Staff: Need clarification on ban-able offenses
mrsherenai replied to walkerbait421's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This sir has to be a joke? You signed the death of the community with that...how can you work on so many tickets? It takes me 2 hours per day for my server even with my tools that are designed for this purpose because its just too much. I hope you are just kidding... If you want to have the control host the fucking servers on your own and dont let us be the cash cow. This is absurd. How can this come up in ones mind? Im done with it now. My service will be offline. -

Taking away even more access to our servers?
mrsherenai replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
ZedsDeadBaby you didnt get the point. Its not about following rules its about respect. What im missing as the reward for dontaing my server is some cooperation. You are literaly left alone with a bunch of rules, a not working anti cheat engine, a weak game, an alpha mod, a fucked up community crying for mummy and calling you names every time something happeneds on your server and the blacklist hammer. So you go and figure stuff out. Its like leaving a blind man in a mine field because the community is aware of every mistake you might do while its not giving any help on the other side. Things aint working like that. Yes there may be more server here from day to day, DayZ is floating on the mainstream wave, but dont except it to be forever. Maybe now you may not care if people leave the mod, but with them people the reputation goes down. You can figure it out with google how many people are using those custom hive. There are many more then just a few...for one of many private hive solutions its ~600. When I started hosting there was a guy named Mojo, who always helped me when I was in trouble, he started to build up a support group, for guides and troubleshooting, from hosts for hosts. But this project got burried for what ever reason. After this there was nothing that helped you. When it comes to patchday the forums get flooded by the same questions over and over and when you ask for help on the IRC you get harsh answers or trolling instead of help most of the time. You ask in here for help with for example script detection, noone helps you and then if you do a fault cause of bad knowledge and the shitstorm unleashes upon you all the dudes that have the knowledge come out of their holes to blame you. I mean what the fuck is wrong with just helping each other? I dont want a cake and rocket kissing my ass. All I want as a host and therewith a base of this mod is to be involved in the processes. -

Taking away even more access to our servers?
mrsherenai replied to Soujyo's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I bet I will get another warning for this but things have to be said. The private Hive Server Community is growing with each day there are more and more private servers. This is a clear sign that people are not longer willing to host official servers under the current conditions. Yes its nice to support this mod, yes it makes me feel good and yes im proud to be part of this project. But in fact that the success of this project is based on volunteers Dayz Staff should rethink the way they treat hosts. There are strict rules, they are needed with 50000 players connected to one database, there is no way around it and I have no problem to follow them as long as things dont start being unfair and distressfull. There is no help coming from the side of the Devs, no troubleshooting guides, every question is asked 1000 times here, people have to beg days or weeks to get access to the Admins IRC or Google group, there is no communication when updates are released no list of new bugs and fixes nothing. You want help to catch a hacker? Write your own parser and false positive ban some innocents because you get no replys on your questions regarding scripts, and if you ask a staff member to parse your logs with his parser you get a harsh negative answer...if you get an answer at all. There is too much arrogance and nearly no support from the Staff to keep Hosts pleasured while on the other side every single user comes here crying about his miserable life and call us names. It is still us who pay the bills that should never be forgotten! On the other side you have those who release private Hives, they have either well made tutorials or even full installing services. Its idiot proof and the possibilities are unlimited in fact you are no longer restricted to run nothing but DayZ. They even support server networks like the "real" Hive. I understand why so many ppl choose that option, its luring.- 126 replies

I have ordered Server.... what to do now ?
mrsherenai replied to 557766's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Nope, that are "just" slots. I dont know how much you can control of your server, if you were running a dedicated server i could help you but i suggest searching for something like a FAQ or wiki, most hosts have these, maybe you will find an answer there. And if that does not help you can ask the support. Or wait till someone who has his server by vilayer too stumbles over your topic :). -
I have ordered Server.... what to do now ?
mrsherenai replied to 557766's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You have to provide more informaion. Is it a dedicated box or did you just buy slots? -
Tell us what is shown in your server console when you start it. That may help.

Did you install the game files O.o and did you start it, and is it running?

ROCKET, Too many hackers. let me password protect my server!
mrsherenai replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You can change your GUID very easy, as long as BE does not global ban em they will come back with no afford...passwording is a good idea...its very simple to set up a little registration system for your server, so ppl have to sign up for a password. I would like it as a temp solution untill BE releases some efficient protection. -
No, its not enough because you need Remote Desktop Access, thats not included in the webserver edition.

Windows root hosting suggestions for Europe?
mrsherenai replied to darky (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm running with Hetzner, not the cheapest solution but they have a very good support, technical and customer, and thats worth it imo. -
Because too many connections at the same time, specialy when the server just restarted and the mission has to load, will cause the server to desync, increase hive load times, crash the whole server, etc.

Kick on Connecting on most but not all servers
mrsherenai replied to aceshooter11's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had the same problem but with BF2. It seems to be a routing problem (didn't figure it out completly). Try to uninstall every VPN client (hamachi, etc.) , this solved it for me. If that didnt help contact you internet provider. -
Help me search my logs for hackers
mrsherenai replied to permaphrost's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I actualy ban for ["_dummy"]; _dummy = [_this,"onload"] execVM "\ca\ui\scripts\dedicatedServerInterface.sqf"; too as replacing the legit script that is called here by a modified one is a very common practice. -
Its the host decision, as for 1.7.2 for example there are many many issues that made not updating my server untill a stable hotfix is released.

"Calling home" Bandwidth use? Lowest max ping setting?
mrsherenai replied to Gottlich's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You can use your firewall to block all IPs, but the NZ/AUS IP range ;) . More effective then using the ping limit. -
There are plenty...just open it and read it, get a feeling for the format. You will figure out very fast which scripts are legal (those that are very common) and which are illegal (those that are rare and only used by a small amount of persons). This page will help you if you dont understand a command: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Category:Scripting_Commands_ArmA2

Had a talk with dwarden on that code and we came to the conclusion that its not used by DayZ so its illegal and may be used to cheat something.

global ban for picking up m24?
mrsherenai replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
hopper321, the dayz staff wont look in this case in fact they dont handle global bans at all. All they do is banning you from hive, but a global ban is handled by BattlEye, most likely for using 3rd party tools like hex editors or stuff but not picking up any stuff as every item in this game can be legit and BE cant tell if its legal for dayz or not. You can contact BE support and they will deal with it. Even if you use hacks/hex editors for other games and accidently left them open while joining a server you will get global banned. They come in waves, every 24 or 48 hours AFAIK. So if you cheated few days ago this is your ban. -
How do i add admin to my dayz server
mrsherenai replied to Thegoon84's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You can define custom admin groups with custom rights and even custom commadns with BEC. This tool is all about custom. -
