    Where the F#%@ am I?

    Started learning the map from the mod. Learned most of it off by heart on wasteland. I miss those first experiences, running around finding a road, following it hoping to find some sign of civilization all the while freaking out about the bandits in the trees, then the sun started setting. Don't think I'll have that experience again.
  6. Oh people have definitely got lists of what times specific servers restart. If I could play that's what I'd do.
  7. Damn, you found some pretty cool servers. I think we should just be able to create our own categories for servers, that or tags.

  9. Chaingun has the right of this. I would like that caliber added but I wouldn't take any out to put it in and I wouldn't argue that it's really any better for the game than other calibers that could be added. IF the devs did want to add another small caliber, that would definitely be my pick solely based on the guns it would add (I love all of them), how it could be implemented and that they would fit real well in chernarus. If they took something else without good reason I'd be a little pissed off ^_^

    I would do what ever I felt like doing. I actually want to play dayz one time and use "fate" to decide what I do, 3 choices, 1 dice 1,2/3,4/5,6 decide what I do. Would definitely mix things up a bit. I think people should pick where they light fires very well, choose low traffic areas, easily defended, covered areas, example, don't choose a valley because anyone passing by has height on you. Inside buildings is a pretty good idea as long as it's not in cherno. And always always keep your eyes peeled. spending any more than 10 seconds without glancing around the forests is a bad idea. check places where you would hide if you were about to snipe someone.

    And it's likely all temporary. Loot tables will change. Guns will become more rare and more civilian guns will be added. Chill, long way to go yet. It's not our place to decide what gets added first.

    Yeah I can't wait for new maps and stuff. A WW2 mod in France, Russia or Finland in a dayz setting would be Fantastic!

    Couldn't it be possible if they where made different maps connected by portals? Going down a train station or cave would lead to a loading screen and then your character will be respawned in the cave/station. Problems with this though are if you spawn in there whats stopping a guy from camping there waiting for people who cant shoot back cause there spawning in? Also a little immersion breaking. Solutions I can see to this are Getting down to the stations via ladders/ropes/winches/elevators this way the loading screen can take place while you are on said ladders etc. There is still the risk of being shot when you get to the bottom, but that seems like a realistic risk anyway. Sewers/stations/underground being a very bad place to sit around. Be it cold, toxic, infectious or just dangerous. Sitting around these places should get you killed, firing a gun in these places should bring a lot of zombies on you because the shot is gonna echo. anyone who tries to sit shooting for long periods of time will likely die. If you are gonna shoot in a place like this you better be ready to shoot some more or run like fuck. I like the idea of these tunnels being separate networks, a lot of them interconnected. It should be like a maze and you should be able to find different maps, Sewer, rail, etc.Major towns would have their own sewer maps for example. You could find rail maps and rail access tunnel maps (what workers would have used). Discuss! edit: damn, NokyoOkami, I didn't even consider that :( Well, sewers and caves are still possible.
  14. I disagree. Kind off. I remember in the mod when I was in a very small town looting, I fired ONE lee enfield shot and I had zombies running at me from everywhere! I was panicking, running away shooting, I had about 30 bullets at the time and it wasn't enough! Zombies then where fast, dangerous and most importantly, respawning. 20 zombies in a small town will seem like 100 if they respawn. 100 zombies would be more than enough in cherno. I would like if respawning was explained by zombies climbing out the windows of non-enterable buildings but I know ARMA so it's either not possible or would take a lot of work. I would do it by having little rooms inside the buildings just big enough for a zombie when a zombie spawns it could either climb/fall out or if someone is firing or running near by they could jump out. imagine running through cherno while zombies are jumping out the buildings all around you! So I agree, but I think they should still be fast and easy to kill but dangerous in numbers. I also don't think you need as many as suggested here. I'd rather make as few zombies as dangerous as possible and then start adding more just to see how many servers/PCs can handle, then tweak the zombies damage/health Edit: also, I wish everyone would stop stressing about KOS. The devs will deal with it, don't worry.

    More Horror and Gore Please!

    I've been wanting a healing system exactly like this! Cuts and bullet wounds should require a process Clean/remove shrapnel>disinfect>sew>bandage. You could do temporary quick fixes like wrapping a bandage and or belt/tie around it just to get you out of the shit but proper medical treatment should be next and neglecting it should mean illness/death. You would need tools for healing. knives - Hunting knife>Stanley blade>Scalpel Sewing kit (used to sew up wounds) High concentrate alcohol - whisky/vodka>medical grade (used to disinfect wounds and tools) Pliers - Pliers>needle nose pliers>medical pliers (Used to remove shrapnel) Painkillers - Paracetemol>Ibuprophen>Morphine. (used to reduce pain/shock effects) Gag - Stick>leather (Used to reduce noise) Trying to do these procedures on your own should be risky, trying to do it with the wrong tools and no medication should be near certain death. There should be risks of passing out from blood loss and pain. I like the idea of time based healing but I don't think it's practical in game, so it should be process based healing. And it can all be done without any specific graphics like those in farcry. Though it could be done that way too, consider the inventory system, where you can see items and rotate them (you can do that right?) you could do that with the specific injury and inspect it. Your body would be a series of items that you have to keep in shape.
  16. While I don't agree with server hopping. I can see a situation where no legit players get any loot while server hopping is such a problem. I haven't played in a while but I can see why people server hop. Imo, don't blame the players, blame the game. Shards will help but a lot of people will choose the easy way out and go public so they can server hop, reducing the players of what I consider to be proper dayz to each his own and all but server hopping clearly isn't in the spirit of the game. We need more solutions than just shards. I'm not sure what they could be, but we need them. I also think there should be "group" servers. These will be hives of 2-5 servers where you have the same character on each of them, that way if one is full, you can join another rather than having to choose between start over or not play. If one goes down or has issues you can join another and keep your character. And admins can punish server hoppers as they wish. They could have logs of how many times someone logs in/out. Admins can then ban/temp ban players. It would also help later on when barricades are added.

    I think the benefits would mostly be first person. You would be able to show less of your body while being able to shoot from cover. I think the best way would be equal proficiency with both hands. Or a very very good system for making each one get better, but that would be complicated and I'd only recommend it if they add proficiency for other things. Edit: which I doubt they will, any "skills" or "buffs" will be gained from keeping your character healthy, not from experience.
  18. I didn't even know there are 5 pistol calibers already in to be honest, that's plenty to add other guns of all sorts of variety and dilute the loot. I can't wait for the Rossi, I can't wait to see what a Rossi looks like sawn off (they better add a sawn off version!), that would be my ultimate city gun (if I couldn't get a ppsh of course). Someone also said that the M1 garand has been confirmed!     Loot Rarity Categories

    I like this. I even kind of like the idea of a tank, I'd prefer an APC or something myself though and not one with a turret, one with a mounted MG so if you wanna fire you've got to poke your head out. It would have to be very very rare and incredibly difficult to fix / run requiring lots of specialized parts and tools. With that said, Add Mountain Dew to the holy grail section.

    You would most likely pick when you start a new character which is strongest. Though I'm not sure I even like the idea of getting better/worse anyway. I'd be happy with = accuracy for both. or one always being better than the other.

  24. While that's true, I think it would be possible to add it while keeping the balance, you yourself said might. As long as it's added properly it would work well, it would actually help with getting people to spread around the map because it gives people a reason to go searching around little villages and towns. The ammo and weapons to take it as I've said before, would be very rare, you'd be lucky to get one gun from a small town and only a few rounds spread out through the town. These guns are from WW2(some a little later), outdated and unused as you said. But there should still be a few of them around. And as the rounds are used across quite a few guns (a lot of them fully automatic, the PPSH fires at something ridiculous like 1000 rounds a minute) the ammo would be in quite high demand. Using an SMG will use your ammo much faster than a pistol, though the sheer firepower, range and accuracy increase will make it worth it for some. A squad of 3 people might give all that ammo type to one guy for example, or someone might be very sparing with their ammo. I think it should be hard to find ammo no matter what gun you are using. And keep in mind the goal is 100+ players a server. Ammo is gonna be hoovered up and spat out quicker than it spawns. Especially if people have PPSH's XD
