How Often Do You Meet Survivors?
albinoclock replied to The Vampire Lestat's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm always meeting people in game, but I tend to hang around populated areas and go out of my way to find player interaction in order to get people involved in events. Of course when we run trading posts on Saturdays that's usually where I meet the most people. Whether friendlies or attackers a public event tends to consolidate most of the server to a small area. Often a good handful of them are people I met in game that week. -
You could always hide out somewhere near a big city and do pirate radio broadcasts via walky talky. You could also toss up a shoutcast server for people to listen to in the background while in game. Hell with a shoutcast server and walkie talkies you could be syndicated.

Next time drive faster, you'll have a better chance of rolling over fences. Rolling sideways I mean, but still.

Zombies are normal humans with virus?
albinoclock replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
They're getting their energy by killing and eating everything on sight. As to warmth, it's not as though they're naked. They're also eating hot guts pretty frequently. -
I'm in a clan (Burnaya River Trading Co) and tend to also make alliances with other clans and gaming communities, though we've made enemies as well. I try to make an effort to bring clans and lone wolves together. Lone wolves are generally my primary targets for recruitment, as members of allied clans generally stick mostly with their own people when we aren't hosting events. While I do try my damnedest to survive for the most part that's not always the case. When it comes to my mules that's certainly the case. I protect them fiercely and don't relocate them without an armed escort. On my main account I'm a bit less concerned about survival. I usually drop off the gear I use for ops first, but I'm as likely to kill myself to get somewhere as to run if I'm not geared. Right now, though, I'm in position for the next trading post all ready to go, so I won't log in until the event unless it's for on location training for guards. Usually, lately, I go to private servers for PvP and more generally reckless play. I PvP both for fun and to advance my goals in game. We use pretty specific rules of engagement for guarding and trading but otherwise we just do whatever seems fun at the time. I don't really rp in Day Z. We do host events that give us similar motivations to RP, though, and some people interpret it that way. I don't pretend to be a character though, I find it takes me out of the game. I don't think of Day Z in terms of heroes and bandits. Some of the most aggressive and vindictive clans I've come across advertise themselves as "heroes". I'm not sure what's heroic about doxxing or attacking trading posts myself. I go all over, depends on what I'm looking for. Being a good sport and not being overly attached to gear are the most important bits about a good player if you ask me. Good sportsmanship goes a long way. On my main I don't even wear a backpack half the time (though I do always have an m4), but I have 3 mules so yeah I guess I horde too. Success in game is all about what you want out of it. For me it's bringing people together and creating activity.

Clipping thread - if you see clipping post here.

Balaclavas clip through the back of the m65 jacket's collar. Wellies clip through fresh spawn jeans. -
Was it while you were walking toward it? Tents don't render at a certain distance. Certainly close enough that you'd notice it suddenly appear.

If you want to stop by a less doomed party we'll be at Polana Factory on Saturday night! Not quite so far from your locale as Cherno either!
-
I don't understand the confusion here. People are food and dresses are common.
-
Human meat isn't currently causing Kuru and can be safely eaten raw in .55. There is no food shortage, it's just tied up in fresh spawns.

Dead bodies.

Yep! Check the op! -
I grew some plants from a spigot and some of them went bad, so it's not that. I think it's just a random chance.

Can someone please help me understand "persistence"
albinoclock replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
As of .55 persistence was switched on for all public servers and it had been announced that private servers would temporarily have the ability to switch it back off or reset it at will because loot wasn't respawning properly. Wednesday resets should be a thing of the past at this point according to the devs. This would mean that persistence on public servers is unlikely to be wiped in normal scenarios, as public admins no longer have access to persistency controls. Unfortunately there's still the possibility for bugs requiring unannounced global public persistency wipes, such as the one that came a couple days after the initial suggestion that we'd seen an end to the Wednesday wipes. I've also heard reports of tents not surviving resets on some servers. So basically you can make camps on public right now, but you shouldn't assume they'll stick around. You should probably test the server you're storing it on before you go dump all your stuff there, and you shouldn't assume that anything you leave lying around on the ground will last too long. That said, as of yesterday backpacks, protector cases, fireplaces, and tents were all persistent, as were their contents. Guns are also persistent, as are pumpkins (though they become invisible), possibly mags, and possibly other clothing or food items. Melee weapons, including the chain saw, do not seem to be persistent, nor do vests of any kind. So keep your swords, chain saws, and vests in your backpack. Also, tents are neat and all, but they're much more visible than a bag stashed between some out-of-the-way bushes. If you must make a camp with tents, I'd recommend you use it to distract from your best stored gear rather than hold it. I'd guess this will probably change with future iterations of item degradation. In the end, persistency is awesome but the most reliable way to store gear, especially now, is on a character. Personally, I've got multiple accounts for exactly that purpose. Save some guns for when you need them and help fund development, make a mule! -

Energy Water Volume Apple 69 172 130 Red-coloured berries 70 4 40 Raw Human Steak 494 344 454 Cooked Human Steak 486 232 340 DayZ DB Food Table In .55 I wouldn't even bother cooking it. Food poisoning from raw meat and Kuru both seem to be missing at the moment. Not sure if that's intentional or not, but it sure makes cannibalism appealing! Also, to those saying killing people just leaves you with a pile of ruined junk, nonsense. Their melee weapon and gun will be fine, and ruined containers hold things just as well as pristine ones. And of course their meat. 1976 energy and 1376 hydration per kill ain't too shabby. -

0.55 Sick for at leat 6 hours in game
albinoclock replied to marshallus's topic in General Discussion
If it's a chance it's an incredibly low one. I've eaten upwards of 30 human steaks since .55 dropped and not gotten sick once. I also haven't developed Kuru. Honestly, the chance of getting sick from raw meat should probably start out somewhat low, because the meat is still hot, and then increase as it cools off and bacteria have a chance to set in. Maybe human meat should make you more likely to be sick because it's more likely to carry pathogens that you can serve as a host for. Raw fish shouldn't really be a problem at all. -
To those who enjoy seeing more zombies
albinoclock replied to treetop82's topic in General Discussion
More zombies please. Zombies that hit what they're swinging at as opposed to what they're not swinging at, but please infinitely more zombies. It's so fun making hordes. I also love that it's got me actually using my ammo. Zombies are scary and fun!
