happy when NVGs and the L85 are gone from the game entirely. Maybe even the nightscope FAL (but I kind of like the idea of it filling a niche) However, until that time, the TWS is, in my opinion, not much more game-breaking than the L85 and therefore, falls under my criteria for acceptable usage of an item you find.

As long as I didn't hack it in right?

What's the difference? You didn't put any work into finding the helicopter- you merely killed the person who obtained it. What does it matter if it's a Huey versus any other helicopter (since no others are in DayZ)? The chances that you would have obtained it on your own, whether legitimate or not, are roughly the same (zero, against a fraction of a percent). And there's a completely reasonable grievance against people who are mad at new players who happen upon a hacked weapon. They would have no idea it's hacked and there's no reason for them to believe it would be (apart from being suspicious of every new gun they find). In that case is it morally wrong? If not, then really, the moral distinction being made is only one of knowledge and not one of action. I take issue with moral grievances like that. EDIT: As a philosophy graduate, I respectfully disagree, and I believe the distinction is real and noteworthy.
