Increase player interaction by non-trivializing "civilian tasks"
ToySmokes replied to Evil Minion's topic in Suggestions
You could also make it vary how long it takes to fix you clothes ect depending on which type it is. Normal civil clothing like a shirt could take maybe say 20 second or even more, while military stuff takes the double or even more the time to fix. Now this would do so that to fix something you don't just do it and then keep looting or what ever. But instead you would have to actually sit down and take your time to do it. Now I think most of you will disagree. But I think that DayZ should be a lot about making the right decisions at the right time and also less about running from town to town and raid. Instead more that you settle in some place where you build your base and organize your life. Now you don't have to settle down ofc. But maybe that it sometimes is the better decision -
One think that could make it interesting is, about that with a zombie carrying the key. You could make so that sometimes it happens. But maybe the zombie is on the other side of the town. You kill it and find a key. Hmm this might fit in to the car? It would make it fun to explore the town to find the key. And maybe there is no key. Then you searched the town unnecessarily and you just wasted your time.

If your gonna base this on films and so on, and pretend that it would be like that shit went down. Then the military would be one of the first to go down since it's them who actually fights against the zombies. They are vulnerable and that's why most of them die quite quick. Because they are in the center of it all. Now I read that DayZ is long after the actual "outbreak" so the military have probably not died that quick. But they have had there time to do it. That's what I ment with that the military probably already is dead

Yes. I like the light settings to. But it's just that most of the folks uses gamma hax. And that's a shame so it would be nice if you could prevent people from doing that

I mean if they could balance it right and make it to work. Sure, why now!

I really like this Idea. Would be so cool and scary seeing a bloodstained survivor walking the road with an axe held high over his head. This would also give one more reason to get a camp. So you can get cleaned up ect after a big encounter with a survivor or zombie

I didn't make this post because I got killed a lot by mil grade guys. I just want DayZ to feel more like there are civilians surviving. Not the army. Because I don't think that if DayZ happened in real life, there wouldn't be a lot of folks having uniforms and so on. You would probably not even see a uniform unless it's on a zombie or just a dead guy. So that's why I made this topic :)

I am with you on this. DayZ is all about making the right desissions, and if you don't. You can easily get punished. That's what makes the game so great

What if you could strapp the cooking pot on to your backpack. Like if you combine for example rope and cooking pot you get like a cooking pot with a rope attached to it. That would then allowe you to strapp the cooking pot on tje outside of your backpack. Then the cooking pot wouldn't take up any space in your backpack. Thoe it would shine in the sun. You get more space in your backpack. But you sacrifice a bit of camoflage. This would be a cool feature that would make your character look more survivary to. Hope you undertod what I wrote. Thoughts?

Now this is just an idea to make your character look better. You all know that you can put one "long" shoot weapon on your left side of your back. And a melee weapon on your right. Wouldn't it make more sense if at least the shooting weapons had a rope or anything that it hangs in around your ahoulder. So it doesn't just flote in the air close to your character. And maybe some changes of how the melee weapon hangs on your body to. Just make the "model" look better and more realiaic in that way. Hope you understand what I wrote.

I like The ideas. Would deffentetly be bice to have some of them implemented

I don't know if anyone already mentioned this but for example when you use a bandage or rag it looks like the character spinns a plasticthing around his or hers arm. Wouldn't it be nice if the badage or so got smaller and that the badage actually appeard on the character where the wound is. And that you can se the badage actualy get "strapped" on. It would wouldn't just feel more realistic. But also look alot survivary! I don't know if the engin can manage this and this is offcorse not a priority but it would be cool right ;)

So i've been playing dayz for a while now and I have always felt like one thing had to change. It's simply the interia of the houses. As it is now the kitchen is randomly placed in the living room. With only a fridge and maybe like a cooker. Then the dinner table is right in the middle of that and the beds are in a corner. Wouldn't it feel more realistic and be more exiting if you open the door and come in to a house where it actually looks like someone lived before DayZ happend. Like it's a house where you can stay during the night. Make the houses have more personality. I think it would make the game a lot better then it already is! Look for food in the kitchen, find some meds in the bathroom and sneak in to the living room and find a gun at the table in front of a dead family that sits dead in the sofa. Just place the furniture more convenient and give them one room our at least something. Just more homely houses!
